Television Game of Thrones (TV) • The watch has ended

So the snow has melted but Theon and Sansa will no doubt have been saved because they landed in some thick snow, ok.

Ah well, the side they jumped off probably wasn't directly in the sun like the entire way to Castle Black was. Or something.

I would actually like that - as it wouldn't render her death completely pointless (which it currently is) - not holding my breath though!

Something like that has to happen as you have the Melisandre and Jon thing, the Melisandre and Arya thing and the one who controls animals, the Starks are turning into a right freaky bunch. Thinking about it the whole family of Stark kids could reunite next season! But just think how different they all are now!

That was a mess. A complete and utter mess. The episode was one death short of Peter Dinklage having his balls shredded by a rabid wolf.

It was pretty obvious from the start that the little kid was gonna do him in in some way.

Yes. That kid was so annoying. I wonder if that betrayal will harden Snow's heart on his journey to the dark side with Melisandre. The Starks always were naive idealists that followed their hearts instead of their heads. They have all been through the ringer so much that surely they are destined for a darker arc from now on, darker on their part I mean.

My only question is, was any of that Cersei's tits? The superimposed face on the naked body was so obvious you just had to laugh.

It was pretty obvious from the start that the little kid was gonna do him in in some way.

Yep and I think that obviousness has been a frequent theme this season and not a good one. In the past, most events genuinely had a surprise factor to them, none more so than the Red Wedding or Joffrey's poisoning and that made them great moments. Now one of the clearest ways that the show's writing had degraded is in how obvious everything is. Arya was clearly going to disguise herself as one of the girls and do in the paedo. Anyone could have seen the religious nuts turning on Cersei from a mile away. In the last episode I knew as soon as she did it that the kiss was going to poison Rapunzel whats-her-name. As you say, that little shit Olly turning on Jon in some way was the most obvious of them all.

Our heroes always fall at the last hurdle. All our favourites leave and we are left trying to salvage something from the remaining rubbish. We endlessly bang our heads against the wall trying to make sense of what nonsense just happened. We spend the summer in hope knowing that we're going through the emotional abuse again next year. We continue watching mostly because of the past glories we remember. Our season only really lasts for 10 weeks.

So this is what it feels like to be a Liverpool fan.

The other guy was, she seemed surprised that he was able to if that tells you anything.

Dennis Pennis clearly said "I just said some old words that had never been said before. They were the only words I knew".

Melisandre would clearly have taken those words off him before taking Gendry. You don't leave shit like that behind (the words, not Gendry).

They really do milk the shit out of the two blokes/people are going on a journey storyline...

In fairness GOT has had some great duos - Arya and Tywjn, Arya and the Hound, Tyrion and Bronn...but yeah, Jaime and Bronn and Tyrion and Jorah just didn't really cut it this time round.

Yup, agree 100%

It was pretty obvious from the start that the little kid was gonna do him in in some way.

Aye, they weren't particularly subtle with all the sullen and angry looks from him every time Jon did anything remotely positive with a wildling.

Also, a couple of interesting Jon Snow related quotes/comments;

Sam: "I dont worry about Jon Snow, he always comes back."

OK that one has been discussed, but I have yet to see any reference to old Maester Eamon's last words to Jon along the lines of;
"Kill the boy, and let the man be born."

Then we have Melisandre's latest trick of 'melting the snow' - did she inadvertently trigger Jon Snow's death?

I get the impression that Melisandre was looking for a chosen champion of some sort and thought she had this in Stannis. It turns out not. So will "the man" Jon Snow now be reborn by Melisandre/Lord of Light?

A fairly major character was resurrected. Thats all I will say, if you want any other information then PM me. I have not read the books myself, just information that I got from my missus who has.

There is precedent for this in the books, but not in the TV show. Hints have been made that the TV show may not follow the same plot as the books in this respect, although there is no way of knowing what will happen in either yet, as the TV show is caught up with the books on Jon Snow's plotline now.

Something to amuse y'all now we have to wait 10 months till the next GoT episode.

Which Game of Thrones character are you?

I got Tyrion Lannister.

Got Arya Stark, pretty pleased with that.

Massive, massive drop off in quality this season. Barely better than fluff such as the walking dead.

This might be a bit of a stretch but is it just me who thinks Jaqn may actually be death personified?

I thought it was an awesome finale. The Cercei scenes in particular where just brutal.

Yup compared to seasons 1-4, season 5 is really disappointing.

Only good thing is the potential for season 6 is now massive, hope they don't screw it up.

Melissandre clearly hasn't gone back to Castle Black for no reason.

There's a lot of stuff like that in this episode. Like I'd like to know where that massive Bolton army came from?

Watched it again with the Mrs and I didn't pick up the first time that Brienne didn't actually see the candle being lit, but still roaming off to magically bump into Stannis (who ended up in a forest somehow) and killing him was just shit. Though, like the Hound, we don't see him die. Hopefully she's as shit at killing as she is saving lives.

They were the sellswords from Stannis' army, surely? The soldier said they took all the horses.

Those twenty men came in and twisted their ear.
