Television Game of Thrones (TV) • The watch has ended

Remember this fella?

Great Caesar's Ghost!

They should just have 1 episode per series and complete each plot line or story arc as quickly as possible. Don't include any characters which aren't immediately likeable or constantly surrounded by action. No walking, travelling or any kind of small-talk are allowed.

The battle was confusing to follow itself. In most of the scenes brothers of the nights watch were dying but in the end, they are victorious?

How was it in any way confusing? I thought the fight was very well articulated.

The video should be fast forwarded slightly as well to make sure we don't waste any time. Pacing is for pussies.

Christ some of you need to just sit back and enjoy it.

"But.. but there was a 2 minute scene that didn't advance the plot whatsoever"

Who gives a feck. Not every scene has to advance the plot. You don't know what's coming. You don't know what scene is relevant. People hate on characters way too easily in shows and I see nothing wrong with Sam & Gilly scenes. They're not the best of course but I think some of you are spoiled with the quality of tv shows nowadays. You expect perfection every week and pick out gripes instead of just enjoying it.

Most of you are fine but a couple of you are right miserable bastards.

Agreed. Personally I think @Eboue is right on the money.

The show has been hinting for absolutely ages that the real danger is at The Wall and that the squabbling in the rest of Westeros and subsequent lack of attention on the The Wall could doom everyone. If you weren't expecting a showdown at The Wall, you haven't been paying close enough attention. And it ain't over by a long way yet, whatever about Mance, the White Walkers are still out there.

Mance and the White Walkers could be dealt with in 10 minutes. They shoud spend 3 of those minutes killing Sam and all of the other "dull characters". We can then watch Tyrion screwing prostitutes on the back of a dragon for 9 weeks. In Kings Landing. Winter isn't coming and can feck right off.

Or just read the Wikipedia for all major events in the books, less disappointment as if something is out of the blue it's just done for 'shock value' and if something is realistic it's 'too predictable'.

I can't believe this is gonna take like 8 series, can they not get rid of all these filler episodes and just have non -stop fighting interspersed with people revealing shocking discoveries or even better combine the two.

"*swings sword* Arya was a boy all along!!!"
"*Back flips to safety* By the name of the seven gods take that back!"

Good episode. I'm glad that they didn't do a half King's Landing and half The North episode, and hopefully next weeks is now about Tyrion. Although I could see next week's episode being about the North again so that Tyrion's fate is still a cliffhanger come the start of the next series.

Some great effects, especially the scythe swinging towards the climbers, and the giant's arrow impaling that poor bloke and launching him into the night.

The "You know nothing, Jon Snow" line was inevitable but they had to put it in there really. I'd have liked to see Jon kill Yrgitte in the end, it's pretty shitty for her that she gets bumped off by some little scrote who controls the lift.

Very odd. It is almost as if the anticipation of the next episode it turning people weird angry. It is TV FFS. It also seems odd that a fantasy program that has dragons, giants, White Walkers, women who drop smoke babies and the like in a pseudo medieval era, which require a massive suspicion of disbelief, gets criticism when a dying character says a line she used all the time to the bloke she is staring at. Of course in reality she would have died instantly and never even have caught a glance of John Snow but reality makes shit TV.

Just a heads up to you all, the ad for next week is out there. It doesn't give away loads but you do get a look into what we are likely to see.
Episode is titled "The Children" if anyone wants to Google it.

Edit: Sorry, didn't realise episode title would have to be spoiled, will do from now on prior to airing.

If you know this from the books please do not answer. Only help if I've missed hints or facts from the TV series please.

Mance Ryder was previously something to do with the Night's Watch wasn't he? Does this influence how things develop?

Also, do we know the relationship between White Walkers and Wildings? I'm assumed they were acting in concert but now that I think about it I don't remember them acting together and then there is the babies being sacrificed thing.

I suspect that there is more to all this than we yet know. Not sure what mind.

What do the Wildings want? What do the White Walkers want?

Dragons, tits, battles, politics, larger than life characters, unpredictable plots and deaths, great casting. My main criticism is that each season is only 10 episodes long. There is enough material (I'd guess not having read the books) for a great deal more without the plot lagging. I guess budget is the issue.

I can't get enough of the show to be honest, it's just brilliant television and they know what they're going. The main thing I don't like is having to wait a week for another episode of it. The characters are cast perfectly and there is so much going on that they have to drag it out a bit, the series finale should be brilliant. Sure will suck having to wait ages for the next season though!

I can see why people might have enjoyed the Red Wedding episode more but

You never know what episode names can give away. Of course naming the last episode "Tyrion gets eaten by a dragon" was a bad idea ;)

It was unclear if the Captain of The Watch lived but he was injured but alive the last we saw of him.

Well, I dare somebody to call that one boring.

Absolutely brilliant episode full of action-packed, violent goodness. Ridiculously good TV.

It was great. You could say it set the stage for Game of Thrones.

And now we've got Caesar as a wildling, Brutus as a Tully and Niobe as a Dornish bastard. No doubt more to come, as well.
Niobe/Dornish bird has terrible luck with relationships. Was it ever explained what happened to Tully?

Quite right. Everyone's storyline needs resolving within the first 5 minutes of the finale, followed by 35 minutes of The Rains Of Castamere.

I think some people would appreciate it more on a second watch once the season ends, so you don't have to wonder at the same time if they are going to cut to tyrion at any point.

It resolved the fact that we'll never hear
You know nothing John Snow
Ever again. Ever.

Sam likes big feet. What more could anyone want ffs?

No...but they even mentioned it in the show. "they are just going to come back tomorrow, we haven't won". Like I said, I enjoyed the episode. But I can see how some would find flaws in it.
I assume that
that was the main battle between the wildlings and the Night's Watch, and that the showdown between Jon Snow and Mance will decide it, before focus at the wall shifts to the White Walkers.
