If Lukaku would've missed so many chances today(imaginary situation) this forum would run riot on him.

But because Kane is English he only gets "He is such a player, could've had a few goals tonight".

Well the guy got into a few good positions tonight, all around game has been good, but he missed at least 2 sitters.

I'm not saying he is not class, but it's a bit annoying to see the judgement difference.

Hope Ed wanks Levy off and we snatch him.
 
He's not very clinical against us for whatever reason.

He'd have stuck every one of those chances away today if he was against Arsenal.

Not sure i'd want him here. Just seems like he enjoys being a big fish in a small pond.

Kane also didn't get a second of criticism for missing that superb chance at 1-0 up v Croatia in the World Cup Semi!

United players have been made scapegoats for past tournaments, but there wasn't even a word about what was an incredible gamechanging moment.
 
He's a prime Lewandowski. There is absolutely no downside in his game. Can play make too boot. Unreal forward. Imagine he had Rashford's pace?
 
I thought he played well, missed a couple of chances but he was a big reason that his team got so many chances. He was selfish as he usually is and as most of the best strikers tend to be.
 
Spurs paying for not resting him more over the Xmas period. Always more likely to pick up injuries when tired, if he is out and Son away we could see a Spurs slide starting.

Doubt that Lorente can fill the void.
 
Guy is world class.
The only thing in his game which he lacks is pace, which admittedly is a big part of being a striker.
He'd be elite/Balon D'or contender otherwise in my opinion.

Aye but you have a team you play for. He's another Steven Gerrard basically. Ryan Giggs, OGS, Denis Irwin etc could all take good free kicks. You know what but, they knew Beckham was better so they let him take them.

Resting him wouldn't have avoided that injury.
 
He doesn't totally convince me but I appreciate that that is fairly easily argued against.

He just doesn't for some reason.

He contributes to his team hugely even not considering his goals. Ronaldo has rarely been the best freekick taker in the teams he played in, scoring over 35 goals a season allows you to try certain things.

Did you even see the game? He was a constant threat even with their buildup. Lukaku didnt do much again today. Lukaku gets what he deserves

It's a bit blinkered to say it's cos he's English. His record over the last three years is awesome.

Lukaku being absent or Kane being a constant threat still does not excuse Kane missing two sitters and half the nation still kissing his ass.
 
He didn't miss any sitters. His finishing was unusually sloppy today but it's not like any of his misses will make football bloopers dvds or anything.

He's stil World Class.

Thing is, Lukaku would’ve never gotten to half of Kane’s chances so he wouldn’t have a chance to miss so many. Kane had a rather bad game today indeed missing few good shots, but even during his bad game he was a constant threat and a crucial player for Spurs in their attacking tactics. Kane being wasteful tonight does not mean he was useless.

He doesn’t have the raw pace and explosiveness of a prime Agüero for example. That’s the only thing he’s really missing, but the rest of his game is at such a high level that he doesnt even miss that to be one of the best in the world.

That is why I mentioned an imaginary situation in which Lukaku misses chances, because he'd never get into them positions to score.

I was not citing Kane's lack of quality or him being not useful, I was mainly speaking about caf's hypocrisy when judging players.
 
Don't get some of the comments, he's everything you want in a CF. Sure he didn't get his goal today but a poor day of finishing is rare. I honestly think he's one of the best finishers in the world.
 
He can certainly play but there's always something of the donkey about him to me. He needs fast runners off him (Tottenham certainly have the right group though will miss Son now), and seems to like to drop deep more often nowadays. There's a bit of Teddy Sheringham about him, I see, though perhaps that's too much red wine celebrating our victory this evening.

I remember a few posters arguing for Lukaku in a comparison against Kane. Among other things, asisst and build up play came up. It's blatantly obvious that you only need a functional pair of eyes to see that Kane is several levels above Lukaku in this regard.
 
His touch is unreal. Has the ability to stop balls flying to the box stone dead and get shots off incredible quickly.
 
Spurs could get dragged into the Top 4 race with Kane and Son missing for a while...

Absolutely, Kane could be a pretty decent #10 / false 9 because of his ability to pick out a pass, clever movement and touch.
