Television Game of Thrones (TV) • The watch has ended

My favorite is the classic "oh shhhheeiiit" from The Wire

 at the idea that Joffrey would have a wacky internal monologue.

"Oh crap, I shouldn't have mentioned my father. Oh CRAP, I shouldn't have said he won the war. OH CRAP!, I certainly shouldn't have said Tywin was hiding...Oh it's too damn hot."

By far the best scene for me was the Hodor blush when Sam recognised him. That should be a hashtag.

Vintage Simpsons.

Assistant to the regional Mance Rayder (sorry if it's been done before:nervous: I actually can't take credit/blame - a colleague came up with it.)

Ill be starting them soon. I don't want to get ahead of the show though.

Red Wedding, I struggle to think of another episode of a TV show with as much shock value.

I was pretty shocked when I found out it was actually Maggie who shot Mr Burns.

There is a conversation between him and Ygritte that I swear was just a Thronesified version of the 'I don't do sloppy seconds' scene from The Office

Very true

"But I'd take good care of you. He won't, he'll leave you! Pick me!"

not even when
Tony Almeida turned up as a bad guy in 24? Or when Jack cut of Chase Edmund's hand?

started rewatching the first season- it's reminded me how much Cersei needs to die a slow, humiliating and painful death.

A slow, painful, naked death would be preferable.

I think we saw the back of her arse when Jaime was plowing her at the end of the first episode.

Anyway, just watch 300 if you want to.

Lena Headey is actually quite attractive in real life and I'm not usually a guy who likes women with tattoos- guess it must be my Yorkshire sense tingling. It's probably a sign that she's doing a great job playing Cersei that I actually am not fussed if we see her naked or not cos I hate the character so much.

Whether you like a woman or not should have no bearing on if you want to see her naked!. Whats wrong with you man! :nono:

So, now that the shock of the Red Wedding has given way to reflection amongst the lot of you (hopefully), how do we rate this third season in the series?

I think the show had some pacing issues compared to the first and the second season, due to the sheer amount of story lines we need to follow. You never got to see much of each character in each episode, and as such the progress of the show felt a bit hampered and slow.

Also, I think some of the dialogue lacked the sharpness of writing that seasons 1 and 2 offered. The scenes with Tywin stole the show as usual. In addition I don't think the actual developments in this season, save from the very end, was interesting or engaging enough to topple the first two seasons.

On the plus side Daenarys's story has picked up and she's growing into an interesting character, as opposed to somewhat of a distraction.
Also, Jon's back at Castle Black awaiting a wildling invasion, which is quite fun. I guess season 4 promises to be at least as interesting as this season, I just hope the show picks up the pace a bit and is given a bit more focus. Which could well happen due to the Red Weddings slaughtering of a few characters.

What did you make of the season as a whole?

Meh, it could have been so much more.

I don't think they spaced the story out very well this season. There were quite a few episodes with very little action or plot progress, in contrast to the final couple of episodes where there was probably too much happening at once. It's all well and good finishing the season with a bang but not at the expense of the other 8 episodes.

Agree with the dialogue. Quite a few scenes had some pretty cringeworthy dialogue, particularly some of the Jon Snow/Ygritte and Robb/Robb's wife ones. Obviously anything involving Tywin has you glued to the screen, Charles Dance is just fantastic.

Decent enough series but I don't think it stands up to the previous two, despite the epicness of the Red Wedding.

Agreed. Feels like they could have tightened the first 8 episodes into half the time and maybe dropped the wedding in mid-way through the season.

This would've pepped everyone up for the second half of the season and kept us on edge.

The first series was by quite a distance the best. At the moment GoT sits comfortably behind shows like The Sopranos and The Wire for me. Still good entertainment though.
