Television Game of Thrones (TV) • The watch has ended

So Cersei, Walder Frey and Mountainstein are on Arya's list, one of those we haven't seen in years, one is already basically dead and I'm not sure that's the best route for Cersei's demise. If that is where we're going with the Arya arc then they're going to have to do some work to make me interested again.

It's a (cough, cough) Stark contrast to when she was possibly the best part of the show.

I agree totally.

Also did anyone think of the Time Travel element when that flashback event happened ? :p

D&D writing fresh material with no input from GRRM?

5 minuted each arc ruins it for me, I'd rather they go selectively like in the previous got. Brand can go a season without time screen, but it really makes the story clearer.

Not even tyrion doesn't have enough lines to entertain no more.

They're better off making it a 30minute each arc but only 2 arc one episode. It really feels choppy

I agree.

Edit I mean even the plot threads they are showing more of(the Wall) they do a short piece at the beginning of the episode then come back to it at the end of the episode rather than showing an extended clip.

I didn't mind it as much as you lot.

Phone came out when Samwise appeared though I must admit.

Another direwolf decapitated :(. I'll not be impressed if we've got more Ramsey torture porn to look forward to this season though. We get it, he's a very sick man.

I feel like we're also conveniently pausing on the whitewalker storyline too. They should be banging down the wall right about now.

1 thing I found interesting

how bran managed to talk to young ned. He definitely heard him, as bran gets more powerful could he learn to travel back, and potentially change history? I wonder when he finds out "the truth", what that'll mean for him.

Why would you want more episodes if you feel many are already fillers ?

I actually like where KL is going. I didn't like this episode. But you can see the Faith guy and Cersei both trying to brainwash Tommen to be on their side. He's already shown all signs of being the important deciding factor in the war of the Lannisters against Dorne against The Faith. I am not sure who the Dornish will align with or if they will fight on their own, but Kings Landing will not be in very good shape by the end of the season is my reckoning. Great news for Snow though.

Dany's story has been straightforward. You know there is a Hero moment coming by Episode 7-8 while the others clean up Mereen and await her arrival with the massive Dothraki army.
IDK, sometimes I feel like the show is rushed at some points yet incredibly slow at other points. All the King's Landing stuff this season could have been condensed greatly and they could have used that time for better purposes, like not including some characters that are in the books.
This season seems to be building up to a lot though. The King's Landing stuff seems to be building up to a lot of fighting between Dorne, Lannisters and Tyrells and the Faith Militant. I agree, I like where it is going just I think that it should have been sped up more. But once it comes down to it, I reckon it will be like the Battle of Blackwater which was fecking epic.
The stuff with Dany is also very slow but also building up to a lot. I speculate that Dany is going to scare the living shit out of the Dothraki using her dragon and then she will unite some Dothraki to go and feck the Sons of the Harpy over.

All in all, really excited for this season. Despite it being slow, you can tell it is building up to a lot with Sansa in the north, Baelish in the Eerie, Sam going back to potentially help Jon who potentially might help Sansa, Bran and his amazing abilities, the Ironborne stuff, the King's Landing drama. There's so much stuff I can't even name it all. That is why I think they should have had more episodes, but episodes that are more dense with the storyline etc. But I get that that is unreasonable to want given that their budget is ultimately finite.

To be honest, I love Ramsey's character. I do agree with you, the direwolves are epic and it saddens me to seem them killed.

Is it the Jon Snow spoiler @Damien is referring to in the global alert? Or is it another show? Got me curious all of a sudden...
Yeah. Lawman posted this in the LVG Out thread: LVG doing a John Snow as much as I want top 4 and FA cup this guy has to go regardless.

There was another post about what happened to Jon Snow in another United/football thread the day the episode aired too.

Remember how Cersei said her fate was to be decided by a Trial By Combat ? Now remember, Arya being specifically questioned about the Hound's death and his character been given more importance than Cersei, Walder Frey ? Piece those two together. Could we see a Mountain vs Hound combat ? Dead vs Dead ??

Just thought of another way this could be dealt with. That constant questioning by that unlikeable lady about the Hound might also indicate how Arya feels about him and whether she is ready to assume his identity. If she is and once her training is complete, she might assume the identity of the Hound (I don't know if this face swapping thing only works with Alive people or not tbh) and go after Frey, Cersei, The Mountain.

I defo think theres something regarding Hound and Frey. I was thinking imagine if this girl is related to Frey. Or she know something about the Hound (eg hes alive).
They did focus on Arya saying he was dead though.

Also, did they do a fart gag this week when The Mountain walked into the council meeting?
Yeah. But it's speculative who let er' rip though. Wait till next episode to find the answer.

Lol, you just spoilered something I posted quite openly. The reason I did it is because I meant it as a joke. The show would lose all credibility if they did something like that.

It's expected really. I am not expecting much from Sam until much later in this season or maybe even next season though. Same with the Ironborn stuff.

I can understand why people want certain arcs rushed and others explained in greater detail, but that's never going to happen really, not just for budgetary reasons, but also doing so much fan-service would degrade the quality of the show massively. It's a TV show and you will always find something to complain about. For example, I don't think this season will be as good as people seem to think, but I hope the high budget action scenes prove me wrong.

That Lord Umber or whatever was pretty cool. Need more Tyrion. Dany is pointless and I, as always dozed off when Sam decided to show up. It was fine.

Well, she assumes he is dead basically though. By girl, you mean the one with the stick ? Oh, wow. I didn't consider that at all. But why frey, she kept asking about the Hound.

Conspiracy theory: that wolf's head isn't Shaggy Dog's and Rickon/the Umbers are playing the long con with Ramsay to get themselves into a position to betray them later.

Is he? Who's he ever beaten in a fight? I just remember Jamie clowning him in season 1.

Also, did they do a fart gag this week when The Mountain walked into the council meeting?
Pretty sure it was even between him and Jaime but one of the swordsmen decided to put a spear through Ned's leg.

Arthur was pretty much the best of them all though, badass as feck.

And where the feck have they gotten a direwolf head from? They are extinct south of the wall.

Stop killing the fecking wolves.
Only three left now. :(

Summer, Nymeria (MIA since season one) and Ghost.
And where the feck have they gotten a direwolf head from? They are extinct south of the wall.
Maybe it belonged to a very big wolf/dog? It was always a far-fetched theory. Chances are that the Umber's just want help getting rid of the Wildings.

I care about Ghost more than any "human" on the show. I'd be fecking devastated if they kill him off.
I feel like that about all of the Dire Wolves. Grey Wind's death at the Red Wedding was the one that hurt the most for me.

Really enjoyed that episode.

So glad to see Olly hang but gutted to see Thorne go. He was one of the bad guys that you end up loving.

I am glad Arya's storyline has been given a bit of a kick up the arse. Hopefully we can see that get moving.

Danaerys could die now for all I care. All the stuff going on in her side of the world is so boring and I don't even care much about Tyrion nowadays.

Loving the Bran stuff. I find all the flashbacks and history really fascinating I hope we continue to see them.

Cannot wait to see where Jon goes from here. I think we all have a good idea what is going to happen and I cannot wait to see how it plays out.

Yeah stick girl I meant.
It was just cos Frey was brought up lol, nothing substantial. But defo, Hound is a curious one cos his name wasnt brought up by Arya but by girl with stick.

I originally thought that, but then its a really risky plan giving Rickon to a madman like Ramsay.

I like your thinking there. I think you are looking too much in to it though and it is exactly how it looked.
