Harry Kane MBE | Performances

I just can't see this being a good move for us. He's a great player sure, but I don't think he would justify the likely exorbitant fee that would be required. Feels like it wouild be another costly mistake.
Why the fee would be exorbitant? You can say levy and I say contract running out. If he decides against signing a new one then levy can’t make a loss of 70-80m which I think would be worth for him. I’d rather we spunk that much money on him than the likes of Osimhen who would cost not only more but also very injury prone and not even that good to begin with.

Kane would easily score 25 goals in an attacking team managed by ten hag which can be a decider between us getting top 4 and challenging for the title even winning it. Go hell for leather for Kane and see us flying at the top end.

Once upon a time I remember saying I didn’t fancy the Van Persie signing, that he was too old, too slow etc. He signed and the rest is history. No chance I’m making the same mistake with Kane. I think we could win the league with him in our team.

Jesus I was joking guys.

So was I

Here what do you think the chances are of Kane leaving this summer?

Feel like the timing really good for him this time. He will overtake Jimmy greaves, Conte more and likely not staying, and Levy in a spot where if he doesn't sell him he will maybe leave for free the following year so he could be under pressure to sell this summer, and that is if Kane wants to leave, but he not get a better opportunity to leave.

To be fair, there's an argument that the people claiming he was too old actually had a point; we only got 18 good months out of him. Though obviously he did capture the league title in that time. If we could sign a striker for the equivalent of 28 million in the modern market I'd do it in a heartbeat, but I personally would argue the Van Persie of 12-13 is better than the current Harry Kane.

It's certainly possible and a lot will hinge on whether Conte is still here and signs a new contract. If he does I think it's more likely Kane will also sign a new contract with Spurs than leave. If Conte goes then Kane will 100% leave in the summer I think.

People need to stop citing Martial as a serious option, or even attempting to put him in the same discussion as a player like Kane.

Sticking with Martial means we will never compete for the league (3 easy games in a row where he played quite badly doesn’t change that)

Kane coming in and replacing him, along with another option in midfield, would make us one of the favourites. He is that good.

Sticking with Martial shouldn’t even be entertained, no matter who we bring in.

It's Levy. Even if his contract is running out, he always plays hardball, particularly with us. There's no way we get Kane for a "decent" fee, after which we're stuck with an ageing player with a history of injuries, on a long contract. He'd certainly improvement the team now, but how will he look in 2 or 3 years time? I'm not so sure myself.

Annoyingly good every time I drop him from my fantasyteam. Looked drained and uninspired in the 1st half, but that 2nd half yesterday was world class.

He scored 29 in 30 back in 2016/17 remember and then 30 in 37 the year after.

After 17 games in 2016/2017 he had 8 goals, and 12 goals in the following season.

Thats what I meant when I said he is scoring at a higher rate.

Does Conte really hold that much sway over Kane? He got Spurs into the top 4 last season after a rough start but the standard looks a lot higher this season and Spurs don't look particularly close. Would Kane really waste his last opportunity to leave by placing his faith in a manager who 1. probably won't get him a trophy and 2. could leave on a whim if he doesn't fancy it anymore?

Kane's head got turned a couple of seasons ago and I think the same would happen again if Spurs don't get top 4 and another big club comes in for him. Only this time he might be able to get a move given his contract situation.

I think he highly respects Conte and it would be a big part in his decision making.

I like Martial a lot, but what he offers the team in the build up you can also get from Kane + prolific goalscoring. If Kane is attainable for anywhere under £80m we should go for it.

I'm not sure respect for a manager usurps a will to win, especially when you're talking about the player's final big contract.

Can someone remind me how 'old' Karim Benzama, recently crowned Ballon' D'Or , actually is?

Kane is the right age for a couple of seasons at a top, top, top, top club. We should be doing whatever we can to get some insight, and begin to position ourselves well, for any possibility of him seeking a new club.

Although I have a feeling he may go abroad. Bayern, Barca or Real would take him.

I also think that if Conte left, they'd sign Pochettino and the narrative that "Kane will stay because he loves Poch" will start.

Only time will tell, but I'm guessing he either moves this summer or next year. I can't see him re-signing with Spurs regardless of who is in charge.

Agreed on both counts

I’d say the prospects of Kane signing a new contract are below 1%. He’s very professional but Levy breaking their gentleman’s agreement to let him leave must have been a huge act of betrayal and Spurs aren’t showing any sign of turning into a trophy challenging team.

Guess we not know about his respect for Conte until Conte signs and then we will see what Kane does.

It's his final big contract, and last chance saloon to win trophies in my opinion. I'll call it now and say can't see Conte winning any at spurs.

But I'm not Harry Kane

Would like to see Evan Ferguson as successor for Kane for Tottenham and England. He could do well based on the 2 minutes of Youtube highlights I watched of him in training.

Harry Kane is done at Tottenham. Final season next season.

This myth just won’t die. For the the last 8 seasons Kane is averaging 45 games per season in all comps. He is also averaging more than 33 games out of 38 in the league. The lowest he played in the league was 28 games 3 seasons back which is still more than 70%. Last season he played 37 games out of 38. The season before 35 out of 38. This season he has played all games. What makes you say that he’s injury prone?

I think CL football will play a massive role, if Spurs are in the Europa League will Kane stay? Will Conte stay?

I don't think it matters. Not only does Kane want a chance to win stuff, he was also betrayed a year ago by Levy who refused to let him go to City despite the gentleman's agreement between them. I don't think he'll sign another contract for a guy who stabbed him in the back previously even if Spurs look like they're on an upward trajectory.

We should stay clear imo. He'll cost a fortune even with only 12 months left on his contract. You can't teach an old dog new tricks. Someone who has had a loser's mentality all his career isn't going to turn into a winner overnight at that age. People will compare it to RvP but it's not really the same. He at least had won a couple of trophies before he joined. And he signed for a team consisting of serial winners, which we currently aren't close to matching.

Buy someone cheaper, younger and hungrier.

Shouldnt the fact he hasnt won anything and RVP did mean he's more hungry?

De Gea, Casemiro, Varane, Eriksen, Martinez, Rashford, Antony and Ten Hag have won trophies, too. Not like he'd be joining Bournmouth.

What sort of fee would he fetch in Summer ? Thinking around £40M as he's your for free if you can wait 12 months and there's no resale value in him.

40-50 million for others. 100 million + 20 million in bonuses for Manchester United.

it'll still be between 80-100m because it's Levy

Not a chance he goes to an English club for that kind of money, regardless of only having a year on his contract. I reckon Levy would push for at least double that for the likes of United.

Needs a move.

It actually reminds me of when Torres was at Atletico Madrid. Trouble is he moved when he was 23.

He certainly won't be signing a new deal so I'm intrigued how Spurs handle that.

Joke for signing that contract. What was he thinking!
To be fair, at that point I think he had some reason to believe they would remain competitive. Remember this is a side that reached the Champions League final a couple of years ago and back then the squad was looking good with some exciting young players who haven't developed as hoped (Dele Alli prime example).

Obviously he always knew trophies would come easier at City but they would probably have meant more with Spurs, and back then they looked a bit like they were going to be regular contenders.

Would ruin our high energy direct pacey attack. Do not want.
