Television Game of Thrones (TV) • The watch has ended

Weren't the Whitewalkers able to breach the three eyed ravens place because bran had been marked by the Whitewalker? Does the same apply to the wall, will Bran passing through it break whatever magic has kept the Whitewalkers out before?
I thought they only found Bran because they connected when Bran did his thing where his eyes go white? Dont think they can track Bran wherever he goes.

Speculation on Bran...
Hopefully that happens next episode. I would assume the Reeds are present at Winterfell what with Jon being crowned King of the North. So daddy Reed can confirm Brans story. That would also cause issues with Jon Snow mind you as i'm not sure if he'd technically be the next Stark?

Lyanna was younger than Ned I think, so does the Lordship pass to Bran? Or given that he's been crowned King of the North would it even matter?
Jon
im not sure the rules of succession are have been set out?

More importantly than all of this, why the feck was Dragon Tits' castle left completely unoccupied and untouched?

It was Stannis' seat under Robert's rule, detested by him, as he always saw Storm's End (the Baratheon ancestral home) as his birth right. He and all of his men left it behind in the war of the five kings.

I'm not sure either. I'm wondering if that could prove to be an issue when Bran returns and reveals the truth. Could be a situation that Littlefinger could manipulate if he found out as well.
Speculation
Step down as King of the North, Arise Prince Consort to the Queen to the Seven Kingdoms

Which house was in a position to claim it? The Lannisters have been pre-occupied in King's Landing, the Tyrells, who were allied with the Lannisters until Cersei went all Guy Fawkes, were also pre-occupied in King's Landing. The Martells were busy killing their own king and are in open rebellion to the Crown, so a move on Dragonstone would be an act of aggression they're not prepared for. The Greyjoys were again pre-occupied with domestic turmoil. Euron has only just been made king and was busy building his fleet (which he managed to accomplish far too quickly). And all the Northern Houses were involved in the war. There was nobody really in a position to send a force strong enough to hold Dragonstone.

So the only realistic option is that, if it was occupied, it was by a small group of Stannis' people left behind - and even if that was the case I'd doubt they'd stick around when they saw a gigantic enemy fleet and three dragons approaching.

I don't think it's unrealistic to expect the castle to be left vacant.

If I was some homeless dude round there and there was a big feck off empty castle I'd be all up in its business. I mean, there wasn't even a scrap of graffiti!

A quick question, did I miss Arya killing Walder Frey in the previous season? Or is her having his face basically means she already killed him off screen ?

I believe it was literally the last scene of the last series. She feeds him the pie made of his sons, then slits his throat.
Not the last scene (cause I watched it on Sunday!), Daenerys on the sea with the dragons was, but yeah that's what happened!

Exactly what I thought 'where are the fecking squatters FFS'.
Dragonstone is literally a rock in the sea. You'd need to be a squatter with a ship to even get there. With a ship and large food supplies, or you'd starve on that rock.

On the other hand they are not so sure on how long it takes anyone to get anywhere. I'd like to call it the Westeros uncertainty principle.
You know it isn't filmed like 24, right? There are different and sometimes significant time differences between scenes, it ain't all happening at the same time.

No shit? There's still people like Littlefinger who have frequently appeared in way too many places in way too short time. Super-ASOIAF-nerd Preston Jacobs calls him Batfinger for it, because he must own some sort of Batmobile.

Have a look at the map and work out how euron made it to kings landing without bumping into dany et al

Watches show about dragons and zombies. Complains about unrealistic travelling times.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't that require him boning his aunt? Not that I think they would shy away from that in this show

To be fair, fantasy (and sci-fi) needs to be rooted in the rules/lore it establishes. Game of Thrones asks us to accept 'magic' as it specifically defines it. Time dilation isn't a part of that. But if it is, and is never addressed, that's a failing of the story-telling and should rightly be criticised.

Having said all of that, I agree with an earlier poster who said that the different story-lines are happening in different, non-concurrents, timeframes.

Err...the point is, things need to be explained whether fantasy or not. It is obvious people will have questions otherwise. If you see Jon Snow turning into a woman in the middle of a battle, you can't say, oh it's a show about magic and blah blah so it's ok.

You could if it was magic that turned him into a woman.

Not to mention people would have shit fits over the endless travel scenes. I mean they already piss and moan about every scene that does not have some huge event or great important line in it.

They take a bit of liberty to keep the story moving especially when endless travel scenes would add nothing to the story.

You do not need to show travel scenes for the travels to exist within the timeline of the world you're creating.

Yeah that's exactly the point. Need some sort of explanation at some point. Like the alternate time lines are believable or any other theories that might have been discussed.
Or you just fecking relax and realize they are just moving the story along and stop whining. Or if it really bothers you stop watching. Your problem solved.

Exactly so just accept they travelled or if it bothers you so much stop watching the show.

Why would he stop watching the show? He wants to know the logic behind the quick travel? How will not watching the show help? Do you get touchy when people question logic?

Haven't the writers explained the time travel stuff like a million times? Who wants to see episode after episode of people traveling about?
