Gary Neville

He has a point. Why would ETH want a job at United if his demands are not met. There is substantial precedent that we're a club where players and managers go to get their career completely obliterated.
If he’s joining then wouldn’t that mean his demands are met?
Would he be saying this if it were Poch about to join?

Nothing he says is wrong.

United question at 8:55, with most of his comments starting at 10:36.

United are breaking him like they're breaking us all and I think it's clear he can't stand the players. Can't disagree with anything he said.

He defended Ole to the end and said he likes those players. Hes part of the problem.

Plenty of United fans on here defended Solskjaer. We have our fair share of stupid sentimental fans who can't see past the ends of their noses where their favourite players are concerned. Doesn't make him less wrong in that video though

He's also defending Rangnick.

I'm not sure how long you've been a human for, but in our species it's possible to like somebody in the past and then grow to dislike them in the present.

It’s a nothing story, he’s just making stuff up, ETH could ring Donny? He hasn’t got a clue what ETH would do, don’t even know why he’s saying it.

Yeah the Donny stuff is drivel. Neville loves the sound of his own voice.

Neville thinks Ragknick and VDB could advise Ten Hag against joining united

What actually is wrong with him

Bet if you went and found articles from him from when liverpool went and got Klopp after finishing 8th in worse nick than us, they were all positive and prob mentioned they a massive club soon and he needs time to turn it around.

With us, it's we are a shit show, avoid at all costs, I don't get this thinking, the total self loathing, that's the whole point of trying to bring a manager in to try and fix it, what is he actually trying to say,

I'm 100% certain if Poch was the one tipped to come in be wouldn't say anything that he has said in this article.

Yeah the Donny stuff is drivel. Neville loves the sound of his own voice.

Why is drivel? If ETH is going to take the job, surely he would speak to someone he knows that has seen the mess. He'd be an idiot not to ask him tbh.

It's not drivel though. Anyone with any sense would be interested in hearing the thoughts of those who've worked at the organisation that are offering you a job.

Nothing against Gary I have no doubt most of things he comes up with must make sense in his head but my God he does come with up some really stupid stuff , why in world Rangnick who has another two year as consultant gig with United which I have no doubt must be quite Lucrative advise Ten Hag against joining United when United want him its even more ludicrous in reality than it actually sounds .

I know hes defending Rangnick. But he wants to point to problems with the club and wants to gloss over the tripe of Ole and called him a "good man". He refuses to review the mess he left and pretends he never endorsed his United side not long ago.

That revisionism doesn't sit right with me. He was praising a cultural reboot not a long time ago, but his hindsight approach to our club bores me.

If he’s joining then wouldn’t that mean his demands are met?

I suspect his demands will be eventually met but only just. It is no surprise that Ten Hag would want a few assurances that he will have a proper structure in place.

But if the Ten Hag deal falls through it shouldn't surprise anyone.

Neh people famously never ask their connections or mates about what an organisation they're potentially joining looks like from the inside. It never happens.

Of course it’s drivel, why on Earth would you take the opinion of a disgruntled player who is failing elsewhere at the lower end of the table?
What insight does that give him? What insight could DvB, Manchester United sub have into the inner workings at the upper levels of the club? It makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.
Ragnick, absolutely, as Ragnick is now well aware from a manager’s perspective as to how the club is run, if they keep their promises etc etc, and he has an idea as to how the club will be run in future. However, considering Ragnick was given the trust to come onboard and will remain employed by the club, it’d be very very odd for him to warn ETH off.

He's a 50 odd year old man.

He's not going to form what could be a life changing decision around the opinion of a 24 year old footballer.

And Rangnick isn't going to warn him against working for United. He himself has just taken a job with the club.

I assume you have never worked at any even mid level job then. Of course he will speak to a former player of his if he knew him well and trusted him to get an inside perspective. Equally I am sure he has spoken to Ralf, who may not 'warn him' but also is likely to pretty frank about the mess the squad is in and may equally add comments on the broader decision making process at the club and how effective/ ineffective he percieves it to be. To pretend he is going to ignore two obvious sources of important inside information is ridiculous

He might trust him to kick a ball. That's a world away from asking a 24 year old about the top to bottom workings of a massive corporation and then basing a massive career decision on said advice.

I'm pretty sure ETH is already aware what a mess the squad is in. We all know. Nobody needs insider info on that. Rangnick works for the club, he's not going to dissuade people from joining

People are still underestimating how attractive the United job is. It's huge. Make a success of it and your income(in fact fail and that bit is also true), reputation, fame, standing, go through the roof.

No manager is going to turn that down because Donny van de Beek said "nah don't bother"

What are you on about? I don't think anyone is saying it'll form his entire decision. Chatting to a mate or former colleague at another organisation is pretty standard, and I'd go as far as saying it'd be a red flag if he wasn't smart enough to do that.

Everything he says about us is true. Can't dispute a single word.

Lets not start getting into semantics. Entire decision or influence his decision, it's not happening either way.

Imagine being 54 and taking on board the advice of a likely miffed 24 year old. I wouldn't even trust my 24 year old self.

Do you think if van de Beek was being selected every week he'd want to leave?

I'm sure he would have said all of that if it was Poch coming in.

I doubt he's asking about our management structure but I would be amazed if he doesnt ask about quality of training facilities and the like. Or ask through a 3rd party they both know at the least.

I know it's his job but not sure I could sit there praising the scousers and city to the degree he does, it's like he's in love with them.
He goes so far with it, it's nauseating. Keane acknowledges where they are but it's embarrassing the levels that Neville goes to.

Publicly suggesting our best hope of a managerial candidate avoid us, what an absolute pillock. Why would he go that far? Honestly think he doesn't want us to succeed.
This. He is a media person and media knows united is a selling topic. If united is successful, there is nothing much to talk about.

Wait, with have fans on this very forum suggesting something similar.
