Television Game of Thrones (TV) • The watch has ended

What about a game of death pool in episode 7? Surely quite a few is going to bite the dust.

Jon, Tormund, Davos, Thoros, Berric, Sandor and Gendry all heading north. The march of the seven.

Leak readers; please refrain from participating.

Lives: Jon, Davos, Sandor, Thoros. Dies: Berric (nailed on), Gendry and Tormund
Not Davos. You mean Mormont?

Also LF doesn't know that Arya seen what was written on scroll. He's under the assumption that she's just snooping around. He actually doesn't know that he's going to try to use that against Sansa. Possible scenario is that he'll show that to all other lords - the letter that Sansa wrote to Rob to bend the knee. Or he's likely to play them off against each other. Anyway, she's like 3 moves ahead so Baelish is outmanoeuvred.

So he's dead.

Watch the video I posted about Inside the episode a little ways up. Dont think thats the case at all.

I don't think Littlefinger makes it out of this one alive, but I do like that he's doing some actual scheming again, instead of just standing around acting shady as the camera lingers on him.

That's exactly how I feel. I'm only after watching the old episodes before this and the difference in quality is telling in my opinion. They're just cramming as much as they can into an hour and it just feels stupid.

I was really frustrated with the last few episodes for the same reason but kind of given upon reasoning with the whole timing aspect of it.Because of that, I enjoyed this episode.

There are loads of reasons the whole cramming thing. If they have to match the timeline aspect of it, its going to take ages, it must have been poor production planning in hindsight. The production crew would have expected atleast some source material by now when they started the TV show, but that didnt happen. Combine that with the whole cast getting older and expensive, makes it a nightmare to keep along with the whole time-space continuum of the past seasons.

Its pretty obvious she's going to have a miscarriage. The prophecy from that froggy lady in the forest stated that she'll only have 3 kids. All of them will die. She'll marry the king and not the prince (she was promised to Rhaegar before Robert killed him) Basically all the shit that witch lady said came true. Cersei ain't having a kid.

I think she is just faking it to manipulate Jaime. It would give him something to fight for.

Yeah that makes sense too. Except I expect Arya to see through that. Since she's been trained by faceless men in the art of deception. Either way. Little finger is dead at the end of the season.

yeah that could be true. Also Jamie finding put that she's having him on could be the turning point as well.

I'm guessing The Hound dies north of the wall and becomes the wight they bring back to King's Landing to show that the stories are true.

And then shit goes south and The Undead Mountain has to fight The Undead Hound and we finally have CleganeBowl.

Wait so how are they going to bring a wight back? Like Im sure they are going to find the army of the dead. When the undead see the Magnificent Seven, they are all going to rush them. So how do they get just one?

I like the way you think.

I don't know but they showed that cage. I'm guessing they're going to ambush them.

Probably have 3 people being used as bait whilst everyone else swoops in and takes one.
Anyway. From watching the promos, it doesn't look like a successful mission.

I like that too.

I'd spoiler that last part, just to be safe.

Unrelated the quoted post; with the way time seems to fly between scenes at the moment Cersei should be having her supposed baby halfway through the next episode.

Tyrion made it from the battlefield to Dragonstone, went to King's Landing and back with Davos and sent Gendry North of the Wall with Jon, all in the same episode. That's at least a couple of months of travel time. We should be able to see Cersei's belly growing between scenes, unless she's full of shite. Actually, being full of shite would make a belly grow too.

Finally doing something aside from being the voyeur. If Tyrion goes back to his old self as well in the form of a sarcastic drunk I'll be happy.

They've very nearly fouled up the best characters in the story. Arya is next it seems.

Also I think the deadpool should be for episode 6. About the next episode -
Shits going down mate

Either way - My guesses:
Lives on - Snow, Hound, Gendry and Tormund | Dies - Berric, Thoros and Mormont

It shouldn't bother me but it really does. I don't mind time jumps but they need to be uniform and logical.

That episode was way too much.

Yeah it just seems fecking daft if I'm honest. I absolutely loved everything about the past 6 seasons but there's only one episode I like in season 7 in hindsight. Game of Thrones was always good at following times lines. Now it's all over the fecking place.

Like it started off 'ok' in the first episode. By this episode people are literally fecking using interstellar travel.

I don't usually mind the time jumps, but I don't understand how Jamie and Bronn stayed underwater long enough to escape the notice of a wounded dragon and a horde of Dothraki looking for loot.

Unless there was a storyline about Bronn being an Olympic swimmer that I forgot.

But like in previous seasons, they were still setting up characters. So when there were gaps in between they filled it with showing the audience the formation of different character roles. But now what do they show? There are only two main story plots left - the fight for the throne and the Whitewalkers. They cant have Jon taking two episodes just to reach the wall from Dragonstone. What do they cover in between? They need to pay people per minute of screen time I presume and their budgets might be saved for battles scenes like the previous episode.

Yeah now I think the last scene of the last episode was absolutely pointless. They could have just left Jaime and Bronn running away from the battle scene on their horses cause it would have accomplished the same purpose. Im guessing they included that scene just for the show to be more dramatic.

They could have a bigger renunions. Like I mean we could actually hear the dialogue about Aryas story for instance. Sansa and her talking about the hound etc. Just an example. I know some people may find that boring but I just feel like there's this great strory and it's all intertwined but somehow it just feels like they're making a mess of it. Of course this is just my opinion. I mean I'm weird like that. I like emphasis on storytelling, different narratives coming together and subtleties, which we had for the past 6 years. Now, this season, we've found out what would have taken us a full season. Because of what? Budgeting constaraints and characters getting old? I mean, it's not a great excuse.

Yes but didnt they decide last season there are only going to be around 14 episodes left to tell the whole story. Its not like they havent decided when to end the show and kept going. When you have an end in mind, you need to progress at a certain pace to tell the whole story within the allotted time. And Im not having a go at you for having this sort of an opinion. You are more than entitled to it but Im just trying to justify what the show is trying to do.

Simply swimming to the surface in Chain mail and a breast plate with only one hand would have been fun to watch.

Obviously I'm going to watch the rest of the show to it's conclusion but it's a solid 7 out of 10 now. Good, but not great.

In previous seasons, the dragon scene with Jon would have been 10 minutes. Tyrion & Jaimes reunion would have been 3 segments across a whole episode. We've been forced to abandon the idea that this is a huge and dangerous world.

I'm sure it'll end well. I just need to accept the new normal.

This whole timeline argument is like people arguing how ridiculous the whole Fast and Furious series is. Well no fecking shit its all bloody impossible to do what they do in real life. Just take these things at face value and I feel you will enjoy it more for it is - a show, a movie. Dont overthink and over analyze all this stuff.

Yeah I know what the show is trying to do as well. It's just I guess it's my fault. As I'm a fan of the GoT lore and ASOIAF too.

The way it's going (the pace on the tv series) they're going to leave out so much more when the new book comes out.

Anyway, I'm away to bed. Despite everything, I can not wait until the next week.

To be fair, characters are getting a lot more screen time now since so many have been taken out of the game. In previous seasons you had a dozen characters all doing different things, while there's only four major stories now that Sam's fecked off from the Citadel to reunite with his friends.

1. Jon's fight against the dead.
2. Cersei's fight with everyone but herself.
3. Dany's fight for the throne and alliance with Jon.
4. The shit stirring in Winterfell

I guess Theon could be a bit-part player outside of the four big ones as well, but not big enough to warrant any significant screen time.

So you have an hour of TV that needs to be filled and four separate arcs to use, where two separate arcs (1+3 and 1+4) are directly linked at times. It's no surprise things move along quite quickly. They have over 10 minutes on average each. Before the different arcs might've gotten five minutes every other episode or so.

It's just difficult to adjust to the change in pace. I recently started rewatching from the beginning, and it feels like a completely different show. Season 1 in particular stands out.

Picture of the letter please anyone?

Robb, I write to you with a heavy heart. Our good king Robert is dead, killed from wounds he took in a boar hunt. Father has been charged with treason. He conspired with Robert’s brothers against my beloved Joffrey and tried to steal his throne. The Lannisters are treating me very well and provide me with every comfort. I beg you: come to King’s Landing, swear fealty to King Joffrey and prevent any strife between the great houses of Lannister and Stark.

Your faithful sister,
Sansa

Whats the impact of that letter though in terms of Arya and LF?

Cheers mate. Didn't get chance to read it when it was on screen. Seems it will create tension between Arya and Sansa, but I still don't see what LF gets out of it. If Arya offs Sansa he's fecked anyways as Arya can't stand him.

Arya will definitely go against Sansa. The idea is to isolate Sansa, he knows Arya is dangerous and he's trying to take Arya out.

What will feck him up is he doesn't know about Bran's abilities.

LF is trying to make Sansa the queen in the North and then marry Sansa.

Arya is already going up against Sansa. LF could get her banished from Winterfell but thats about it. He cant take out Arya. She can put up another face and come inside the castle any time she wants to if that indeed happens.
