Television Game of Thrones (TV) • The watch has ended

That was my speculation and I promise you, I am not a book reader and wasn't spoiled. I mean feck, it was revealed they were going up north to the wall last episode of S3. Surprised they turned up that quickly though, I was expecting it Helms Deep style.

I was wrong, yep, forgot about the Mellisandre's vision in the fire, sorry - it was a good guess, kudos.

Still, one moment he is in Braavos, asking for money and the next moment he is riding on the North, what the heck? Of course they wanted to keep the element of surprise, but how did he managed to teleport his army half across the world?

Well I suppose they are in boats and they can sail pretty quickly. But it did seem like not much time to send an entire new army up north and then ride across the land to Castle Black.

That was some really accurate firebolt spells by one of the "magic children".

Supernatural ancient children killing reanimated skeletons with "firebolts" and it is the accuracy that is the unbelievable thing?

Ok

What's the story with the 3 dragons then? Didn't her family take kings landing while riding dragons? yet she can't control hers now so what chance has she when they become as big as the skull and bones under kings landing?

Think the dragons would do anything for her for another nude scene.

Maybe they are in their stroppy teenage years.

Well it's the Black Dragon thats causing all the problems. That's the one that keeps getting referenced and it was also shown missing in that scene. It's like the Alpha Dragon I think, the other two don't seem to be the problem.

So I've been thinking about Shae and Tywin and it just dawned on me what actually must have happened.

I just thought it was face value that she's just being a whore and sleeping with Tywin but does anyone else think that the scenario that might have actually played out is...

1. When she realised Tyrion was no longer her man thanks to Sansa, she made a move for a more powerful man in Tywin to get back at Tyrion.
2. It had been happening before she testified against him in court and this was Tywin's wish and as he knew about her and him, that was his reason for sleeping with her.
3. Tyrion realised she was plotting against him with Tywin and that was obviously a big reason for him to kill her.

Or was it just quite simply that he happened to catch her being a whore in Tywin's bed?

Something like that. At first I though it was going to be that Tywin got Shae to sleep with Tyrion in the first place as part of some scheme to oust or kill Tyrion but I can't remember what the circumstances of their original meeting was or if Tywin was around at the time. So I'm not sure.

What motivated Shae near the end?

If Cersei wants something, she gets it. Shae is low-born. This is after Tyrion said, "Go away. You're a whore." She was thinking, "I'm again where I was before I met Tyrion. Once again I'm a prostitute. Again, I'm by myself, on my own. I have to take care of myself. I have to survive."

Also, Tywin only found out about her when Cersei told him, so I doubt it was some kind of scheme.

We seem to be heading to 3 main story arcs.

1) Dragons, Dragon lady, Arya, Tyrion, Sir Friendzone over the water.
2) Kings landing: Cercai, her son, paedo wannabe Queen and her family, Jaime
3) The North, old blokes under trees, Bran, John Snow, Sam and Gilly, Wildings, White Walkers, bloke who wants to be king. After all Winter is coming.

Ok

To be fair I think he was further referencing Skyrim with the 'firebolt spell' thing, having talked about Draugr before.

Amazed at how deeply people are thinking about Shae and Tyrion. For me it's pretty simple - Shae really did love Tyrion and to her, with different values than your average Westerosi, sending her away was the ultimate act of betrayal rather than a good deed, and the fact he tried to pay her a huge hunk of money to go was just the icing on the cake. So the perfect chance for revenge was to become Tywin's whore.

He was joking about a film unconnected to GOT? What has that got to do with being annoyed about the accuracy of the "thunderbolts" thrown by the supernatural kid?

Am I the only one surprised Tywin never once considered the Jamie and Cersei rumours were true?

Nah, I think it fits his character pretty nicely - so obsessed with station and legacy and securing power, and the IDEA of family that he is almost oblivious to the practicalities and realities of the actual people who make up his family.

Brilliant episode.

He fecking kills everyone!

I thought he acknowledged the truth to them when speaking to Cersei once, so I'm a little confused. Didn't he say something like "and you will bare children which dont have blonde hair" or "legitimate" or something. I dunno.

I don't think so, you might be thinking of when he was talking about wanting her to marry again and bare children to 'put to bed the disgusting rumors'.

Can't believe Tywin gets killed. It was great Tyrion got to kill him but it's a shame he dies. Wonder where this leaves the Lannisters and Tyrion in particular.

Thought Arya's scene with the Hound was really good. Can't wait to see what happens with her, hopefully she now meets up with the assassin friend of hers and starts killing people.

I expected Stannis to go and help the Night's Watch but it was too easy for him to take Mance. Will be interesting what Jon does now and how far North Stannis will go.

I have no idea what those skeleton things were and what this new wizard dude is going to do with Bran. His story should hopefully get interesting next season. Same with Daneyres, she was better this season but still boring. Now losing control over 1 dragon and imprisoning the other 2, I hope she doesn't stagnate for another season.

I do remember that. I thought he referenced it somewhere. Somewhere...

I didn't interpret it as him being annoyed by it, rather an excuse to further reference Skyrim (game, not film) with the firebolt spell (which is a spell in Skyrim) to go along with the Draugr (enemy in Skyrim) comments.

Could be wrong mind.

I guess with Tywin dead, Cersei will not be marrying Loras. Reckon this will cause the Lannister & Tyrell alliance to break, possibly go to war? Further, since Cersei hates Margaery I guess she wont let her marry Tommen.

Also with Tywin dead, will the Lannisters be able to keep up their facade they still have money. Could cause problems with the bank people.

They showed him getting in through some sort of a manhole, didn't they? So I'm assuming he got right into Tywin's bedroom/whatever.

But odd that someone's bedroom would have a manhole like thing - and whats even more odd that Tyrion knew about it and that there was a connection from the exit (or wherever Jaime left him) directly to Tywin's room. I mean it all seemed so very conveniently done!

Remember back to the build-up to the battle of the blackwater, tyrion took a serious interest to the underground tunnels throughout the city - he used them in the battle itself to get outside the walls.
That, and as people have mentioned, he lived in that same room for a while as hand of the king, so he knew the trapdoor was there.

I accidentally went in to the book thread. Happily I didn't read anything that meant anything to me so I don't think I've spoiled anything for myself. Luckily.

The angrier the book fans are, the more I like the series.

I don't even want to comment on that in case sadly in case it gives people clues they don't want. I want to comment on what I saw but even though there was no plot I am still going to say nowt.

Felt like a bit of a dud, that one. Good to see Arya on her way to something.

Dud? Seriously?

Apart from a couple of times when I forgot what something meant or had been mentioned before (what Arya's coin meant and where she got it from and we wondered about the army appearing) it was a great episode. 12 episodes x 1.5 hours would be even better but there you go.
