Ganso - Paulo Henrique

To quote Tim Vickery:

In September and October, Ganso was in Brazil's U-20 side that unluckily lost to Ghana in the final. He had some good moments during the tournament, scored one outstanding goal, but had problems imposing himself on the game and was replaced in five of the seven games.

This kid could be good, but he's one for the future, not the next two seasons. I would prefer we signed an experienced player who can step right in and handle the pressure.

Milan's no 1 target seems to be Hamsik and not Henrique. Napoli has a Modric in their hands at the moment with the only difference that Napoli fans/owners are not like Spurs.

I'd rather get Hamsik or Pastore before looking at Ganso. Both those players have already played in Europe. Ganso looks like he'll need at least a season to get used to Europe...then you have to worry about how he will do in the cold, rain etc.

Not sure we can gamble 30-35 million on him.

I think I'd rather spend £25m on Ganso than splash out £40-45m on Pastore.

Wonder if anyone can answer this, with theBrazil transfer window closing in the next 20 or so hours, is that for player being purchased or can they stil be sold? If it's all encompassing then teams need to get their arses in gear.

I don't think anyone can get Ganso before January though because Santos want to keep him and Neymar in Brazil in order to have a chance at beating Barca for the Club World Cup.

I think it's for players moving within the league, they can sell them abroad anytime they like.

I think so too, there's a few ongoing deals with transfers from Brazil to Portugal and no one seems to be in much of a hurry.

That answers that then. Cheers guys.

The transfer window is for player registrations, isn't it? So once the Brazilian window closes they can't register players over there, but in Europe we still can.

Manchester United have recently been linked with a move for Santos midfielder Ganso, and their pursuit of the Brazil international is seemingly gaining an increasing momentum.

According to Gazzetta Dello Sport, AC Milan have agreed a £26m fee with Santos for Ganso, but Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United are ready to match that in order to tempt him to join them.

Though the PSG project is ambitious and enticing, Ganso is surely more likely to choose AC Milan or Manchester United as those teams play in two of the biggest three leagues in Europe.

Ganso has admitted he would be interested in moving to a top European team, but has left the ball in the court of his prospective suitors.

"Playing in Europe is every Brazilian player's dream, every child's dream," said the 21 year-old.

"But things have to happen naturally, you cannot fight to leave, nothing can be forced."

However, Gazzetta's story begins to look shaky when one hears what Rossoneri vice president Adriano Galliani had to say this morning.

"Milan does have a vacant place for a non-European player but it's not Ganso," stated Galliani.

Is the path clear for Manchester United to sign the Brazil star?

£26m seems like a lot of money for someone who hasn't played in Europe or impressed at a major tournament. Let him go to Milan.

His intelligence and vision is something that will be of use in any league at any level and he's shown it at every level he's played at - yes including the Copa - but it's a lot of money for a player who would unquestionably have to adapt to our league and adapt to our system. He'll go to Italy.

Can you think of a more promising talent of 21 and below who plays through the middle and is accessible?

£26m for a potential world beating midfielder isn't outrageous.

As talented of Ozil?

Ninis. He'd cost half of that.

Also Morrison, Pogba, , Cleverley......

Interesting that Ganso was the top Inter target for quite some months. Could it be that United's sudden interest in the player is a bit of bluffing by us re Sneijder?

Götze is a remarkable talent. A full German International, and just 19 years of age.

Didn't like the look of Ninis after your recommendation gambit, was thoroughly disappointed. Same for Giuliano. Intelligent and gifted but lacking that bit extra, lacking that passing quality. Two games and all but still...preferred Feftazidis from the Greece game.

Gotze looks a potentially top class but then he's not accessible.

Ganso is an incredibly talented lad. The hype is all over Neymar, who is being valued at £35m-£40m, but if it weren't for the injuries, Ganso would have another £5m-£10m added to his current evaluation, imo.

And as a pure attacking midfielder, I think Ganso is comfortably on par with Oezil. What's more, he's much better in front of goal.

Both of them are likely to be up there as the best in the world in a few years time.

Ninis. He'd cost half of that.
Ninis is about half the player, that'd be why.

He hasn't impressed me to the point I'm thinking he could be the very best in the world in his position some day.

Also Morrison, Pogba, , Cleverley......
You think anyone would pay even £13m for them, let alone the £26m being touted for Ganso?

None of them are in his class.

Indeed, but if he were for sale he wouldn't go for much less.

The likes of Kaka, Pato, Aguero and Robinho didn't exactly played in Europe when they were brought into it, and they turned out not too bad. Sometimes you need to take a chance with these deals

Ninis has been pants this season, I do admit. Seems to have become injury prone, I've never really watched him for Greece only for Pano. Giuliano I've not seen this season so I'm guessing he's been shit as well.

So why put his name forward?!

Özil has made 20, 21 and 26 assists in his last three seasons with Bremen and Real Madrid, and in 2010/11 in the top five leagues only Andrea Cossu and Nene created more goal scoring chances than he did (in league play). Ganso is absolutely not "comfortably on par" with Özil. Özil is already in the top 2 or 3 attacking midfielders in the world, Ganso could one day reach that level.

Ganso might be more of a direct goal threat but even then it's close, and he's certainly not "much better". In terms of pure goals per game he is ahead but 15 of his 26 goals for Santos have come in the weak Campeonato Paulista while Özil scored his in the Bundesliga, La Liga and also for the German national team.

Indeed. He's my favourite non-United player and the biggest reason why I will again be watching all of Dortmund's matches this season, but I'm not even going to entertain any transfer speculation since that's a surefire road to heartbreak and depression.

Kaka cost £6m, the rest were expensive thougj and turned out well except for Robinho who never fulfilled his early promise in my opinion.

Because the season previous he was better. Just because he's had a shit season this year due to a niggling injury doesn't mean the lad hasn't got any potential. Lots of people weren't rating Ganso because they saw a few games from the copa. I rate Ninis and he has champions league experience including inspiring his team to a victory away to Roma at the age of 19. That year he ran the rule over the Greek league was being watched by the milans and even we have sent scouts to watch him against Barcelona. Unfortuanetly for him, he hasn't been that good this year, but as I said it was due to a niggling injury. For the cost of the lad I'd be happy if we brought him in (pending a proper medical).
