Television Game of Thrones (TV) • The watch has ended

Dem old tittays

But yeah, weak opener. Now that they've caught up with the books I can't help getting the feeling this is going to go tits up. Unlike the ones that closed out the episode. Perhaps that was some kind of foreshadowing?

I was gonna make that joke until I realised you'd done it in the same post.

TBH, were in 2016. As I said before, weekly episodes is a thing of the past. Its all about binging now :P

Well not unless you master the weekly thing like HBO has with Game of Thrones....shits almost as big as the Superbowl when it airs, they need to get them worldwide airings more common, not just for premieres, for 2AM-3AM, I reckon it was still one of Sky Atlantics highest viewings of the week.

Typical weak-minded dipper. No wonder your club got bamboozled by the likes of Hicks and Hodgson. :D
I probably would have been there killing Starks at the Red Wedding as well. Robb Stark's naivety frustrated me so much.

There were a load of Brothers went up to Crasters with Old Mormont and saw what happened when the Walkers attacked. How many saw the two dead fellas come back alive to attack the old man agaon once they were back? Then there were another load who were at Hardholm and saw how they raised the dead to add to their army.

Quite aside from forgiving the wildlings, or needing them to fight alongside them. Every body left on the other side of the wall is another body they are going to have to fight eventually. The Nights Watch had to either kill every wildling and burn their bodies which they didn't have the numbers to do, or do what Jon did.

Thorne fancies himself as a leader so should be old enough and wise enough to put his own feelings aside and see the right decision for what it is.
I think the ones who killed Jon were all officers, and none were at Craster's. The ones at Hardhome were all Jon's mates like Edd. It'd probably be hard for someone like Thorn to put aside decades of fighting Wildlings to make peace with them so that they can fight an enemy that he's never seen, and that hasn't been around for centuries. I do understand why he did it, even if he's an idiot for doing so. When he see's the White Walker's strolling up he'll wish he had Jon alongside him.

I know, I said it in jest. Kinda same with TWD, even though its pretty stupid, the following is there for it to continue.

Ive just been spoilt, is all :P

The guys from season 1 or 2 who could resurrect

Aren't they the same religion as red lady. Surely it'll be something along those lines. I fear they will stretch it for most of the season before he returns though

The wall stuff was good, as was the Ramsey snow and Sansa stuff

I'm very very bored of the Arya storyline and I miss dwarf guy being in Kings landing

Yes and she's supposed to have more power at The Wall too. Pretty sure she's mentioned that.

After Melisandre gets in bed and it comes towards the credits, I'm sure inbetween the two I saw Jons body, very blurry.

That or I'm reading too much into everything in the hope he's alive

Damn you, you tricked me into rewatching that nude scene :nervous:
Don't think that it was a body tbf.

My main problem with GOT is that there are now so many story lines that all we are seeing is quick snaps of each story and not much depth. Still enjoyed it though.

Thought it was a very good episode. Went quite quickly & we got reintroduced to a lot more characters than I expected.

So Dorne will go to war with Kings Landing then? I was hoping the sand women wouldn't be as involved this season but seems that will be a central story.

Hopefully Arya's story isn't just going to be her training for 10 episodes. She's one of my favourite characters and I'm really hoping her story progresses this year.

Anyone who saw the new episode care to explain?

I don't think it's a mistake in the script. The moment she takes the necklace off the ruby on it flashes red for a second and then turns black again. After that the camera doesn't immediately show the mirror but does a little close up on a vial first. These two hints are significant imo.

Liked the episode. The stuff at the Wall was great and apart from the Dorne bullshit (they should avoid any scenes involving the sand snakes fighting, it's cringeworthy), it was very good opening episode and sets things up nicely.

I guess the Lannisters are at war with Dorne and the Boltons now, but they can't even get their shit together at King's Landing. I'm actually surprised that the Boltons haven't marched to King's Landing yet given its incredible instability and turmoil. Maybe Bolton doesn't know about the High Sparrow stuff.

She also asked Stannis' wife to get her a vial of something off the shelf in that bath scene.

On that note, has she ever resurrected anyone? It seems obvious that her being at Castle Black was a convenient way for Jon to get resurrected. Like...too obvious...

I hope the nights watch get rekt by the white walkers, Oli especially.

I would rather see Ghost get a hold of that little cnut.

It was a pretty bog standard season opener for GoT. Everybody gets a little screen time and its sort of lays the foundations for series to come.

Looking forward to see Bran return. He was pretty naff most of the time but the way we left him at the end of season 4 got me interested in his character now.

Melisandres naked granny body :drool::drool:

I thought that Melisandre's transformation was just to remind us that she does possess magic, since it might have been a bit ambigious before.

Also, Tyrion's "we're not going to Westeros any time soon" . Well, at least they told us point blank now to spare the frustration.

Anyway, I thought it was a very promising episode. There is no other show that comes close to the scale & "epicness" of GoT.

The curveball could be... Jon Snow is actually dead!

We all expect Jon to get resurrected so it would be a bigger surprise if they just left him dead

My friend reckons that King White Walker guy who had a stare down with him at the end of the big battle last season will resurrect him.

Did Drogon just fly away? I'm sure he was badly wounded last season, surely he'd still be somewhere close to where Ser Friendzone & the other guy were searching.

Also I'm hoping Franken-Mountain will be seen fighting soon.

No she hasnt, she was surprised the Priest did it once let alone a dozen times. Now the question i find myself asking is whether that Priest was also like Melisandre. Or is she a one off?

I seem to recall the Priests original plan was to try and convert King Rob to the Lord of the Light but he gave up and abandoned his "mission".

No, but in season three Beric Dondarrion was killed by Clegane in a trial by combat and then he was resurrected by another guy. They were the Brotherhood without banners, former Stark men, and we learn that were converted to the religion of the Lord of Light. After that, we also learn that it wasn't the first time this has happened. We can only presume that the Red Woman can bring the dead back to life. The "but i saw him fighting in Winterfell in the flames" line is quite intriguing although she looks like she's starting to lose her faith.

Okey, a theory about Snow and Melisandre.

She looked devastated when finding out bastard boy was as cold as his name. She looked properly sad when looking in the mirror thingy. And, she looked sad when she turned into her own great grandmother. I think this is a clue that she's lived a long life, trying to find the holy man to save them all, and now it's time to make the ultimate sacrifice for her as well. I mean, if she's going to spend another 600 or whatever years looking for another saviour, imaging the sadness in her eyes when looking in the same mirror!
She's going to kill herself to bring curlylocks back to life. Hopefully she does it while being perky-tits, though.

Still can't stand Sansa that stupid fecking bitch. Her life is in danger and she's reluctant to step in water because it's too cold. What a dumb cnut.

Enjoyed the first ep, the wall stuff is really important this season in terms of keeping me interested. Hopefully John Snow gets resurrected pretty soonish and fat Sam remains forgotten about. The Daenery's storyline is what it is - i.e. not very good, devastated when I heard it was against the leader's Dothraki law to shag her, such a pity. That was also one of the only times I was relieved to see Brienne, honestly couldn't stand another season of Ramsey/Reek.
