Gary Neville

The pathetic press is a symptom. I'm sorry but we have never pressured well with Ole. How many times do you see Bruno running like a madman, all for him to simply get bypassed. Fred is a pressing monster, its the only thing he even does. Cavani and Rashford have always give so much, in fact Rashford running himself to the group might be responsible for some of his injuries. Yet despite all that, people haven't yet come to the realization that simply pressing doesn't do anything, but the organization behind a press matters just as much.
Yup, as per usual he's babbling on about the effect without facing up to the cause. No player is a 'pressing player' by default, individuals in a team can be shaped (within reason) in the image of the manager. We've seen this time and time again with top managers over the years.

Pretty funny watching him stumble around when Carragher called him out though.

He didn't answer properly the very good question of "well if you've liked the progress over the past 2 years, what has changed this season?" that they were trying to get him to answer.

I don't need him to call for Ole's head or anyone else's for that matter, but the problem with the likes of Rio and he is that they stop short of speaking the truth of what they actually think normally. He clearly wants to say more, and I get he can't go too far, but the fact is these Ex players have been pushing the narrative that having their like inside the club is "the United Way" when it's clearly holding us back and they need to stop pushing that narrative. That's my issue with them, not that they won't call for the manager's head.

I think that's probably right. I was moaning in the match day thread about Neville pussyfooting around, criticising everything but not actively calling for Ole to go. I have conceded he was never going to verbalise 'Ole Out' and I agree that it doesn't make much difference which talking head; Gaz, Rio, Keane, whoever, says what on any particular topic.

However for me Gaz would be calling for this manager's head if he was at any other club. The fact it's Ole and the fact it's United is making Gaz equivocate in a way that seems to be at odds with his straight talking reputation. That's all really, I do think the obsession with what he says or doesn't say is funny (and I've even had a little go of it myself today ).
No, he wouldn't. He's literally never called for a manager to be sacked.

He went further than he has in the past I’d say though. Openly said there needs to be changes and questioned training methods etc.

His narrative has changed, said at the beginning of the season Ole would have to win something this season with the investment made.

He’ll never and nor should he, say “sack the manager”.

So annoying today, saying we need to change system and players despite saying earlier on that the issue wasn't the personnel and Carragher pulled him up saying we look lost no matter who's playing, then Neville said we couldn't press with that front 3, bullshit, what he means is Ronaldo can't press, any decent coach could get Mason and Marcus to be effective in a pressing system.

He’s going in on the manager now, happy now? Talking about terrible performances.

Carragher speaking the truth: “It’s staring you in the face.”

Carragher is talking more sense and like someone who supports united.

Carragher is showing Neville up by saying what everyone else saying/thinking.

Calling Neville out for constantly defending him.

he really isn’t, he’s said everything the fans are saying, but stopping short of using the words “Ole should be sacked”.
Literally, he just went on a rant about the structure of the team. Not sure what people want?

My god he is talking some bollox.

Can someone post a link to what he said?

You know those machine-gun bullet outlines in cartoons? Where someone shoots three hundred rounds around the hero, in the shape of the hero, who miraculously survives unscathed.

That with the dozens of criticisms he fired off regarding today's game and the performances going back nine games, except without ever mentioning the word 'manager', 'coach', or 'Ole', or 'Solsjkaer'.

He plays that voice of the fans card which is bullshit. He is Oles mate more than a fan of United.

Carragher is spot on in everything he says about the club. If Ole doesn't get sacked tonight it is purely down to the board being scared and unprepared.

Jesus Christ, what is he on about? Big fan of his but feck me, he's not on it today. Keeps harping on about LvG and Mourinho like they weren't both completely past it by the time they arrived here. Just wish Carragher pressed him more.

Neville: “Mourinho was the best manager in the world when we hired him, look what happened there!”

Carragher: “So Manchester United shouldn’t look to hire the best manager in the world?”

Neville: “Uh…”

He's so steadfast on his opinion of backing managers it's actually painful to listen to.

Ridiculous isn’t it, he’s saying everything that’s being said on this forum, minus the words Ole Out. Not sure if people are too thick to pick up on it or just being pedantic and looking for another scapegoat.

He says literally everything I always say here and he still gets on my tits.

I don’t even know anymore. I give up. I’m gonna watch another sport I reckon.:(

So Neville says we’re not good enough to win the league or the champs.
We’re out of the league cup
He would trust ole

but says he needs to win a trophy this year.

nailed on for FA cup I take it

He is talking as if we are few games away from the end of the season. This season is still salvageable under new management!
