Television Game of Thrones (TV) • The watch has ended

Yes thank god the gate did not stay up, for a second I thought there was some kind of lock that conveniently propped up the door after the giant lifted it to a certain point. I was also hoping they'd attack his legs while he was still lifting the door instead of pissing themselves about it.

That is book talk. I should thread ban you. Please stop it.

Too late, I thread banned him forever. Way too many warnings for this type of bullshit. If you feck up with spoilers or gay hints then you can be perm thread banned (still can view the thread mind). We don't need input from people who have read the books and then make a post in here for no reason other than to talk about something we can't possibly know. I hate shit like this so much...why can't they take their book learning and feck off to book land.

Is this serious?

It was such a dull and boring episode. To think this was episode 9. Pointless.

They didn't even defend the wall from danger as there are many others left. The best part was the brothers of the nights watch who defended the gate.
Ummmm....so because they did not kill the entire wildling army, there was no danger to the wall?

I notice you also said the battle was confusing, well yeah, battles often are. That part was at least realistic enough. Do some reading of history, these types of melee battles were often confusing as hell as the combatants got mixed together.

They had torches and arrows with them and the giant was taking ages to reach them, why not set him on fire instead of reciting their gay poem? Jon and Sam finding them was way sadder than Ygritte dying though. Also laughed at Sam telling the man with an arrow sticking out of his neck that everything was gonna be okay.

Spartacus definitely isn't the show for him.

I know, but that was their A game plan with the Mammoth.

And that's exactly what the frontline of their army did do, stand around getting shot by flaming arrows

The giants, mammoth and some army went forward to pull the gates off. The Wallers dropped oil barrels down along with flaming arrows, eventually able to scare the Mammoth and infantry off, even the giants retreat. Someone then brings down one of the giants with an arrow as they were moving back, this causes the other giant to go into a mental frenzy where he alone runs back and attacks the gate, not even to pull it off for the others, just to get inside and revenge his giant bro. At that point no-one is with him because it's just a single giant attacking and he doesn't give a feck about leaving the gate open or not so once he gets inside it slams shut and that's it.

Ah ok.. that makes sense!

I hope GRRM doesn't just bring that wolf back at some critical point in the plot to save Arya or someone! That'd be bad.

Also, the scythe thingy - did they say that they'd roll it back in after using it once? In that case, how do they camouflage it for later use? Or is it a use once and done thingy?

I think the initial camo was just the ice built up over time. Right now no point in worrying about any more camo, I think the wildlings know it is there, don't you?

I imagined this post, especially the last line as almost a GoT-esq speech prior to battle. Well in Hectic.

What was funnier was the giant was very clearly going to smash through that iron gate separating them (as they are reciting the shit poem). Now, knowing this, would you really want to stand about 3ft away from the huge gate, which is so obviously going to crush you like a rat, like they were doing? It doesn't show how they die, I guess they want you to think there was some awesome battle where everyone was fighting to the end, just about taking the giant with them. What really happened was the giant ran through that gate, which then fell down backwards and crushed them all within 5 fecking seconds.

Yeah I suppose the fire barrel put any chancers off.

I know it's only a silly plothole but things like that annoy me.

@JustAFan I am glad to see that the door was shown to be shut though, I must have missed that.

The episode was meh for me too, i'll watch it again before Sunday but other than Ygritte dying I was a little bored. A few showings of ciurage that impressed me.

You have a point there. I was mostly assuming that all the wildlings that were a part of the attack on the wall were killed (with one captured) which meant that the other wildlings would have had no clue about it's existence.

Yeah cause you know none of them were probably watching the battle from their camp.......or the tree line.....so yeah they all probably missed this giant chain and anchor thing swinging down , all the noise it made, etc.

The giant probably just died from laughter at how shit their plan was.

I wouldn't try, I have a little gate boy outside my house with a toy bow and arrow who kills gingers and their lovers/admirers. He can smell your likes from a mile off

That reminds me, I thought the bow was a lot smaller than that? When Sam told him to get a weapon, the one he looked down at was half the size of the one above. did it just grow?

The camera shot of a bow was at specific angle and it was partially lying on a rock or something. It looked a bit like a toy though.

Has Sheamus or whatever he's called been back to hurl further abuse at Sunday's episode yet?

Slevs, you need to let that girl go, she was only like at least 5th hottest girl in the show so far. Another love will be along soon enough pal, don't worry.

I was glad the little boy got revenge on Ygritte for killing his father.

Yep, poor fecker had to watch his parents get brutally murdered and probably eaten by those cannibal feckers. I'm glad he put an arrow through the inbred cnut.

Don't even know how to even respond to that. So supposing I don't know about historical battles, this show isn't for me? In other words, I'm pretty sure it wasn't intended to be that confusing.

The result was confusing as well. Unlike blackwater bay (which had those bombs by tyrion and the back up army that changed the battle) there was no clear indication of how the nights watch won the battle.

In ninety percent of the scenes each member of the wildlings are killing 3-4 of the men of the night watch and to make it worse they also out-number them. How was it that suddenly the wildling army was defeated?

I genuinely want to know that because it is possible that I've missed something. If I have not, that was just terrible portrayal.

You're really thinking about me aren't you.

As per your own post, I stopped posting about the episode as there was no point but have only responded to a few here. Also, it's not just me. If you haven't noticed plenty of others in this thread share my opinion that they are milking the cow and this series has been full of fillers. No need to be so angry about a fantasy t.v show.

Loads of extras and ketchup?

But yeah, it was directed pretty badly. When the giant was charging down the door I had a massive smile on face expecting shit to go down, then next thing I know it cuts back to the tower and.. The giant went home?

Aww I was missing you sweety

The giant was lay dead next to the men of the nights watch at the end - they killed him and in doing so died themselves, giving their lives to protect the wall and in turn fulfilling their vows which they were reciting while the giant charged them. Like I said last night you weren't paying attention. ;)

? I never even talked about the giant
