Gabriel Jesus | Signs for City

Exciting young player, hopefully we beat City to him, Jose needs to get on the horn and make a 20 minute phone call to him.

Would be amazing if true, he's got great potential and can learn from some great players.

After Pogba and the rest beating city to a top young talent would really be the icing on the cake.

This lad has been linked to loads of clubs over the last few weeks. Just like Embolo our name is probably being used again.

Google translating the article:

Information is the Spanish newspaper Sport and was confirmed by the state report.
Manchester United, although off the attacker of the fine, intends to submit a further proposal in the coming days - something around 35 million euros, adding bonuses for productivity, among other additives in the contract - and another European club also promises to make a superior proposal to the City. However, the report heard of people who follow the negotiation with the team of Pep Guardiola, that Gabriel Jesus was very excited about the possibility of acting in the English club and be commanded by the Spanish coach.

As you said, he's already been linked more heavily with Barca and Madrid, why would they need to lump Utd in there too?

Apparently this was Ed's counter pitch to Guardiola's 15 minute phone call.

Pretty convincing argument.

Jose likes Brazilian players.

I suspect we wanted to go for him next summer but our hand has been forced.

Sounds like bollocks but hope we get him or at the very least he doesn't join City.

I don't see us signing him to be honest, at least not this Summer. Reckon our name is being used to bump up City's offer.

I'm not inclined to believe any rumours of us being close to signing anyone besides Pogba as of now. Mourinho has said numerous times that he had 4 main areas to invest in. I could see us potentially going for others like Fabinho after some players leave but I'd imagine Mourinho is using the pre-season to analyse some of the other positions. Fabinho being close to signing is another one that seems a bit too early to be legit. If one of Valencia or Darmian were sold or if the pre-season had ended it would make more sense but I don't think Jose would have reemphasised the 4 priority areas again today if we were actively seeking to improve more areas of the team than that. A young signing like this might be a bit more likely since he would likely be loaned out again but considering the fee being discussed, I don't believe it. We were also linked to Hirving Lozano earlier in the window and that seemed pretty close. I have my doubts whether either will come but I'd be very surprised if we signed both this season since we have a lot of options in the cam and wide positions right now. I'm expecting Gabriel to move to City as of now. Not sure how well he'd adapt to the Premier League anyway tbh.

Not buying our interest here nor that of City's for that matter (City certainly aren't buying both him and Sane)

Not massively impressed by the youtube compilations. I reckon this is bollocks anyway.

I really want him. For 35m is a complete steal. Even if he isn't ready.

Does he have a 24m release clause to join us or are we paying 35m for him? Only one of those statements can be true.

Well tbf they kinda need more attacking players for their squad. Sane would be a starter. No chance Gabriel would be anything more than a squad player for this season. He could probably be brought on as a striker late in a game in Guardiola's system. I'm guessing Navas isn't going to be kept around for long, same with Yaya. Not sure how highly Pep rates Sterling either, then he'll have a decision to make with an ageing Silva, not this season, but certainly in the next few years. So he definitely needs to be looking to improve the youth in their squad (along with their defence, their defence is truly awful).

I suppose that this is some type of auction.

What is truly impressive about him, besides his marketing value, is his productivity. He's a striker, after all. Obviously, Jesus is pretty good technically, but don't expect something like Neymar.

So his release clause for us would be €24m while for most other teams it would be somewhere around €30m. Well, you could try to say his release clause is actually €32m to salvage the story on City's end but obviously the United side of the story would be completely impossible if that article by sportwitness is true.

Unrivaled really.Neymar was/is beasty.

Is there a player out there with a better Youtube compilation than Neymar pre Barca days. I knew from then that he was going to be an absolute megastar. Because not only was he flashy, but his goal output was crazy too.

Looks like a good player, could be gold for City in the future. I still think he needs to mature his game, otherwise he will do a Memphis.
