Television Game of Thrones (TV) • The watch has ended

I've been watching the first three seasons again, and the last season was way more boring than this one.

It's the "oh no we didn't see Tyrion!" crowd that amuses me most. I almost hope he dies now
I know, it's almost like they're shocked that there is life outside of Kings Landing

If we are going to criticise, the worst thing about the episode was the sickening crunch when Jon got his face smashed into the anvil.

Then the minor nose bleed he got from such a crushing blow. What a hero.
I thought he was done for when that happened, I thought we were going to feel the pain of a heroic character dying once again.

Plus, if I were a wildling and saw the explosion at the gate, a giant get killed and a mammoth charging back towards me I'd run the other way.

That's why you're not a wildling.

It did shut behind him.
Ah OK, either way it seemed like that was their main plan of action anyway was to pull the gate off and storm in, it was a little surprising to see the rest of the army nowhere near ready to charge in

They didn't pull the gate off, and the rest of the army aren't likely to stand about getting shot by arrows on the off-chance that the gate gets ripped off. Especially when the mammoth did a runner.

I agree and it ends better as well but I wont say how.

This season has been very ordinary television. What's the point of it all? There's no longer an overarching storyline. Initially it was starks vs lannisters with some interesting sideplots. Now there's nothing, just people traipsing around from point A to point B, cheesy dialogue, gory fight scenes and girls getting their tits out.

And why exactly is this an issue?

I ain't got a scoobies what will happen with Jon, but surely an alliance is out of the question. Unless of course Jon can see the bigger picture and knows that the White Walkers are a common enemy. But from his wording, he seemed like he wanted to go up there and engage a 1 on 1 combat with the fella.

Spartacus definitely isn't the show for him.

I know, but that was their A game plan with the Mammoth.

And that's exactly what the frontline of their army did do, stand around getting shot by flaming arrows

True, but they were standing quite far back. It would have been worse if they were all milling around by the gate.

Now that the Nights Watch know of the Wildlings attack, why don't they just seal the gate like Jon had suggested?

Yeah, I don't think the show has a pacing problem, just a content problem.

ffs

RN7 is like that one friend you have who tells you how great a show is and what you're missing before it becomes popular, only for everyone else to end up watching it and loving it, and then as a result, decides he hates it.

 Pretty much.

The only thing about the episode that annoyed me, why when the giant managed to lift the front gate did a thousand men not storm in with him? that was the wall breached and 1 man went through  It wasn't like the door shut behind him either, the gate stayed raised!

You might want to watch the episode again, there are some pretty HUGE clues that the gate closed behind him.

Look behind him!
