Television Game of Thrones (TV) • The watch has ended

Hmm... is this show good enough to re-watch the three seasons?

I'm watching them atm with my wife and I have to say they are no-where near as enjoyable the second time around. I think once the suspense is removed it kinda spoils it. I had started reading the books but after I realised it may be ruining the show for me I stopped at book 3.

I've watched most of the episodes a few times. Really love it, but it isn't as good obviously second time around, like anything.

I love this cat, I watch it everytime before the new season starts to get me in the mood. I can never watch it and not laugh, or meow.

The ending!

The ending really makes it, those special effects are superb.

You may have already seen it, but here's the dog version. (replace meows with woofs).

Personally I prefer the cat one but hey that's just me.

On April I think. I can tell you what will happen though if you want.

Do not kill me, please!

No ta. I actually got all the B*&^s off a friend but I only read the first two and stopped because I'd rather enjoy the surprise of the show.
I can't imagine what it would have been like to have the red wedding spoiled.

A fecktard had spoiled for me the Ned death and somehow I managed to spoil for myself the Red Wedding before I read them. I am the worst one when it comes to getting things spoilered.

I'm sure this convo would be OK unspoilered, but just incase.
I literally couldn't believe it when Ned died either. Such a central character. No-one is safe.

Have those being posted? It's shiteous and barely funny, but I just came across them. LF was almost the same from the show

Agreed. The cat's the better lyricist.

Came across this the other day on my Youtube travels.

Love stuff like that.

In the first season pretty much nobody has an idea of how big is Westeros and the map of it. Despite the idiot who told me, I wasn't still sure that it was going to hapen. I was somehow hoping that Robb's army is somewhere near (didn't know that they were thousands of miles apart) and was expecting something to happen. And then Ned got beheaded. Such a shame!

I watched a few episodes in about October time and got hooked immediately, only to have Ned Stark's death and the wedding scene ruined by the Youtube side bar. I had never typed anything Game of Thrones related; they just came up randomly and fecked up the two best bits.

Wankers. :(

It made me feel sick missing out on the Ned Stark scene. It wasn't as bad with his son - he had the look of someone who was gonna die. He looked like Owen Hargreaves as well so he was bound to get injured in some way.

Ned Stark, though... that would've sucked me in right until it happened.

My brother spoiled that for me. Now that I've read all the books, he has to be very careful.

Robb completely deserved what he got. He was a nice guy but a complete idiot. Letting Theon go away (well his stupid mum actually made the only good advice on her life to not send Theon there but he didn't listen), losing Jaime, fecking off with one of the most powerful lords on the north by not marrying his daughter were his first three big mistakes. And what will you do if you lose one of your most powerful bannerman (actually Frey was a bannerman of Tully but anyway)? Behead another one (Arnolf Karstark). Which meant that after Karstark soldiers left, he had to go to Frey again. A good guy and a talented leader, but a complete idiot. Tywin and Bolton told him how the real game is played.

And Eddard was stupid too. He should had listen to Littlefinger or Renly.

Reading that made me realise that this program really needs to start again before I forget everything! :nervous: I remember Robb twatting up the Theon/Fray situations and failing to stop Catelyn releasing Jaime, but who was Arnolf Karstark again?

One of his most powerful and loyal bannermans. Jaime killed his two sons who were protecting Robb during the battle. He insisted to execute Jaime but Robb didn't agreed. After Catelyn the Bitch gave freedom to Jaime, he killed some young Lannister kids (who weren't exactly very near on blood to Tywin) for vengeance. And then Robb the Idiot beheaded him for treason (while killing kids is nasty, still...). On the morning 2000 soldiers left the army.

That was in fact the main reason why RObb had to arrange the wedding of Edmure Tully (his uncle) with one of Frey's girl, In order to compensate for the soldiers who left him after Karstark was executed. It went well.

Ah yeah cheers I remember now. My memory is literally terrible, I only watched it a few months ago. I went through it so fast though that it became a bit of a blur.

Just seen your location by the way Revan, how did it go? :D

Yeah he did a lot of stupid things that ultimately cost him. I still felt sorry for him and Frey's still a horrible person, but Robb kind of had it all coming too with some of the mistakes he made. To be fair, losing Jaime wasn't his fault and if he hadn't been released then he would've been killed, which would've probably caused Sansa's death (and they probably still thought Arya was captive too).

As much as Ned gets a lot of stick for his decisions he was in a difficult position. He couldn't kick Joffrey off the throne for not being the rightful king and replace him with Renly who wasn't either. Come to think of it, Renly was a selfish prick. Basically felt he should've been king when he'd never fought a battle in his life when his brother had a much better claim and deserved it more than he did.

I don't think that it is a problem with memory, it just has so many characters and things that is so hard to remember. I have read those things two times and watched the show 2 times but still there are a lot of things that I have forgotten.

Still at around 1/4 of the game and haven't played at all for almost a month. With the holiday, New Year and now on exam session I am not having time to play that much (though ironically I am on Caf all the time). After the exams I'll go on a fast playing and finish it. Was excellent until then and the writting was as fantastic as you said. The last thing I did was finding the Nameless One tomb.

I am not sure about Jaime. Not kill him but keep him, he was such a valuable hostage. It was his mom's fault of course but he should have sent his mum at Winterfell long time ago. Betraying Frey by not marying his daughter and especially killing Karstark was idiotic.

Ned was really on a terrible position. Possibly on the long term the sanest thing to do was to made a pact with Littlefinger and Renly who could have provided the resources (and in that case Littlefinger wouldn't have betrayed him) to capture Cersei and her kids. That would have meant that Renly will became a King and while he wasn't the rightful King, Stannis (or even Robert) weren't too. Renly was a selfish prick, I agree but he was beloved and on space of a few days made an army of 100k soldiers.

As much as I like Stannis (well in show they made him a bit wank) and he was all the time not treated well and with respect from Robert, almost nobody on Westeros wanted him as a King. Ned did the honorable thing by sticking with him, but it cost his life and made Lannisters even more powerful.

Ah yeah, love that part. :D Won't ruin it but it really is an amazing storyline. So much of what you come across that seems obscure or not overly significant makes sense at the end.

I'm half wondering whether to power through Game of Thrones again before it starts in April. Wanted to go through Rome again, but with House of Cards and everything else that's coming up I think that's the priority.
