Geovany Quenda - Summer 2025

If it's anything, selling Dalot would constitute pure profit for us as well from an amortization perspective since his value has already been written off.

If this is legit, then it must mean that either Amorim sees Amad more as an inside forward or Dalot is being sold. We don't need 4 players for RWB.

It makes sense. As much as I like Amad, he lacks a bit of acceleration and physicality for the wing back role. Not to mention his ball control is too good not to utilise in one of the 10 roles. I am supportive of using him for now as RWB but in the long run someone like Quenda is the right profile.

We are going to have QuenDa...lot to sign the contract. And after checking his pulse during his latest goal celebration who can blame that decision

Who’s the 4? Amad isn’t a RWB. Maz is better at RCB. That would leave Dalot and Quenda.

Mazraoui is the fourth. I agree, Mazraoui is better at RCB. Still though, Amad can definitely play there and he has done well in that role. I'm just saying that it could point to Dalot being sold, if we actually sign Quenda.

I’d be down for selling Dalot if we signed quenda. And Amad can always cover there when needed.

I would wait one more season before we think about selling Dalot. Too much pressure on a 17yr old to perform especially in a new league. He's only also just burst onto the scene, he can have a slump and we'd be back where we are now with no experience or coverage

Dalot can play RWB and cover on the left, I'd say thats a pretty good player to have in the team - his wages are not that high are they? He's a good proffesionel and a good squad player in my book.

Yes - same here. He is also fast, tall and decent injury record in recent years. We need these types of squad players.

The players who benefit the most by signing Dorgu and potentially Quenda are Mainoo, Amad and Bruno.

Playmakers with runners around them. Having so much pace on the wings also allows us to be more flexible with our CDM signing. We can focus on bringing in a deep passing player who might not poses all the physical tools we would otherwise need.

Fair point. As long as he’s happy playing a rotation role.

Quenda would be a transformational signing. Since he’s naturally a winger, he’d keep the width on the right side and that would allow one of our passing midfielders (new signing) to be able to switch play to him which allows this system to work.

Apologies if already discussed - but how good is he defensively?

Obvious less important when a wing back, rather than full back, but in the premier league he will have to do his fair share of defending.

I doubt that Quenda comes in and is given first choice status straight away. He will be 18 in April, coming to a new country and a new league. I think most likely scenario is he comes in and is Dalots understudy for a season whilst he adjusts to the league and demands.

Much like we are doing with Yoro. I think he will play plenty of minutes but can’t see us selling Dalot just yet, not unless we are going to buy someone else more experienced or rely on Maz to be RWB

This transfer seems obvious. We would have Quenda, Dalot, Dorgu, and Diego/Amass as wingbacks, with occasional support from Shaw and Maz. This setup allows us to consider Mazz as a center-back, forming a group of Maguire, Yoro, Licha, De Ligt, Mazz, and Shaw, with additional support from Academy players. I assume Lindelöf and Malacia will leave.

We will have a strong mix of youth and experience, which should make us quite solid. Additionally, with Mainoo moving to the #10 role, a new midfield signing could provide extra cover in tough matches.

Probably he is the second most promising 17 years old player in the world. I like signing young wingers from Sporting, I am not sure why.

So we are going to pay 50mil on a 17yo from the Portuguese league while we are supposed to be taking a frugal approach when it comes to transfers?
What a load of absolute shite!!

He's one of the most talented and coveted young players in the world and is exactly the kind of player we need. Looks like great business to me.

Feel free to bump this next season.
This is Ten Hag / Timber MK2 and some cannot help but regurgitate the same old shite!

There's a bit of a difference though.

A- Quenda fits the EPL. He's not some 4ft3 CB whose less chance of winning a header then I have to beat Prime Mohammed Ali in a boxing match.
B- He's not very expensive
C- He can play as wingback and a winger, on both sides. Thus if we change system then he'll still be relevant
D- He's young thus he's got time to improve and mold into the player we want
E- He's very talented.

Who is the RWB you would prefer?
As a club I would do extensive scouting before spending 50mil on a 17yo in not one of the strongest leagues in the world and the main link to us is our new coach used to coach him.
Do you know that our best ever coach never had to raid his previous team whom where brilliant in their own right to eventually find success in England.

I’m not massively convinced to be honest. Am I the only one who thinks he looks like he’s never in control of the ball in those clips? It’s always sort of either stuck under his feet or kicked way out in front at an awkward angle. He’s got a few nice nutmegs sure but his highlight reel looks very clunky imo
It's not stuck under his feet, he's dragging it / rolling it which is a fairly common method employed by players with a high technical level to move forward whilst keeping the ball as close to their feet as possible for quick touches / passes
