Television Game of Thrones (TV) • The watch has ended

I'm confused, isn't this guy supposed to be their king or whatever? He seemed the main guy when they showed what the walkers do with the babies last season. There were many silhouettes, but he was the one that turned the baby into a white walker. I've been wondering ever since if this guy is their king, does that make the other walkers in the scene his council? Or maybe they're equal?

One thing's for sure though, they've hardly shown the walkers since the beginning of the series. Hopefully this changes before the season ends.

Also while we're talking about the White Walkers. I thought the whole point of them was that the White Walkers were created from babies and grown whereas the men were just turned into zombie types?

I've been disappointed with season 5 so far but I thought the last episode was much better. Seemed to have more urgency to it, a lot of this season has felt really slow.

OK, I've patiently waited, haven't watched any of the leaked episodes or the new releases -- what I want to know, without anyone spoiling it for me, is if the new season is really as poor as everyone is saying it is?

Not at all. I've enjoyed it.

Most of the criticism has come from TV hipsters who love dumping on anything popular. You can usually tell who they are because they include a bit of pseudo-intellectual analysis to make themselves seem cleverer than they actually are.

if you can watch it in one go, its gonna be much better.

Yeah, I'm tempted to watch the first episode but it will probably end on a cliff hanger which will lead to me watching the second and so on.

OK, that's good to hear. TV hipsters are always a downer, something is shite if it means that they're more refined for having spotted its defects. I don't mind if they're the main detractors. I'll find out soon enough, but it would be a shame for this show to have a bad season.

If you loved the previous seasons you'll like this as well. If you were getting a bit bored with the slow pace and countless of minutes spent on watching people travel each episode it's pretty much just more of the same. Either way, it's still a decent show. I think most of the negative comments in this thread are just more of a response to how overrated they (/we) think the show is.

 @ TV hipsters. Not nearly as annoying as the fanbois who can't bear to see their favourite show come in for a bit of criticism.

I really enjoy it in general but it's been a poor season by anyone's standards.

Its been pretty shit if you've been watching it on a weekly basis, too many filler episodes and some story archs have been stretched too much. If you're pretty much watching it back to back then it'll be alright. It looks to be picking up now.

I've liked it so far. You just now there is going to be an absolute gorefest in the next few episodes.

Fanboys are always the worst!

Anyway back on topic, I'm hoping Zombie Mountain makes an appearance and crushes some more skulls.

I think they're going too far in the direction of building up stories for 7 episodes and causing carnage in the last 3. It's resulting in a lot of filler.

No doubt they will smash it with the last 3 episodes which will get the viewers giddy and excited for next season where they'll do pretty much the same thing.

Definitely doesn't help that lots of scene-stealing characters have been killed off, and the ones that are left seem to be transitioning through storylines the Liverpool way.

Surely Zombie mountain
will be called up by Cersei for a trial by combat. You can't beat a good trial by combat imo. Who would represent the religious zealots though?

As a fan on the show, I can say quite easily that this is probably the worst season of the show so far.

People say it's because Tywin is dead etc, but I think it's just boring/poor writing (not the author, but the screenplay guys).

Well, some book readers I've spoken to have said the most recent book(s) aren't exactly riveting in comparison to the earlier ones.

I haven't read the books, so I can't comment on that, but even so - I heard the further into the show you go the more they diverge from the books anyway?

But, we're not allowed to really talk about the books here, so as Forrest Gump would say, "That's all I have to say about that."

This is true.

I think this season has been the weakest so far. Some really poor writing, especially in the episode before last (the one with the crap sand snake fight scene).

I'm neither a tv hipster nor a fanboy and while I still do enjoy Game of Thrones, I just haven't enjoyed it as much as past seasons. It's all subjective but I do think the quality has dipped a bit. Probably due to so many great characters getting killed off. Was always going to be a tough ask to top last season. That being said, season ain't over yet and it's still the show that I look forward to watching the most every week (now that Mad Men is over).

This is why Walking Dead has become shit. Too much filler, then towards the end of the season, something crazy happens -- fans get excited.

Which is why I stopped watching after season 2.

tbf, last season of GoT wasn't like that at all. Joffers died early in the season who was the chief villain at that point. I think it's an unfair criticism really.

The criticism is labeled at Walking Dead not GOT, as I think GOT is still great. There is no comparison between the two.

I'm just hoping this show doesn't become like the Walking Dead in which all the action is saved for later season.

I've just watched seven episodes back to back. I loved it, one of the better seasons in my opinion.

WTF!!! That was the episode I've been waiting for all season. Shit is about to get real. Absolutley fecking bonkers, lol.
Shouldn't they be rowing a little faster?

That was more like it. Not because some stuff actually happened but because the stuff that happened was actually done well.

Jon Snow THA BEAST

How did they feck up the army of the dead the last time they were around (thousands of years ago). Seems impossible as their numbers keep going up.
