Really solid opener I thought, not quite a 10/10 episode but it was better for that imo as it focused more on getting everyone into the right locations, story building etc.
Favourite moments include the Hound, every line he uttered was of pure spite and hilarious as hell, just felt the scene might have had more gravitas if the fire had turned ice cold and we could get a slight glimpse of what he was seeing but still an eerie scene.
Loved seeing Sam in the library but just wish they spent less time on him cleaning shit, and more on his ventures into the restricted section of the library. The connection between Jon Snow, Sam and Danaerys... was a tad too obvious, with the references to Dragonstone but guess with the time restrictions they want to make it explicitly clear this is a place of huge tactical significance.
Ed Sheeran's cameo was a little cringe but at least it generated some buzz, although probably for the wrong reasons. Would have been funnier to see Arya stick needle in him.
Dynamic between Sansa and Jon is captivating and very interesting to follow. I find littlefinger to be a distraction and they need to make him more subtle as right now he comes across as a desperate comic villian and he's at his best, when he's hard to read.
Tyrion is becoming a useless character at the moment, hope he starts getting more lines.. right now he's wasted.
Euron came across better than he did last season, so that was good to see.. I think it is the Dragon Horn he will be retrieving for Cersei, as it makes sense that they need a weapon which can defeat or obtain the dragons in order to severely weaken Danaerys...
and it may require support from the North, to push the final battle of this season, back in favour of the good guys.
Episode was going well until the point where Arya met a bunch of out of character soldiers in the forest (basing on the show's context). The Hound scenes are still fantastic.
I think that's the point of the scene, to be honest. Considering there's going to be a multi-directional conflict taking place this season, with huge battles taking place across the map, the show's making sure we recognise that whether they're ruled by Cersei or whether they're ruled by Daenerys, the soldiers are ultimately cannon fodder - small pawns in a big game. We've spent so much time following the big players, the 1% of Westeros if you will, that we have admittedly lost sight of the fact that thousands of human beings have had to die for their causes. Scenes like Arya's with the Lannister soldiers humanise a section of "the enemy" and tell us they're not really "the enemy" at all, they're just hired to kill other humans being by people like Cersei. I don't care about the show sticking to the books anymore because the show's got a different job to do now, but GRRM's original story was always anti-war and it'd be great if the show could keep sight of that fact as we cheer on our favourite characters while they're hacking down folk who are technically innocent.
Deleted a couple of post regarding the supposed gift of Euron to Cersei(which hasn't been mentioned in the show at all). It has been spoiled for me now, @Pscholes18 don't mention it in your subsequent posts now. I'll start thread banning people now FFS.
@RedSky i feel like you have a littlefingeresque agenda with this thread. Setting people up to take the fall for your own benefit? Which mod are you trying to displace?
At this point the ones really ruining any discussion about the show are the ones who just think it is cool to come in after every episode and state how awful everything about the show is. it is getting as bad as the Walking Dead thread. Honestly, I can't understand why people would continue to watch a show they obviously get no entertainment from. I mean I watched the first 2 seasons of Lost, got bored with it, so I stopped watching, I didn't keep watching it so I could complain about the things I did not like about it, I just moved on. It would seem a lot more intelligent to do that, then just piss and moan about everything to do with the show.

Wouldn't it be better to have a separate "Thrones spaculation" thread? That would certainly alleviate the pressure in this one. Then people who enjoy spoilers, leaks and book stuff can post freely without having to defend every use of the words "book" or "I think that...".
Thoughts on the episode. Don't worry I haven't read the books. To be honest, I can't actually read.
I was so confused as to what Samwise Gamgee was talking about. "Where the wall meets the sea". WTF mate, I thought this place was in the south. Apparently this Dragonmouth island has a wall on it or something, that is different to the wall up North. That's where that blonde dragon mother is now (south Island).
For anyone watching all the seasons in the future, I feel the jump between seasons was a bit jarring.
Ed Shearer should die. Not in real life obviously but everything about that was awful. Every other time a seemingly weak person has met up with a group of stronger people, they have been taken advantage of. I know there were lots of hints when looking at their swords, but my god.
I also feel like everything is being set up a little too well.
North - Starks
East - Blonde Dragon Woman
South - Sandy people
West - That old bag.
Centre - Queen incest.
If I had to guess
I'd guess that Queen incest will attack West, where the old bag lives, to keep supply of the food. The sandy people will then attack Kings Landing. Whilst that's going on, the iron islanders will attack West, where Blonde Dragon Woman lives. John Snow will send someone down there too, possibly himself.
I think they can get another 4 seasons out of this easily without making it boring...

Err...okay? I'm not sure what that's got to do with my post, but fair enough matey.
For the record though, I get what you are saying, but I'm also of the opinion this is a discussion forum so I guess people are allowed to discuss whichever way they feel. I stopped watching walking dead for that very reason myself, I just kept moaning about it and ended up finding no redeeming qualities. For me that thread became more interesting than the show
Nope. I did a map though to try and work out where everyone went North of the wall. Just so I could work out where the feck the white walkers were roughly.
Well we do have a general idea. Between the Twins and the Eyrie. Also they're heading North to the wall so i'd imagine they'd be close to the Kings Road.
Arya, ironically is actually very close to Hound in this episode as she was travelling South towards Kings Landing and she was around Riverrun. So she was probably like 50miles away from him.
In the Riverlands. He met the (now) dead father and the girl when he was taking Arya to the Eyrie. They had offered them shelter for the night and food but the Hound repaid their kindness by stealing their silver. His dialogue with Arya after that shows why now he's feeling bad about it.
It's been confirmed by Benioff and Weiss that it's the same people as in season 4, if you have doubts.
They already know where everything is though.
And, the map was shown twice last night so maybe they want us to look at it now the end game is coming. The chess board is almost set.
Hopefully that happens next episode. I would assume the Reeds are present at Winterfell what with Jon being crowned King of the North. So daddy Reed can confirm Brans story. That would also cause issues with Jon Snow mind you as i'm not sure if he'd technically be the next Stark?
Lyanna was younger than Ned I think, so does the Lordship pass to Bran? Or given that he's been crowned King of the North would it even matter?
Weren't the Whitewalkers able to breach the three eyed ravens place because bran had been marked by the Whitewalker? Does the same apply to the wall, will Bran passing through it break whatever magic has kept the Whitewalkers out before?
