Television Game of Thrones (TV) • The watch has ended

Looked like Alan Alda at the end. WTF

Great first episode. But yeah, them Dorne bitches can feck off with their cartoonish acting & storyline.

The feck, how they do Doran & Areo like that. I mean, I don't care that they're gone, it's just I hate the snaksnakes. Too bad they weren't recast if not cut altogether.

Melisandre's reveal at the end was rotten. Kudos to the make up team. Even the way she waddled to bed gave me the hebbie jebbies.

Looks like they are intent on milking Jon Snow's death for atleast 2 more episodes before somehow resurrecting him.

Regarding Melisandre...I think there's more to it than just the necklace.

They did a close up of her potion bottles, and I'm pretty sure during that bath scene she poured something into the water too. Plus she got super defensive when someone tried going through her potions before.

It's probably more likely that she uses the potions on herself each night/day/whenever the feck she needs to, and the necklace might enhance or work off that potion.

It's be silly if they showed it in the first episode considering they just found his body.

Anyway, I watched it again and my only gripe is with Trystane's location/death. It seems he is on a boat in King's Landing, the one that Jaime and Myrcella are on and he's painting the eye things for her funeral.

But if the sand sneks were on the pier as they (Jaime, Trystane, Mycrella, Bronn) where sailing back to KL in season five, how did they get on the boat?

Serious oversight there.

Biggest disappointment was Areo Hotah dying. About 30 seconds before he got stabbed i said to the wife that i can't wait for him to feck someone up the bam dead lol. Also how dumb is Tristan(spelling probably wrong) to turn his back on one of those bitches. I know he was most likely gonna be killed anyway but at least have the intelligence to keep the people trying to kill you in eye sight.

Yes, thank you. I was trying to figure out his location, and thought, ok its a boat most likely heading to KL. But how TF did those two Snakes teleport to his ship? It was just like... lets just put them on there and hope nobody questions its. Cos... reasons... Look its shocking yeah.

The dialogue of some of the scenes (well Dany and Dothraki) was laughable at times.

That was just incredibly stupid.

Somehow? Is been done with that prophet.
He's going to be the last dragon rider with Tyrion and Kahlesee
I thought Bran would be of one the dragon riders?

That's the approach this show has always chosen when it comes to revealing something new. The white walkers' story was the prime example for that.

Good Episode.

Little bit worried about the quality of the writing though, especially if this is a sign of the post GRRM world. The Dothraki comedy relief scenes, the Sandsnakes, and Jamie's 'feck everyone thats not us speech' were jarring because of how shit they were.

I didnt mind the Jamie speech. The other two though  Sandsnakes need to just be killed off and never seen again.
It was like they though "oh look Oberyn was charasmatic, maybe it was where hes from rather than the actor"... yep

Edit: Also I keep loading the other thread and thinking "feck, close it close it" despite the title being less like this one than it used to be...

After months of reading spoilers and watching G.O.T vids on youtube it's finally back. Loved the first episode. I don't think a 5th or 6th TV season premier has gathered as much hypse as G.o.t has and rightly so, it's ace.

I thought it was a shit enough episode. Fair enough they had to set up some things but did they need to do it in such a shit way? Everything about Dorne is terrible, Khaleesi scenes were shit, the Jaime and Cersei scene was shit, the scene with Tyrion and the begger was shit, the Red Old Woman scene was just plain weird. The fight scene with Breienne was decent but obvious and the scenes at the Night Watch were good tbf.

What's the beef with Dorne?

All characters are useless and / or stupid, the dialogue is worse, im not even sure what the motivation is anymore. You can essentially remove it and it wouldnt make much difference in most peoples viewings.

It wasnt a shit episode. First third was brilliant but did gradually get worse, great ending though imo. Love moments like that.

I really believe that there is a "special" group of screenwriters who were given Dorne to make them feel included. This whole Dornish line is so unbelievably bad, both from a screenwriting and acting perspective.

I think the problem I had with the middle parts was it seemed a bit crammed. Some characters (eg margaery) were basically just there for the sake of it, nothing progressed with her (it was basically what we knew before).
They could have taken out her scene and spent more time for the others.

Now that I think about it, that girl who had the whip, how was she going to feckin use a big whip like that in a tight area to fight? And who is daft enough to turn their back on one of the two people who have come to kill you (and stated they are killing you). And it all ends with "ugh, you stole my kill bitch"

Come on now

I do like Davos though. Him and the Wall stuff was great.

Seemed to be a case of including characters to go "remember this person".

Dorne is just shit though, cant stand that woman, the sandsnakes need an anvil dropping on them. Do we even know if whip and spear girl are new people? Who knows. Theyre all so forgettable. None of the characters are interesting in any way.

Why did they kill quiqui flores Sanchez!!!

yeah thats what the first episode or two of the new season is always like.

Just doing the rounds and checking in with people going 'hey, look, remember this person? no? ok well here's what they're up to'

I'm expecting at least 15 minutes of an episode to be doing that with Bran sometime soon, seeing as we haven't seen him in forever.

I thought it was an average episode, did a decent job of setting things up for the season without anything big actually happening, standard GoT premiere really.

The Dorne part was the worst, everything about Dorne last season felt off and nothing has changed here, which annoys me as I loved the Dorne parts in the books. The Sand Snakes are just cringe worthy, I was hoping Trystane would kill them (I know, it was never gonna happen ).

I'm as lost as ever with the Arya plot, looks like she's gonna spend a few more episodes being beaten with a stick.

I hope we don't have to endure much Mereen this season. It seemed as tedious as ever this episode, even with Tyrion.

Sansa and Theon being rescued by Brienne was cool, though the scenes from the wall were probably the highlight, builds up the tension there nicely and sets the stage for something big to happen (hopefully). The end scene with the red witch was intriguing, not sure where they're going with that but it will be interesting to find out.

Does anyone else sympathise with Allister Thorne over the whole Jon Snow thing? His explanation for doing what they did seemed fairly reasonable to me.
