Harry Kane MBE | Performances

Spurs have never been worse, and he's never been better. Clearly still one of the top forwards in the world.

the guy who said he spent half his career being called a one season wonder and the other half being called past it was spot on

He's averaged approximately 23+ direct goal contributions (G+A) in the PL alone since he was 21. That's 9 straight years, assuming all goes fine the remainder of this year. He's been a top and consistent player for almost a decade.

Not bad for a past it player who can no longer move and who's injury record means he can only play four games per season.

Yeah, terrific player. Will hopefully break Shearer's record and I'll be delighted for him.

Spurs will be in for a shock once he leaves, he's been carrying them for years now and doesn't seem to be declining anytime soon, it's amazing how he's gone from being doubted for the first few seasons of his career despite his output to probably ending up the all time leading goal scorer in PL history.

Couple of goals to become spurs top scorer

Then he needs a move to win trophies. Do wonder what price he will go for in his final season and approaching 30.
Hopefully 50-60m

He hasn't had an injury since early 2020 so not sure why posters bang on about it still.

Guy is quality but I imagine he's counting down the days until June and he can finally sort his future out.

Hos contract is getting shorter and shorter and I don’t think he’d be silly enough to sign another extension after being shafted before.

either levy digs his heals in and loses him for nothing at the end of his contract or sells him for less than he could of got when city wanted him.

Why always so passive aggressive? You’ve got a hell of a chip on your shoulder.

it never ceases to amaze me that rival fans don’t understand why some Utd fans don’t fawn over their players and managers. I actually think RedCafe is very measured and balanced with its views compared to other forums.

Kane is a good player with an incredible record, you won’t find many Utd fans saying otherwise.

I love this guy. He's absolutely amazing and checks the '5 boxes' of greatness in a striker. He's one of the most sublime finishers ever and will break all the PL records. One of the best strikers of this generation and United deserves to have someone like Kane rather than weak Martial missing chances. Guys like Kane and Haaland are wonderful examples of complete strikers.

unfortunately for kane, scoring bangers and being the best player at spurs is like being top of your remedial class and being congratulated by the teacher for eating the fewest rubbers that week.

He's brilliant, isn't he.to think a very large number of us would turn out nose up at the prospect of Kane and martial as our no. 9 options going into next season

To be honest, unless we're talking about next year in isolation, I'm not enamored with the prospect of 2 highly paid players for one position. Should be one of these situations, in the medium term...
  • Martial (expected to play the bulk of the matches, given what he earns) and a talented but relatively cheap reserve with starter potential (hopefully someone who delivers over the odds, like Julián Álvarez), with Rashford as an emergency striker.
  • Kane (in a fantasy world where we sign him, expected to play the bulk of the matches) and a talented but relatively cheap reserve, with Rashford as an emergency striker.
  • Some other top-class center forward (expected to play the bulk of the matches) and either a cheap veteran or a talented but relatively cheap reserve, with Rashford as an emergency striker.
Same goes for departments like central defense — where we need to streamline the operation from an economic standpoint, and maybe also provide a viable pathway for emerging talent. United needs to do more to reduce its wage bill (which has been inflated for several years now, mostly due to mismanagement and lack of ruthless/proactiveness).

Whoopsie-daisy, this is a Kane performance thread, and this post is kinda off-topic. Apologies! :)

Conte plays boring football, yes, but his CF always tend to do well. That said, pretty sure most of us would take Kane over Martial in a heartbeat.

That’s correct as Kane never did well for the past 7 years.

That was his 300th league game and he has scored 198 league goals.
Managers have come and gone but his goal scoring never stopped. Says it all about a striker. He’s elite. Especially considering he played under dinosaurs like Mourinho, Nuno and now Conte. The only progressive manager you guys had was poch and he was scoring more than 30 goals a season on average under him in all comps.

Martial is also an option for left wing. Adding Kane to our current options would really cement our attack. Quality in depth as they say…

LW: Rashford Sancho Garnacho (Martial)
CF: Kane Martial Rashford
RW: Antony Sancho Amad (Rashford)

That looks good on paper. Also the uncertainty around Sancho means it might not be a bad idea to keep Martial around for now. And let’s be honest, we’re not getting a decent fee for him anyway.

I'm obviously just taking the piss mate. Absolutely not passive aggressive at all, just poking fun at some of the opinions on Kane in here. Calm down!

I don't think he is anymore, he's bulked up too much and has lost his top speed and agility. He's a striker now, a pretty average one.

Strange why he makes them comments when literally every United man would take him, and I'm sure we will be in for him at the end of the season.

I think his game has changed a bit, but hes a proven goal scorer in the league. Can't get away from that.

Maybe he thinks he on a Arsenal Forum

Think he should break the Spurs record this season and then move to United. I think you can win the league with him.

Certainly not optimal but neither is Rashford through the middle or Bruno wide right. Just saying it’s an option.

I just can't see this being a good move for us. He's a great player sure, but I don't think he would justify the likely exorbitant fee that would be required. Feels like it wouild be another costly mistake.

Yes maybe, I can't remember the last time I saw Martial out wide though.

Rashford through the middle is OK, Bruno wide right is just wrong, he's no Beckham. Looking forward to seeing Sancho again.

I'd push the boat out for him in the summer. Striker is the position we are definitely lacking in and signing him would push us on greatly. He's still a fantastic player.

Jesus I was joking guys.

Really hope Sancho gets it together. We could lose Martial, add a budget backup CF and push through some youth in that case.

He'd be a guaranteed success here I think.

It would be like signing Van Persie again except Kane would be able to do it for more than just one season.

He's miles and miles better than Martial, it's not even a debate. With us looking a decent team again who knows. He can't go to City because they have Haaland or Arsenal because of their rivalry , Liverpool don't need a striker, we're his best option surely?
