Geovany Quenda - Summer 2025

Another LWB ? Is Dorgu off? or are we supposedly considering 2 for the same position?

What midfielder and striker would you like to see brought in just out of interest?
I’ve no idea, to be honest mate. Football seems such worse quality to what it was 15 years ago.

Ideally someone with the profile of Carrick, but I can’t think of who exists like that off the top of my head. Someone who really understands their role in midfield, and seeks to get it forward as much as possible (to our new wingbacks?)

A striker that is fecking clinical. Isak would be the dream because he can play too

These are always plastered with adverts for shitty gambling companies.
It's terrible. In Portugal it's a societal problem and the legislation favors those companies. Our laws have many flaws and omissions regarding gambling. It's was our legacy in Macau for the Chinese.

After Amorim was confirmed I obviously watched a few sporting games in full and I really liked what I saw of this fella when he played on the right side. Looks a really top prospect.

That’s also not great but I was talking about the big Rainbet tag slapped on the video. Stake do it all the time. It’s just such underhanded marketing.

It's just a dribbling compilation. Check his goal against Porto and his assist for Gyökeres against Citeh in the CL. That shows you glimpses of his ability against quality opponents. The kid is only 17 and obviously still developing. Not many players with 17 have his accomplishments. Imagine what proper guidance and development like Ronaldo had at United when he arrived from Sporting can do for him.
Not saying he isn't a very good prospect, just seemed a bit hyperbolic calling him a baller from a clip show where he does very little.

I think he's a 100% must have in the summer.

Amad and Quenda on the right overlapping, cutting in will be a nightmare for all teams.

They both also can press and run for 90 minutes no issues, then their technical dribbling is so hard to get the ball off them.

Dorgu on the left too we'll pose so many threats from wide next year if Quenda does come in.

——————Striker

———-Mainoo - Amad

Dorgu——————-Quenda

————Bruno - Ugarte

Martinez - De Ligt - Mazraoui

——————Keeper

The plan?
Yeah, with striker much higher priority than GK.
Also in games against heavier opposition, Collyer next to Ugarte and Bruno on 1 of the 10s.

He's silk.

Wouldnt exactly call that silk. Pretty raw, unfinished product. But fair enough when he’s 17. Plenty of potential

Who else could we buy who was going to be less than €45m and better than De Light. Everton was quoting us 60-70m for Branthwaite, Yoro was €60m, Palace wouldn’t sell Guehe for £60m, City paid €40m plus two unproven kid centre backs.

If your argument was that we should have paid another 20-30m and signed a truly elite CB, then I may possibly agree with you but not sure if the above argument will have many takers.
Yeah but with respect they are the types of transfer I would avoid like the plague. Obvious flavour of the month names, two of whom are English (although I do think Yoro might be very good for us over time). I don't think MDL is as good as some on here think (has great games but too often has calamities) but for example Dean Huijsen went for €15mn and will be on small wages. Zeno Debast and Strajinja Pavlovic went for peanuts too. Seems to be a million new quality French CBs generated every year so its a position that's stacked.

Anyway, won't sideline this thread anymore with MDL talk.

Don't think we are in a place to be investing in young players at the moment. He looks like big talent though.

Nah. From their age, I'm expecting a year or two before they can adapt to PL.

I think that's fine though. We have Dalot, Maz and Amad that can play in that RWB position and there's very good prospects coming through in the academy. He doesn't have to play 40/50 games per season from the get go. We just need him to be good when the team is built to compete which could be a couple seasons away looking at current performance.

Probably. We all have been saying regularly, "oh, he's 19. Get him!! Our xx position is secured for another 15 years". But the reality is, young player is a much bigger gamble than getting a 23-25 y.o. bracket players. Then you have to deal with inconsistency that comes naturally with young players.

I mean that’s exactly the place we are in.

We aren’t in a place to splurge 80m+ on a single “proven” player (who might not even be that proven) when we have so many holes in the squad.
I'd like to see us get some steady and consistent pros in for younger players to learn from and to see them through their more inconsistent moments. Would like to think we could eye some of them who are coming to the end of contracts.

Forget the age and though just broken through....stop the prospect comments.

Only seen him 5 or so times, different kind of full back, but Nuno Mendes vibes. Been one of the best on the pitch everytime, including v City where he gave Guarvidol a hard time.

He would be a great signing. Dorgu and Quenda would be transformative signings to Amorings system. Add a left 10 and striker and some mkidfield squad depth and we would have a good side I feel despite where we are now..Quenda behind AMad,DOrgu behind a quality left 10 signing....thats so much more exciting going forward

Will probably require a fee similar to what we paid for Yoro, and then we need a proven striker...

I have always got, very lively, very raw and not much end product. Very good for his age though.

We already have a cartload of solid steady pros. The whole squad is full of them and its them we're trying to get rid of because they have us in mid-table. The last thing we need is more of them.

That sounds so boring though.

I really hope we are in for him and that he joins us. It will be exciting seeing a player like him develop - especially seeing him forming a partnership with Amad.

Yes, am sure he will be inconsistent and make mistakes, but will take that over slow and steady any day of the week.

The only roles in which we need experience in is center midfield and center forward. Plus goal. With 3-4-3 all our wide operators from cb, wing back to 10s should be young players with pace and engines.

He plays RWB, RW and LW.
Played RWB under Amorim at Sporting

What is Amorim's history when it comes to balancing left and right footed players across his wing backs and two 10s?

Would playing Quenda at RWB and Amad in front of him be somewhat unbalanced given they're both left footed?

It does seem slightly odd for us to be signing two left footed wing backs.

I imagine the ideal balance in this system is a right footed RWB and left footed 10 in front of him. And a left footed LWB with a right footed 10 in front of him.

Let’s just give Sporting 150m in the summer and get Quenda, Gyokeres and Diomande.

We must have a different definition. I can't think of any that we have that I would want to trust leading the younger players coming through.

Fair enough, but I would rather prioritised acquiring the right players for those positions ahead of going for more youngsters.

Quenda
Yoro
Tel
Dorgu
Garnacho
Mainoo
Diomande
Hmm quite the young dynamic team that.

One can dream!
