Television Game of Thrones (TV) • The watch has ended

Okay opening epsiode, Hound obviously the best part.

For those who brought up the dragon horn thing, when and who mentioned that in the show?
Mods should threadban those guys. And I'm serious, how hard is it not to quote the book in the thread that specifically tells you not to.

If this was episode 1 of 10, then yeah, I'd be content, well, I am content, but I'm kinda worried, with only 6 eps left, how are they going fit everything in!?

As for the Ed Sheeran cameo, can totally see how it would suck someone out of the moment (similar to seeing Harry Styles in the Dunkirk trailer), but I enjoyed the humanizing of the young Lannister grunts.

The Hound, Beric and Thoros were expectedly fantastic. His character development has been aces.

My only issue with that scene (other than Ed Sheeran) is how pointless it felt in a show that should be pressed for time.

Aryas scene with the Lannisters just didn't make sense, she had literally just commited genocide and now she's koom-ba-ya'n around the fireplace with troops of the family she despises more than any.

I've heard of Ed Sheeran but never listened to one of his songs or seen him on TV. That scene did nothing for me one way or the other.

Decent first ep with the first scene by far the best thing that happened. Ed Sheeran's cameo was so bad it was hilarious.

Another problem I think the show has is something I noticed last season - the guy playing Bran, having got through puberty, can't act for shit. One solution to this is to have him warg his way through most of the next two seasons.

If Cersei marries Euron, Dany should marry Yara.
Her family was OK with incest, don't see why a gay marriage would be an issue.

Opening scene was good. Rest was setting up fine. Ed Sheeran needed to slip and get beheaded accidentally to make it a great episode.

Wouldn't say that. Having some pretty one the nose dialogue while being on a sledge all the time would make Tom Hanks struggle.

Has Dany got a fetish for men with nothing going on downstairs? The unsullied, Varys, Theon...she's surrounded herself with them.

Isn't that Stannis' old castle?

  • Cersei Lannister: falsely accused Arya’s father, Ned Stark, of treason and had him arrested, which led to his death
  • Ilyn Payne: beheaded Ned on orders from Joffrey Baratheon
  • Gregor “the Mountain” Clegane: tortured and killed people at Harrenhal, where Arya was imprisoned
  • Sandor “the Hound” Clegane: killed Arya’s friend, Mycah, the butcher’s boy
  • Melisandre: took Gendry away
  • Beric Dondarrion: sold Gendry to Melisandre
  • Thoros of Myr: sold Gendry to Melisandre
Sandor is no longer on the Kill List

Did they just show Yara making out with Danny in the teaser? In that case, maybe that's what she was waiting for?

I thought that was one of the Sand Snakes?[\spoiler]

How Jorah/Greyscale can be cured:

I just read this article on buzzfeed where a poster paused the premiere when Sam was reading one of those books where he found dragonstone that a couple of lines say something about a cure but the other half of the page is cut off. Since the entire book is about dragonglass, there is speculation that dragon glass can be used to cure greyscale. Also Shireen is the only one who had supposedly halting the effects of GS and where did she grow up? DRAGONSTONE, where there is plenty of dragon glass.

Very interesting that.

No book talk ffs!

Its a bit hard to read sarcasm over the net and people get too testy here and ban people as soon as book talk is mentioned. So had to make it clear.
I bolded every bit related to books in your spoiler to make it obvious, but I get your point.

So far only seen the scene before he opening credits - Arya is fecking awesome!

Forget his cameo, why do folks hate Ed Sheeran? Not just here, other places are like "enjoyed the scene BUT I feckING HATE ED SHEERAN!"

I liked the first episode. It's been a while since season 6 so it suited me to have an episode that reminded us where everyone is in their story arc.

Disappointed Tyrion had no lines.

Anyone think Money by Pink Floyd was about to start playing during the repetitive montage at the library?
