Harry Kane MBE | Performances

People get really weird over minor injuries to opposition players.

This is good news, and acknowledging that doesn't make you a bad person. It's not like his career is in danger, he's missing a few months.
So true.
Its like people lose all sense of the real world. Its a sprained ankle yet posters would have you believe its a catastrophic situation for old Harry.
My mate broke his toe trying to flykick a small billboard advertising Friends spin off "Joey".
We laughed.

Sad for Kane but without Son, Kane and Sissoko maybe, I think Spurs are going down at the slightest issue. It's just the way it's going to be. Maybe we will be third.

Got a feeling Spurs will drop points at Fulham, they have to draw a game eventually and this feels the right time.

Needs to get settled horse placenta...

No-one should want players to be injured, but as he is, clearly it makes it more likely spurs will drop points, and so is good for us as we are chasing them down.

He will have to swear on his daughter's life quite a few times this season to end up top scorer.

Not many senior players left for Spurs are there? Dembele off to China, Son to Asia cup, Kane, Dier , Moura, Wanyama and Sissoko injured. So Alli, Llorente and Lamela as the attack, Winks, Amos and Eriksen in midfield?

Don't like seeing anyone get injured.:( At least it is not as serious as what it could have been.

The stars are aligning for United and that top 4 spot.

I was thinking about catching Chelsea for 4th, now Spurs may well drop a few points and our chances of getting Champions League football in my opinion have got a bit easier.:D

Moura should be back for Fulham, I expect to see a fluid front 3 of him, Alli and Lamela, with Eriksen dropping deeper in to midfield next to Winks. I don't think Llorente will start tbh unless Moura isn't back in time, he just isn't suited to leading the line for us.

Lets see how the mighty Poch fares without him, this is the acid test, either way suspect its Oles job regardless.

As of yet, Spurs have actually failed to struggle without Kane (he's been out for a while in most seasons so far). Plenty of goals in different areas of the team, regardless of who plays up front - just means the attack won't focus through him. Son is going to be missed, though.

Where people shouldn't get too excited (non-spurs) is that it's happened early in a transfer window, which might push Pochettino into buying someone that could improve the squad - hence it might actually make the team stronger.

Whilst Kane is irreplaceable, let's not pretend he doesn't benefit from excellent players around him. He's not in a Zaha-type situation in the team.

Have Spurs ever faced the fixture list they're about to without Kane though? If he misses the games that are rumoured its Chelsea (a)x2, City (a), Dortmund (h & a) & Arsenal (h). Those are some huge tests even with Kane, to manage it without him is a huge ask

This is the key point though ... who does the attack focus on now? Previously when he's been out, we've had Son to step up and he's got a fantastic eye for goal. We're now missing our two best goalscorers and that will hurt any team, we can deal with the loss of one of them but both at the same time is like Liverpool suddenly having to cope with both Salah and Firmino out. With both of them out that's a lot of goals that we're going to need to replace, and I simply don't think it's possible to do that.

IMO all we can hope for is that we scrape through the next month or so until Son is back, taking wins however we can get them, it might not often be pretty but that's fine.

Lamela, Moura, Alli and Eriksen will do fine.

Doesn't necessarily harm - if anything, it probably throws a bit of confusion for the opposition as to who they are going to mark out of the game.

After all, Chelsea aren't exactly doing too well at finding a striker in their team either.

Not good for united. We needed Kane vs Chelsea, Arsenal Liverpool. Now they get to play a Spurs without Kane. It’s 4th spot we really need 3rd is a bonus.

They can still put out a decent starting 11. No real bench options though.

Something like;

Lloris
Alderweireld - Foyth - Vertonghen
Trippier - Eriksen - Winks - Alli - Rose
Lucas - Llorente

Probably Alli as a false nine with Lucas and Lamela supporting him.

In need of novakane.

He gets injured every season, when are they going to realise that he's not a robot and stop flogging him? Never gets a rest, the poor bloke.

van Basten would have retired early with his injuries had he been playing now most likely. As for England, they play two matches in a piss-easy group where two teams automatically qualify. Qualification is a formality for them and they can just play Rashford instead. Those games are also in 2 months so he might be back by then.
Possibly true 're van Basten but then Kane is having so many ankle injuries what's not to say he's going to end up like MVB and have to retire early due to a dodgy ankle?

As for England I meant longer term if he keeps getting these injuries, but agree that we should be ok for the next few months. Kane is still englands best striker and we need him for the next 4-8 years if he keeps scoring like he is now

Your wrong, because now we have two targets, Chelsea and spurs. It's not about getting 3rd at all, but now realistically we can overtake spurs. If spurs lost the those three matches for example, then game on.

Arsenal will drop points elsewhere, absoubtly not concerned about them, they have no chance of finishing 4th.

Unfair to blame a club for something you don't know. There are plenty of players who play just as much as Kane. We are talking about an ankle that has been injured by impact here, and I trust the medical team more than those who want to judge with hindsight.

We definitely want Spurs to beat Chelsea. We're going to drop at least 6 to 10 points between now and the end of the season, so we need Chelsea to drop that many + the 6 point gap between us. Assume they lose to us at Old Trafford, we still need them to drop around 9 points at the minimum. Even that would need a superhuman effort from us.

I dont fancy them to lose to Arsenal this weekend. They play Liverpool and City away, so there's a good chance they'll drop 6 points there, but there's not too many others games where you don't fancy them to win. Chelsea's lack of a decent striker means they're liable to drop silly points here and there, but a defeat to Spurs would really swing things in our favour.

As for Spurs, same thing applies, except we dont have a head to head game so we need them to drop something like 13 to 16 points by the end of the season to catch them. They also have City and Liverpool away, but I just dont see them losing another 4 games on top of that.

Read a stat that without Kane, Spurs win percentage in league (from 2014-15) is 38.5%, with him it's 61%.

Without him it's 13 games, 5 wins, 4 draws and 4 losses. Also average goals scored is 2 with him, 1.2 without him.

Looks like Spurs struggle without him (which is sort of obvious considering how good he is)

Pretty much this. I would have liked Kane to score against and beat Chelsea.

They'll spend money before the window closes. They're lucky Kane got injured before it shut

100% agreed with this.

3rd and 4th is very realistic now. If Tottenham drops out of 4th place, we will take over. By then, 3rd place is a race between us or Chelsea.

May the best team wins.
