Gary Neville

Neville is just constantly Tory bashing to get the Liverpool fans onside! If Liverpool weren’t in a successful period I think the bashing would be down to a minimum.

Looking at twitter it’s obviously working

The last sentence is the only sensible football opinion he has and even that was solely down to the ESL and the implications it would have for him/Sky. Before that he spent years sitting on the fence.

Or the Tory's are just cnuts and he's got a point?

The mental gymnastics on here regarding Neville is fecking mental.

He was never sitting on the fence about a league carving out of just top sides and foregoing the Premier League.

The plan wasn't to forgoe the PL it was to have it in place of the UCL.

Either way both those competitions are SL's in all but name btw, the latter becoming even more of one soon with the two top ranked teams failing to qualify through the league getting an automatic place (even though it will likely protect my teams place for a long time I think the idea is disgusting).

I mean don't get me wrong I thought the idea of the ESL was shit and didn't want it but the selective outrage was hilarious. Based purely on fairness, how is it fair the 4th place team in any league get a CHAMPIONS league spot over actual Champions of any top flight European league? Likewise how is it fair the likes of Norwich and Fulham can continuously bag £180m reward money for failing in the PL? which effectively helps close up the top end of the Champ to the point the PL may aswell be a no relegation league.

The greed of Uefa, Fifa and Gary's employers amongst others is what played a big role in this idea picking up such steam in the first place.

So he was never sitting on the fence then.

He was always against the format that the Super League offered last year. Very few people have issues with bettering the CL format, but what the super league was offering 1 year ago was something he and many others were always against. To insinuate he's some fence sitter is just rewriting history there.

I was speaking in general.

The fact the ESL caused outrage based on fairness and integrity but the UCL slipping in rules that has 4th place teams in some league's in over Champions of others and soon to have the ranking system to protect the status quo from failing to qualify (unless 3 or more feck up at the same time) is seen as ok says it all.

Barca and United's UCL places were/are at big risk this season, that happens once the rankings rule is slipped in they won't have to worry. If we have another 15/16 we'll still get rewarded for it, is that any better than ESL proposals?

He said this team was going somewhere towards the end of last season.

Giving an audience to someone as stupid as a Neville should be a warcrime

Well it was better last season if you think about it.not sure how Ole did it.. but Bruno,Rushford were banging it in
Not sure what happened to us this season

He’s not wrong but the massive shift in his opinion from watching identically calamitous performances under Ole is fecking irritating.

Yeah - that’s a fair observation! His allegiance to Ole was clear to see, albeit I thought he’d long held the critique of the players attitude, he just refused to throw ole under the bud and call for his head.

100%. He belongs in a soap opera the way he talks. Everything is over dramatised.

We were shit at the end of last season. They pummeled us for 4 at OT in April and we ended the season on a whimper. Liverpool only finished a few points behind us by the end of it

It wasnt sustainable. Everyone could see it. I was banging on about Ole not being good enough for 2 years. He somehow managed to get results and certain players to bail him out in key moments, but all that faded away this season and we arrived at our true level.

Tbh, we were already 2nd at that time.. and we had a Europa final to play

yes, I think we won two of our last seven games or something like that. You could see the warning signs. Performances were mixed through out the season too.

They only beat us for 4 last season because we played 3 games in 4 days.

Not really Bruno and Rashford. They’d gone off the boil by January. By the end of the season we were poor last year.

Absolutely spot on post match, stuck that Scottish twat Sourness in his place as well

What did he say

Sourness was trying to defend those yankee leeches again, so Gary read him the riot act. He then went in on the club for these OTT player announcements like Alexis and Pogba.

I always think it’s best never to expect too much from pundits, to avoid being disappointed by them.

Many of them merely state the obvious, operate with hindsight, use a limited set of buzzwords and cliches, are completely clueless about most teams beyond the ‘big guns’ etc. Very little effort required to make good money.

People need to get over this.

I think you're missing the point, which is that Gary Neville is essentially full of shit. Now when pretty much the entire fanbase wants Pogba to feck off for good we have Gary Neville complaining about how we introduced him, 6 years ago.

Probably the biggest twat out of all our former players.

Neville has been complaining about Pogba for ages, not sure what you’re on about. So much so that sections of our fan base were criticising him for it.

He's been complaining for ages about how we presented Pogba and Sanchez?

Ah I see what you mean now I’ve read the quotes. He also included Ronaldo in that sentence so I don’t think he said it because now fans are unhappy with Pogba. He’s been consistent with criticising the clubs transfers and Pogba himself, so I don’t think it’s a correlation with Pogba not being liked now.
