Gareth Bale | Linked with United again

Not how it works I’m afraid.

We offer a contract and then its up to the player to decide to sign or not?

Lingard is on £100k a week, Bale would rightfully laugh at that offer, he'd be closer or on the same terms as Pogba.

I really wouldn't want Bale at United though.

Let him laugh at it then. He is never fit.

The transfer fee ain't half of it. Agent fees, sign on fees, plus the lad is on 600k pw and he's not likely to be keen on a paycut now is he? Also he's currently on contract till 2021, so he's bound to demand a minimum of 3 years contract to at least safeguard the money he's due to get from Madrid.

That's a ridiculous amount of money and an enormous risk for a player who can't complete two training sessions in a row. And one that hasn't ever shown the slightest bit of interest in joining United might I add.

PS. As for not finding a player that talented for £50m, I thought Messi is a free agent this summer isn't he?

Good points Mike. While I don't disagree on the cost of the outlay, he will find the market for his services not as lucrative as what he has in Madrid. When Madrid wants you out, then they will move you. As another poster said, maybe a Darren Fletcher type change of scenery will be useful for all parties involved. I think the talent is worth a punt at that price, especially IF Mourinho wants him and thinks he can solve his injury crisis.

As for the Messi comment, didn't he recently sign a new contract? I thought I remember seeing something something in the news. I could be wrong though.

Cheers.

Well he wouldn't because United wouldn't be as daft as to offer him a wage that low, I agree with you about not wanting him, and if I were part of United I wouldn't touch him, but to say we were as far along as to offer him a contract, it'd be damaging to our credibility to offer him a wage that low, we'd be a laughing stock, and agents like Raiola and Mendes wouldn't bother to deal with us when it comes to their big clients.

Shit sticks.

Isnt he 29? He isnt young per say in footballing terms so his injury crisis isnt going to get better. He cant just shake these things off as he gets older. It will only get worse. Also Mou cant do shit to "solve" his injury crisis.

Bale was born July 16th, 1989; so that would make him 28. People said the same thing about Robin Van Persie when he signed for United at 29; and look how that worked out. I disagree with Mou "can't do shit to solve his injury crisis." Injuries come from over-training and overuse. One of the things when Mourinho first came to United is how LVG over-trained the players and that was the reason for many of the repeat injuries. Also remember Bale signed for Real Madrid on September 1st, 2013 so he never played for Mou at RM (Mou left June 1st, 2013). Mourinho traditional has had one of the best injury records in the world.

While the signing has considerable risk, I see the benefit of getting a top 5 player in the world (when fit) at a significant discount.

Well yeah, but offering a low offer just because you think we should pay less based on an injury record isn’t how it works. He’d still demand high wages anywhere, not a drastic cut.

He plays on the left where Martial and Rashford both play. He has a shocking injury history and would want huge wages plus a 4 or 5 year deal.

A big no in my opinion.

I mean if he was being touted around we could just say we cant offer him the wages he wants because of his injury record. Who the hell is going to pay him more than 200k?

We'll spunk 90 million
"My hamstring feels tight"

Madrid?

There's not only his record of injuring himself every three weeks but also him seemingly clinging to Madrid with all his life. The guy himself and his agent come out every few months to express how blessed he is to be with Madrid the great and how he intends to stay there until his death. Get him here and he'll be crying and sulking more than Di Maria.

So he will be 29 in the summer, when we could in theory buy him. RVP never relied on his pace the way Bale does, he could of course reinvent or tweak his game to prolong his career, but you wouldn’t get Bale the blistering winger for more than 2 years, if your Lucky, and if he stays fit. His injury record over the past 3 years is appalling, that may change, may not - but that’s a huge risk to take. Big transfer fee, massive wages, just doesn’t add up.

...Gareth Bale he is a British hero
He plays once then out for months
He's made of fecking jell-o

Whoever spends 50m on him should be sacked.

Depends on how much he's available for. Not a big fan of buying players that have peaked for huge money. We'll likely only use them for a few years before having to look for another expensive replacement. I see Jose and our board continuing to have disagreements over this matter

When was the last time you saw him play? When he was with the Spurs?

This plus I’d also sign Griezmann and Ozil. A left back and atleast one central defender. I think Smalling Rojo Blind and Jones can all be improved on considerably so I’d consider selling two and buying atleast one possibly two if we have the budget (VVD and Luiz look available in January and both upgrades).

Im saying if it's a case of them wanting rid. I'm not saying he has to leave, but he won't get offers of 300k a week elsewhere. I was just saying what I think we should be offering.

The guy makes Jones look like a model of fitness, has consistently said he doesn't want to leave Madrid, previously turned us down and is on £600K a week apparently. Way too much baggage for a guy who used to be able to run fast and has a good shot.

Which you'd imagine he'd laugh at too. Considering he's on double (and a bit more) than what Pogba earns.

Would cost too much in terms of a fee and combined wages and is injured too often.

Do not want.

Isn't his wages calculated before taxes and Pogba after? If not then yeah, we'd be better off not even entering the room.

Let's sign him then make him play left back again just for the lulz.

If Bale has two years left on his contract from the summer then why not take him on a year or two loan (like James Rodriguez at Bayern) and just pay his wages ?
