Television Game of Thrones (TV) • The watch has ended

Sorry if this has been answered, but how did the Dothraki get from Dragonstone to Highgarden in a day or two with no ships?

they had some ships left. It was mentioned in the show wasn't it?

they did not get to Highgarden. They got to a spot on the road between Highgarden and Kings Landing, somewhere not too far from the Blackwater Rush. In case you had not noticed by time the attack occurred they were not at the castle anymore.

We don't know the time frame. Except we know it was after the army had finished gathering up the crops from the Reach. So it is likely it is more than a day or two after. Dragonstone is not that far from Kings Landing and thus not that far from where the battle took place.

God, episode 4 was amazing, i have already watched this episode 4 times, that fighting scene with the Dokhraki army and Dragon destroying lannister army, i can watch it everyday till my death tbh. It really is the best show on tv by far, but i have some quick questions?

1) Was this all of Lannister army?
2) I don't think anybody believes Jamie or Bron is dead, what gain could be achieved in keeping them hostage? Why not kill them and send Cercei a message?
3) What if the other two dragons are being used to destroy Euron and his ships simultaneously? how possible is that theory?
4) In the next episode preview Dany asks commoners to bend the knee are they Lannisters hostages?
5) why was john know not there with Tryian and other Dothraki Lords?

If any kind person can answer some of these that would be great thanks in advance.
Because it's not his battle yet and they haven't officially become allies even if they're friendly. Probably because he still had to supervise the Dragonglass project too.

Thanks mate.

It is literally on the other side of Westeros and Dragonstone is an island. Must be some rational explanation.

The battle was much closer to King Landing then you think. Watch the scene again, they have left Highgarden, had enough time to gather all the crops, and almost complete their trip to KL. In fact part of their convoy and army had already arrived at Kings Landing.

There are 9 more episodes of this show. That's about 10-12 hours of television, give or take. They have to conclude both the war for the throne (with a shitload of players/pawns still in the game) and deal with the threat of the White Walkers.

Excuse me for not giving a shit about the lack of consistency re: geography and time at this point. With 13 episodes left, and a ton of storylines to conclude, there isn't really much else to do than to take some creative liberties to further the plot.

Would you rather see fecking Jon and Davos talking about Dany's tits on a boat for three episodes? How about watching Brienne and Pod camping and training in the outback for yet another season (and still watch Pod be shit at fighting)? That was so fun the last time around. Or Arya swatting air in Braavos for two seasons. Perhaps you'd like to see Missandei and Grey Worm waste everyone's time making bad jokes in Mereen? And then they can cram the whole conclusion of the show in the last two episodes of S8! Great idea.

All of you who are complaining about this time and time again; do you have any suggestions other than expanding the seasons to 10 episodes like before?

Yeah I wrote that before you replied the first time. Thanks again for clearing it up.

Probably one of the best hours of television I have watched.

after seeing Arya's and Bran's new 'ways' he is going to make a power play with Sansa when Jon inevitably bends the knee to Dany. She will become Queen of the North as the eldest remaining real Stark (Bran refuses his identity now)

No one is at High Garden, the battle happened on route to Kings Landing and they must be close to Kings Landing as they said some wagons had already passed through.

Also I don't understand why people complain about people moving too fast. Do they really want episodes of people just travelling?

I sort of disagree, not that it matters much. Having been through all the books and watched through six seasons of build up it would be a bit of a let down if they rushed through the end with logical breaks and what not.

I would guess that someone reliable was in command of the gold escort, but not necessarily someone we know in the series. Let's face it the armies are large and not every sub-unit commander is going to be a major character in the show or even a minor character.
.
No of course not but we know that Cersei has trust issues. The mountain might have come and took over from Randyll Tarly though.

At the same time Jamie refers to the soldiers as 'his army' which suggests a fair sized portion of it was present.
Yes and it could have been Tarly men that escorted the gold not Lannister men. We don't know. We may never know.

This again and again. We know the numbers of episodes have been reduced therefore we have to expect a fast pace and imperfections. They're doing a great job moving the story forward IMHO. Slowly now we see the battle for the Iron throne is a child's game for everyone.

Onion Knight with the best combo of the series
"I've seen you staring at that heart">"fewer">"speaking of good hearts" (my favorite) >"king snow/jon">"would you mind if I change sides?"

Nice episode, enjoyed it very much.

This thread is quite difficult to moderate, due to scripts leak it's hard to differentiate between the spoilers written by someone who has read leaks or the just genuine speculation.
InfiniteBoredom has confirmed he's read the leaks in the book thread and has already alluded to something that will happen in there. Safer to ban him from here, if he isn't already.

And he's type to "predict" something to make himself look clever.

At this point not even a doable suggestion. So the best thing to do is
1) Accept that the time frame has sped up. Like the major battle last night, we really have no idea how long after the battle at Highgarden this is. A couple of days? A week? A few weeks? A month? So people can't complain about it being time travel since they don't know how much time has passed since the previous scenes.
2) Accept that they may move characters around more quickly then they did in the past since they don't have a need to show the travel. Earlier in the show some major character development was done on trips but for most of the characters nothing will really come out of endless travel scenes and dialogues around the campfire.
3) They may take some short cuts to get to the good stuff.

he does seem more wanting to create discussion just for the sake of pissing and moaning about things or trying to wind people up.

Okay, was I the only one who caught more than a subtle reference to old westerns in that battle scene, at least before the dragon showed up. A wagon train. The scenery. The sound of horses approaching in the distance and the war whoops of the Dothraki.

This is not a complaint, I think there was an intentional nod towards old westerns and I am fine with it.

Give me the Banhammer power and i will have this thread running smoothly in no time.

Its amazing how Snow is on the fire side and Dany is on the ice side (courtesy of the Buzzfeed article).

Also somehow giving Bronn ample time to reload and reaim his giant crossbow after that first shot nearly missed... What was that? Fair play?

No way she could have seen where it came from or even what it was. If in the next episode Dany & Co. don't mention the scorpion and the need to quickly identify and destroy it that'll be weak.

I anticipate some sort of reunion between Tyrion and Bronn, if that's done properly it'll have been worth keeping him alive

Why do people who don't have a problem with the pacing have a problem with other people having a problem with the pacing.

I had no problem with the pacing today but I don't have a problem with somebody else who does.

Anyone know the location where the battle scene was shot? Great scenery!
