Sick of the hype frankly.

He's got an amazing knack of scoring well placed low shots, his last 6 goals or so have all gone in just by the root of the posts. Great finisher.

On the way to 20+ goals this season. Given his age and his role in the team, that's something.

Wonder if we'll break the bank to sign him in the summer? Seems to me he is the most obvious replacement for Giggs in World football at the moment

Which probably means we wont go for him.

We spent big to get Rooney, Bale is probably the best home grown talent since Rooney so fingers crossed being home grown will mean we will go for him...

The club and the transfer policy have both changed a lot since that time.

We didnt go for an obvious player to replace Tevez or Ronaldo, I doubt we'll go for obvious players to replace Giggs or Scholes.

We didn't get an obvious replacement for Ronaldo as there isn't one, a right sided winger is the best we could do and we got a good one with Valencia

When Giggs goes we'll need a left sided winger, Bale fits the bill perfectly

I reckon it's Wilshere.

Obviously there's zero chance of us getting Wilshere, but to be honest the chances of us getting Bale aren't much better. Spurs will want crazy money for him.

It's just a shame we couldn't get him from Southampton... Didn't he turn us down in favour of Spurs then? Bad move, Gareth. :(

Even if Spurs dont make the CL, I dont think Spuds will sell. Levy usually gets another year out of a player at least if they want to leave as what happened with Carrick and Berbs and as long as they make the CL - Bale wont be for sale! Cant wait to see how much Man City offer for him over over the summer!

Says as much about the home grown talent as it does about Bale tbh.

What a load of shite.

Bale is frighteningly talented.

He is an absolutely superstar in the making in my opinion. I thought this at the end of last season. Now, he is playing phenomenally.

We should buy him even if its a new British record. I dread to think of City getting their filthy paws on him...

Spurs will not finish top 4 this season. Shitty will fill their spot

Class player and will only get better.Has the right attitude too, wanting to improve eating right etc .Dare I say it He is in the giggsy mould allthough not as skillfull but maybe becoming more adept at crossing and finishing in the future. One big investment that is worth the risk imo.

I like him as a player but I don't like how he keeps playing with his hair. He's gotta sort his life out. Either get it cut or leave it the feck alone you posing ponce. Can he replicate this season in seasons to come? That's what matters

Not a chance will Shitty finish 4th. Too much agro at the club, too many distractions and excuses.

Another 2 shots on target, 1 resulting in a goal yesterday. Was quiet by his standards, generally marked out of the game. But still managed to spark the fight back. If I had control of Uniteds bank account, he'd be the first name on my shopping list :p

"Their spot" ????

You write as if a top 3 place is nailed on this season for each of Chelsea, Man. Utd and Arsenal, with only 4th place up for grabs by Spurs or City or whoever. But it ain't actually so.

There are only 6 points separating the current top 6 clubs, with a long way yet to go in the season .... a season that has already shown that teams like Chelsea and Arsenal are eminently beatable.

It doesn't help your cause that Spurs are so inconsistent in matches after Champions League fixtures and depending on how far you progress, could be a disadvantage in the race for one of the top four spots.

It's early. The top 3 will be the same as ever. 4th spot will be interesting though, I'd put you as favourites now as long as you can sort out your champions league hangovers. Worst thing that could happenfor you is to come 3rd in your UCL group as if you are not in the UCL you will want to be focusing on the league. The Europa league would be a distraction.

Stop fcking dreaming and move on spurs will Never sell him to another premier league club.if they have any sense they will try to hold onto him as long as they can

At the time of the Ronaldo sale most of the forum would have suggested Ribery was the most obvious replacement.

The most obvious replacement tends to be the player who's been in the spotlight the most in the past year or so and done a lot of stuff for their club... And that makes them very expensive. We tend to then go for the less obvious choice. I'd love us to sign Bale but after the two Inter matches I cant see it happening.

No more Spurs players they look good at Spurs who have no concept of defending and play attack all the time. In a bigger club these same players will look half as good.

VdV is the flavour of the moment so he stays another season at Spurs will he now be their new Berbatov?

Bale is fantastic and the negativity towards him on here is outrageous. If he was either a United player or English, the same people who slag him off here would be calling him the best left winger in the world at the moment.

Bale's goal yesterday was very good: took the ball in his stride, once touch and then an instant hit with the outside of his left foot.

Never mind LB or LW ... even playing as a striker I reckon he'd be top notch.

It will take a better coach than Redknapp to get Bale to fulfill the potential he has IMO.

Wasn't it Lippi who took Zidane to Juventus and converted him to an attacking midfieder from a striker? even SAF remarked how surprising it was. That's the problem I feel; what's his best position? now and for the future?

Don't be going overboard. He is not a striker. It was a good finish, but a good finish doesn't make you a top striker. I remember John O'Shea scoring a brilliant goal against Arsenal, that didn't mean he could be a great striker.

With all due respect to JOS he's reliable but he's never ever looked anything as good as Bale.

Bale, given the right guidance could become genuinely world class

It was a bad move for us, yes, but I dont see how its worked out badly for him at all. In his early days at Spurs, he struggled alot and I think that helped him alot being in a side that was not under global scrutiny every time it played. Now, because of the structure and lesser stature of Spurs, he is one of their main players, has a team built around his talents and gets to play every game possible - and he gets to play giants top teams in the top competitions.

I'd say that his agent and advisors have done a very good job for him so far. Its our clubs fault for not making our offer irresistible to him and allowing Spurs to get him.

Bale reminds me of Lee Sharpe. But Lee Sharpe was a better version as he had more to his game. If only Lee Sharpe could have fulfilled his talent for the entirety of his career ... he would have been bigger than Beckham!

Cristianos physique and Messi's left foot and Gigg's dedication to training and potential longevity... Sign him I say, what have we got to lose. I say we include Gibson in a player plus cash deal ;)

Tevez' face;)

Break the bank for this one. Send Berba back.

I'd pay up to 45m.

Someone brought up a comparison between Bale and Wilshire. That's a tough one. Probably too early to tell for both.
