Gary Neville

I think today he peaked in his awfulness on our games. I had someone message me on about 85 minutes, who is barely into football, to ask what Neville’s problem is with United.

I don’t mind the prick in the studio but for our games he is one odd, odd bastard.

He's just a twat who just uses United, his attachment to the club and the drama surrounding us to build his brand of shitty podcasts, advertising and talking head bollocks. Cannot stand the man.

There was a really weird set of comments at the start of the game when De Ligt made a good block just infront of goal.

But because Neville has decided that he doesn’t want to rate the signing he instead described De Ligt as being in a ‘worrying position’.

I like Neville, but he shouldn’t be anywhere near commentary on United games. He’s also the absolute worst when it comes to taking a view and then doing everything in his being to pursue that particular narrative. It’s really bad.

If enough of us threaten to cancel unless he’s taken off our games they will listen.
That's not how this gets done. We need somebody to take one for the team and get him to Jenas himself somehow.

Didn’t he say it just hit him?

He tries to be so unbiased he comes across as a total ABU.
Shockingly bad co commentary today.

The way Sky analysed the Ugarte incident and then brushed past the foul on Rashford is genuinely Fox News level shite.

Neville and Keane just sit there and agree with it. Two men I absolutely loved as players but have no business discussing United objectively because they can’t get past their own agendas.

He had decided Gusto was Chelseas best player and only one playing well and then embarrassingly for him Gusto was subbed off at HT so he jumped straight on to a Caicedo bandwagon

Caceido was outstanding to be fair.

Yeah he called it ‘uncomfortable’ or words to that effect when it was just very good defending.

I do think he is still a Utd fan. He is just quite similar to a lot on here in that he projects his worries onto things. For example De Ligt’s block he’s worried Palmer might score and thinks “phew that was close, bit uncomfortable!” But if Utd have that chance his focus as a fan is “ugh we should’ve done better there”. So he’s naturally always seeing us through that critical eye.

The "United are there for the taking if Chelsea wake up" narrative that he was banging on for the entire first half was strange, considering Chelsea looked just as ordinary and impotent as us.

I couldn't believe it. He carries it on til about the 70th minute.

I detest him as a commentator. Sky need to bin him and carragher to punditry.

I don’t doubt his loyalty either. It’s annoying to listen to, mind.

His whole commentary style involves him trying to warp whatever happens on the pitch in to his preconceived opinions, rather than actually calling what he sees. He’d already decided Chelsea = good, Man Utd = bad, and spent most of the game talking about Chelsea as if they were Real Madrid when they came to OT in 2003, despite them not actually doing all that much for most of the game. He’s absolutely dreadful, and isn’t any better in games where Utd aren’t involved.

As well as being an utter feckin bellend when commentating on our games, he's just a shit commentator overall, brings no excitement to a game & repeatedly overreacts to non incidents all the time.

He was desperate for Martinez to get sent off, if Mike Dean didn’t shut him down he’d have banged on about that until the final whistle.
Mike Dean and Howard Webb have both schooled him in the last few weeks.

Went silent when the ball went out for a throw in after Palmer couldn't control it. Had that been a Utd or foreign player he would likely not have been so quiet.

He did call out Marcus’ lack of defensive chasing back early in the game. Only 18 months too late

I sometimes feel these ex legends are on rival fans payroll. All they do is be negative. Scholes him Keane

The BBC live text quoted him as saying something along the lines of “that’s the benefit of Rashford tracking back, he might pick up a loose ball”.

He said that Rashford should get booked for hitting the floor.

Awful commentating. Was definitely reading the "Make sure United sound as bad as possible" Sky script today.

There was a foul when Caicedo pulled Rashford back (think it was Rashford) and Neville said we were lucky to get the foul. Then you see the way he goes on about Chelsea's penalty claim, Rashford hitting the ground after a terrible decision against him, not mentioning Rashford being taken out in the box, saying there was nothing in the Hojlund penalty claim when he spent the rest of the game with 3 clear scratches down his throat. He said Chelsea dismantled us because they made 2 good passes in midfield which ended in a floated cross and us getting a goal kick, not even from a Chelsea shot either.

He was infuriating in his bias today.

Even when we scored, he mentioned that it had been coming as we'd had a good 10-12 minutes. But during that previous 12 minutes, he'd not said a positive thing about us.
