Ganso - Paulo Henrique

If caught offside have reported it then I expect to see photos of him in our shirt beside Fergie within the next 10 minutes.

Before he was injured he was right up there with Neymar as the best Brazil had to offer. Great play maker and looked the real deal before the knee injury last year. He ran the show for Brazil just like Oscar has done at the Olympics.

He also had a serious injury in 2007, I am not sure if that was to his left knee also, but you have to wonder about injuries since he hasn't been the same since this last injury. Big gamble to pay £25M for somebody with as history of knee injuries, but if he can get back to what he was about 15 months ago it would be worth it.

I love the turn-over rate of transfer threads these days - as Lucas dries-up, the RvP thread starts to shine, with the Ganso thread establishing itself for it's day in the sun next.

The transfer forum in outstanding form.

btw-is he any good?

Used to be rated much higher than he is right now, he used to be "the next kaka" before a few injuries and Oscar came in. Now whenever I watch him he just seems like he isn't interested, and he is a really static player. If he stays in Brazil for a few more years than I fear that his potential will be wasted, he's one of the few that really need a move to a bigger, tougher league if he wants to save his career and actually become something. Personally, I don't think he'd be suited to us at all.

One of the most technically gifted young players I have ever seen.

I'd jump at 25m for him.

ganso when i saw him years ago looked good but i haven't seen him in 18 months or so.

we won't be in for him, he's not what we are looking for IMO.

however, it seems fergie must get one of these young brazilian attackers from the olympic squad:

oscar- chelsea
lucas - psg
neymar - probably barca
damiao - probably spurs or somewhere
pato - milan
hulk - somewhere for a lot of money and not us

maybe fergie feels left out?

Just because he wanted Lucas doesnt mean that he is intent on signing a brazilian at all costs. Also wouldn't Ganso basically play the same role as we bought Kagawa for? I really can't see it happening

I see he signed for Sao Paulo. He was supposedly Santos' 2nd lowest paid player.

No he hasn't, but seems like he will. And I think this second lowest paid player is bs. He was on par with Neymar a few years back, and been refusing raises and renegotiation.

Reportedly, Santos accepted the R$23mi offer form São Paulo (7~8mi pounds), but is waiting to see the result about the litigation involving Santos and DSI (a company that has 55%, or 45%, or 25% depending on the result of the process), and Ganso hasn't even been at the Club for physiotherapy sessions.

This kid had everything to be a great player, awesome left foot, vision, shooting, but with his bad counseling and injuries really is losing a vital time in his development.

It's confirmed.

What happened to the lad? Wasn't he one of the hottest prospects not long ago, on par with Neymar?

Done deal, and apparently São Paulo only paid R$ 17mi, while the DSI payed the rest. Good value, if he can reach form again. He is free to play the Brasileirão, but not the Sulamericana next round, because he is injuried and may come back in a month still.

The talent makes it look great, but let's see how he handles himself from now on.

Surprised he hasn't moved to Europe. Maybe the top tier will not need him but the 2nd tier teams like Tottenham would have done well to get him.

Ha, I remember earlier in this thread letranger had an epic multi-quote argument with somebody who was saying Ganso was already as good as if not better than Ozil. I miss letrangers scouting reports.

Well in 2010, he absolutely took Brazil by storm. Paulistão, Copa do Brasil, Brasileirão, and even in the Brazil caps he was brilliant. But had an serious injury in the beginning of 2011 and spent seven months out. Then another injury, surgery, bad counseling and poor attitude did the rest to feck screw everything for himself.

I'm not saying he wasn't an incredible talent as he definitely was and maybe this move will help him reach his potential. But at no point in his career did he reach Ozil's level, never mind surpass that level.

Agreed, it was more about potential about him, in the same time Ozil was about ot to go Real wasn't him? Comparing both was ok, but Ozil evolved, Ganso didn't.
