Gun control

Absolutely ridiculous.............the entire population should be rounded up, quizzed on their opinion on gun control, and anyone not in favor should be euthanized.

Maybe you would also like to eastablish special camps for the euthanasia to be carried out. It goes much better that way, history tells us that.

If a Kalashnikov wasn't manufactured in a dim, dingy and freezing factory in Siberia by the son of a gulag worker, swigging neat vodka as it was made, then it's not real.

I've had slingshots that were more accurate. Tried a few different times over the years and always give up on targets and just throw a box or shoe on the ground a few feet away and shoot that.

Something going on in Chattanooga. Crazy name, crazy place!
I've actually been there, had a fantastic burger too.

This thread should probably just be renamed "US Gun Massacres", seems more accurate given the lack of any willingness to do any actual gun control despite the regular senseless murder with them.

I went to an amazing bar in Chattanooga that had duelling pianos. Had a nice trip up Lookout Mountain too as I was into Civil War stuff back then.

Was that the place you could see a bundle of states at once? I remember being there, also down a crevasse of some ilk with an irritating tour guide. Didn't see the pianos though, devastated.

Well it was the highest place in town so probably. The bar was great, they played all kinds of classic rock and such. I quite like Tennessee...lots to see.

Retweeted CBSN (@CBSNLive):

JUST IN: Chattanooga, TN shooting suspect identified as Muhammad Youssef Abdulazeez, law enforcement sources tell @CBSNews.

5 dead - 4 marines and the terrorist

Oh feck he's called Muhammad. Fox News will have a field day.

It's interesting how quickly all of this info is coming out. What with that giant exercise going on in Texas and the SE.

Is there any reason for the stock to look like that? I sometimes wonder how much the designers of guns think about just making it look badass.

The butt end, no. It might be so detailed as a way to reduce weight but it's plastic so I'm not sure it would make much of a difference. It definitely looks better than smooth black plastic would and doesn't reflect light the way a smooth butt stock would. The fore end will have numerous rails on it for mounting accessories and cut-outs to help keep the barrel cooler.

This thread always reminds me of this scene from Terminator.
'Ideal for home defence'

Surprised Switzerland is joint second.

Not sure about that. I think well-armed and mental is more likely.

Especially compared to your 'hood. Are there any really big difference in gun laws between Canada and the USA? Or is something else going on here? Maybe Canada has a much lower crime rate in general?

We do have a relatively strict gun control system with licenseing, background checks, heavy restrictions on handguns and some rifles, etc. Historically, our society has been more collaborative, which contrasts markedly with the USAs focus on individuality. I think that has some influence, too.
