Gun control

Someone sane got into Trumps ear just before a meeting on guns:
https://www.nytimes.com/2018/02/28/us/politics/trump-gun-control.html

I'm not holding my breath, but it would absolutely be a start and a move in the right direction to do some of the things he lists here.
Lol no no no. It's just more of the same bullshit. Say something in one public forum that seems somewhat more moderate or normal. Then get on Twitter and revert to type. He does it over and over. On this, he's hedging his bets because he knows the NRA won't publicly go after him despite whatever random thing he says (not when the alternatives are...liberals) but he knows he can point to something as inconsequential as banning bump stocks as him being a tough dealkmaker on guns.

End of the day, like usual, he'll be all talk and no action.

Yeah, hence I'm not holding my breath. I'll take any improvement over the status quo though, should it come to pass, even if it's a miniscule improvement.

Fingers crossed. Wouldn't surprise me if Trump flip-flops more frequently if he thinks the GOP are abandoning him. He's all about self-preservation more than anything

He simply believes whatever the most recent thing he heard was. There is something wrong with his mind.

He will have subsequently watched a couple of hours of Fox News and had a dozen NRA lobbyists on the phone, all of which will have him convinced that mandatory assault rifles in every classroom is a good idea.

Trump has got the NRA, The Gop,and Fox News in a tizzy. Fox has no idea how to spin this and it’s great. Dicks and Wallmart know that 17/18 yr old high school kids in the U.S buy the most goods. I think that both stores did not want to upset the 18-year-olds before they found out they were selling guns everywhere to people under 21 and selling automatic weapons.
I hope it just builds more momentum to really feck the gun loving right

Sooner rather than later, big business will have figured out how to make money off pot (M&A most likely) and they'll lobby for legalization. Right now they're dipping their toes in the water - interestingly, it's been alcohol companies rather than tobacco doing this - but they'll get there eventually. If that happens any time soon, Trump and co will reverse course and talk it up as a big money making opportunity. It's an inevitability that it becomes legal in our lifetimes.

Trump meets the NRA chief lobbyist and swerves away from his ideas on gun control voiced shortly before.

How can the US public tolerate this level of influence of an openly extremist organisation?

Supporting the 2nd Amendment isn't an extremist position.
It is when you interpret the text as 'everybody should be able to, without extensive background checks and waiting periods, be able to acquire, possess, and carry with them any type of gun, magazine, and ammunition.'

Well interpretation is the job of the SCOTUS and they have done exactly that.

Old guns are rare and expensive, and class III license are very expensive. Automatics are not really available to everyone.
You’re telling me things I already know. You’re neither furthering your point nor changing the fact that what you said originally isn’t true...
If the 2nd Amendment is sacred why are we not allowed to buy full automatics or flame throwers.

It might be construed as extremist if you take an incorrect and extreme view of what it actually intended as per the authors.

Most people believe, incorrectly, that the 2nd amendment guarantees their right to bear arms. This is, actually not the intent. The intent was to provide federally controlled militias the right to bear arms, and to be directed by the federal government to defend the country from internal and external threats.

The 2nd amendment conferred the right of state militias to bear arms to serve at the pleasure of the federal government. For 230 years that was the standard. In 2008 Scalia twisted the following "A well regulated militia, composed of the body of the People, being the best security of a free State, the right of the People to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed, but no one religiously scrupulous of bearing arms, shall be compelled to render military service in person." That was the original article. Scalia ignored it and won. I would argue that Scalia had an extremist interpretation of the 2nd amendment.

That church ceremony full of guns is insane. Really shows they're brainwashed

Going for a day of shooting with a buddy that is very pro gun, and voted for Trump. The conversation in the car will be interesting.

Quoting my own post here. Just got back form a fun day shooting but its scary how some people think. We had a hour drive to the range so obviously stuff like the Florida shooting and Trump came up. Its very frustrating hearing an educated professional guy arguing you need a gun for protection, and its a right. Even said its wrong an 18 year old can buy a house or land and they want to restrict their ability to buy a gun to defend it. :annoyed:

I observed a lot today, Watched how people handle guns and how accurately they shoot. Unless some of these people are burgled by a large barn door I doubt they could hit a perpetrator. People struggling to hit paper at 7 yards with a handgun and 100 yards with a rifle. And OMG AR-15s are as common as baseball caps in Florida now. About 20 of the 24 rifle lanes were AR15 shooters.

BlackRock threatening gun companies. At least some money is starting to talk.

Edit: not the mercs

AR-15 sucks big time i like to shoot with my 30 06, more power and precision to hit the targets. The place where i go shoot has a lot of rules and anytime someone breaks the rule they expel that person. Your targets at 7 yards for handgun? Here i shoot with the targets at 25 yards (handgun) and 150yards with the rifle. Also I realized most of the olders guys shoot better than the younger ones.

The range has 7, 10, 15, 25 for handguns. Most inside the home shootings are seven yards or under so quite a lot of people fire a few clips at that range. We went to shoot rifles and just had a little fun with handguns.

I was at the chiropractor the other day and the backcracker was chatting with his patient about shredder rounds or something and how his son had to go to NV to buy a gun because of the law in CA.

It's everywhere, it's a sickness. This is a sick society.
