If we're going to have to suffer through stale debates like this with 2 party leaders, it shouldn't just be limited to the 2 main parties. An hour long debate between Farage and Galloway would be incredibly funny TV.
Starmer has refused to take part in any debate that involves the other parties.

A clear tactic from Sunak rather than answering questions he's ask his own questions to Starmer instead. It's worked in a quite a few instances even if it's a sly tactic.

Starmer flat out lying about GB Energy being a publicly owned energy generation company. He's simply a con man.

You haven't even got to cite anyone else that it isn't going to be one, he said it himself. Obviously the host couldn't be bothered.

I saw you say this before. If it's investing in new third-party energy generation projects, what's wrong with that?

GB Energy is such a shit concept to campaign on, a bit of a Labour own goal.

Watching love island over the debate because the decision to remove other parties is a disgrace and undemocratic. Neither of these bozos or their parties should be supported purely on that basis.

The small matter of it not being an energy company. He knows exactly what he's doing by calling it one.

If he thought an investment fund would inspire people, he'd call it one. He knows it doesn't but that by calling it an energy company people will assume (wrongly) that it'll be competing with the current ones and bring prices down, when it won't be doing anything of the sort.

If it invests in bringing new supply into the market, surely that would still achieve the same aims?

Agree with you on company vs. investment fund, but that seems like good politics to me.

God this is wank. fecking awful final speech here from Starmer.

Has it worked though, it allowed him to dominate the direction of thr debate to an extent but sunak also came across badly and starmer more civilised. Awful format and weak chairing though really

So after that debate my options are either a bland ham sandwich (that might not even be ham) or a Rishi pishy pastie? The ham sandwich looks dodgy, especially with those glasses, but I know for certain that the other one is full of pish so...

All this debate has done has reaffirmed me decision to vote third party or not even bother turning up to the polls. How does the UK constantly churn out these awful drones and ascend them into the highest positions of power?

That Southgate question in the end summed up the whole farce really. Might as well have asked if they think Ten Hag deserves another season.

Pretty much spot on. Only problem is the bland ham sandwich could end up being a donkeys scrotum....

What a horrible time to be alive, when the choices for a leader are between wonky eyed spoon eating cnut, that doenst know how to use a bus pass. And a multichinned feckwit in a tight suit, that will have fooled no one by the time the cartoon dog comes along to pull off his mask and reveal the tory he always was.

Pretty bad for Starmer - Sunak made full use of the advantage of just making-up nonsense and repeating it over and over since the format didn't allow for analysis. Plus truth is no longer a factor for the right, and the clear Trump tactic of endlessly interpreting Starmer worked well for him.

Sky News reporting 51-49% in Sunak's favour according to a snap poll - Starmer should be relieved at that IMO.

I think Sunak edged that, but he was fighting dirty from the start while Starmer tried to rise above it.

Honestly very disappointed in Starmer - he could have buried the election here and now but fluffed almost every question he had and/or just took too long to get to the point

If he has the answers or correct rebuttals then he needs to be coached better. This is a debate and it's not following a script. Know the points and say them

And this is what was so stupid from Starmer. You knew Sunak would come dirty, rising above it doesn't work. Making them look stupid does, but instead he just fell for it

Starmer looking as bloated as his answers were ponderous. You'd think he'd be able to afford a better fitting suit.
