Television Game of Thrones (TV) • The watch has ended

The religious police in King's Landing is annoying me. Surely they can release the King's army & Franken-Mountain to slaughter them all and crush any rebellion before it starts.
This, I thought the exact same when they were having a trial for the Tyrell's, don't really understand why they can't be swatted like flies.

Completely forgot about Theon's dad & sister. Not sure how they will fit in or who the uncle is.

Delighted Jon is back, as expected. Thought the scene was played well. The Wildlings & Jon make a formidable team, shame Stanis isn't around any more.

Also happy they didn't prolong Arya's training. Want to see her story progress more this season.

And poor Daenerys... lost basically 3 seasons worth of effort.

Too late for that, the cepton alone is easy to crush but the flock of masses in King's Landing won't be easy to handle should they decided to riot. But I do hope he got a gruesome death, I'm annoyed by their arc, but praise them making Cersei doing the walk of shame, shame it's a body double.

I didn't get the relevance of the brother on the bridge either. It's only after watching some YouTube clips that I semi understood why that bloke who was acting all big time was supposed to be important.

Probably setting it up for when Theon arrives back and makes it a battle of who is the worthy heir of their throne, since they don't want a woman in charge. I don't know.

Well it is his first appearance so maybe you have to wait and watch the story unfold to find out the relevance?

I had a random thought about the new guy yesterday...

Since Daenerys has just lost her fleet of ships... and it's the only thing the iron islands lot are good for... maybe the brother has been brought in to link the two... just a thought!

Or Yara and maybe Theon get left in the cold so they run off with some ships and end up in Mereen for some random reason.

A story doesn't leave you baffled during a scene.

No wait, sorry, GOT is perfect in every single way.
Oh yes he should have given this big long speech told us who he was and all his history, why he was there and what he will be doing in the future. Or you get a scene that tells us who he is, gives us a clue about why he is there (kills the leader doesn't he) and leaves us set up to see how his story will unfold. Story telling.

Nope GOT is not perfect but it is telling a story that is going to take a couple of more seasons to unfold. Heck we have characters from season 1 whose story is still unfolding. You didn't know everything about them from the moment they appeared it took time.

I don't have a problem with the mysterious character coming in as such - I just found the whole thing to be a bit jarring. We're thrown back to somewhere we haven't been for ages, characters we haven't seen for ages (I could barely remember that was Theon's dad) and then he's murdered by someone who we don't know whether we're supposed to remember or not (Don't know about most, but I'd say it can be difficult to keep track of all the minor characters we may or may not have met before) whilst he's talking about stuff that we're also not sure whether we're suppose to know about or not.

I can see why they did it the way they did, just found it a bit clunky.

Are we supposed to know who/what that weird looking thing was at the cave with Bran?

She's a child of the forest. Another redesign/recast from season four.

Here's a pic to refresh your memory.

And here's the redesign. Personally like it. Very Guillermo Del Toro/Pan's Labyrinth look to it.

Precisely.

It's not a major issue. The episode was one of the better ones, as I've already said. But moments like this where they just plonk things infront of you for a few minutes just come across as a bit adhoc. The new characters self-proclamations sounded really tacky. "I am the storm". Alright, mate, you just look like a normal guy getting wet in the rain.

It was very clunky. I'm not really sure why this is a bone of contention.

And then stuff like this...

I would've had no idea that this was the case either without you pointing it out.

Does anyone else think the Hound is still alive? Seems to have been forgotten about, but his 'death' was pretty dubious.
I have nothing to base this off whatsoever, but i could see him killing the mountain somehow if he is alive somewhere in a big reveal.

There is definitely more to come with what happened to the mountain. No one has seen his face since he was brought back. I can see something weird having gone on here and all is not as it seems. Again that is based on zilch just a feeling.

Could refer to Jaime killing the mad king? Maybe we'll see that via a Bran flash back.
Bran seems to seeing only flashbacks of his father. I don't think Ned was there when Jaime stabbed the Mad King.

How do you like that ? It's such a drastic shift of character and personality. I can only imagine the reason for such a recasting would be to make use of more profane language/narrative for the Bran storyline.

lol what? She said like one thing in season four. And why would they redesign a character like that just to use "profane" language? All they did is make the CotF more mystical looking as opposed to looking like human children in robes.

Ok, I think it's just a shooting thing.
The Child of the Forest we met then was played by young actress Octavia Alexandru. If the role being cast is a Child of the Forest, we don’t know if this new older actress is replacing Alexandru or playing a different character. It’s possible they wanted to take the Children in a different direction and cast someone older with more experience who is able to work more hours.

The child of the forest thing is fine. Too minuscule to matter really, and they know that.

Can someone refresh my memory as to what happened with the Marjorie Tyrell's grandmother? Completely forgotten what's happened to her.

Are we going to find out who Jon's parents are through a Bran flashback, do you think?

I think there's reference made to that in the trailer for next weeks episode. Bran goes to a flashback where a young ned stark is fighting some targareyn guards. (Apparently lyanna stark was held captive in a tower by rhegar targareyn) perhaps lyanna is pregnant with rhegar maybe? Will have to wait and see that! Can't wait though...
