It's something our own fans struggle with (notably Samsky) the idea that a player can have failed to live up to expectations but also still have been quite good. I think Pogba's got a lot more to come, but he's still been decent. Xhaka has just been wank.
There was a high probability this was going to happen. He is a hot-head that makes bone-headed plays and regularly got into trouble in the more tactical BL playing for a methodical manager and countryman. So naturally at the breakneck pace of the EPL, adjusting to a new country/manager this would only get worse. I still think he can come good, but thanks for the money.

Interesting, but not surprising. In this thread alone, there's been similar levels of delusion displayed by certain Arsenal supporters regarding Xhaka/Pogba.
Pogba has been frustrating at times this season but he's had plenty more good games than bad.

Xhaka is a quality young player, he's just not doing so well at arsenal since they're struggling. He should of went to Bayern, even though he wouldn't of got much game time this season with Alonso retiring it would be a him Sanchez and Kimmich fighting for a spot next season, Arsenal would be silly to sell him.
He could still turn out to be a good signing for Arsenal. Should be allowed the one season's grace that all new signings get. I thought he was excellent in the Euros and is clearly negatively affected by trying to bed down in such a dysfunctional team, alongside a different midfield partner every week or two. Some of the comments in this thread could look very silly in 6-12 months time.
I pretty much agree with this, especially the point about a lack of a consistent midfield partner. I'm biased though because I thought he'd be a decent signing for them this summer and that hasn't panned out
I think he will come good though, I think he had a slow start at Gladbach and managed to turn it around.

Not as silly as claiming he's miles better than Pogba like our resident Gooners said early this season. The even held him in the same regard as Xabi Alonso..

Expectations are subjective. Pogba has objectively been good this season overall but more lately, in the past two months, has he been average in general.
That's nonsense, obviously. Both players are having an underwhelming debut season but only because Pogba is being held to very high standards. He's generally played a lot better than Xhaka, from what I've seen.
Both players are being written off far too early, though. That's my point.

If he had ability on the ball like Kroos or Busquets the lack of mobility and complete inability to tackle could be forgotten about but he's nowhere near that level. I don't remember many forward passes last night, maybe you could blame a lack of confidence, but he seems to play it safe all the time with no real influence on matches.
You have to be loco to say Xhaka has had a better season than Pogba. However, I do think Xhaka is a better player than what he's shown.
