I think of these "Levers" as like the beer pumps in the pub, but instead of beer flowing out, it's Barcelona's credibility.
So they are removing players from the tour who they want to leave but Frenkie isnt one of them.
I was thinking more of Squid Game, where you pull a lever and a pot drops cash. Only a matter of time until they get killed thoughI think of these "Levers" as like the beer pumps in the pub, but instead of beer flowing out, it's Barcelona's credibility.
That makes sense, thank you.His wage is only increasing, Barcelona aren't creating new money but borrowing future earnings, De Jong would be new money and he isn't necessary.
Very good!I think of these "Levers" as like the beer pumps in the pub, but instead of beer flowing out, it's Barcelona's credibility.
My understanding from reading/listening to journalists who I believe are reliable, is that it’s the Barcelona board who want to sell De Jong, but Xavi wants to keep himThat makes sense, thank you.
I can see why they're pushing hard for him to go, especially seeing as though Xavi has players he'd rather have over him too
Is it a one and done over this period or is it a recurring injection over the 25 years? Seems like a long time to leverage TV rights with the inflation over the past few years. They are selling off TV rights (over 25 year period )for a short term cash injection.
They are desperate they had no choice. Is it a one and done over this period or is it a recurring injection over the 25 years? Seems like a long time to leverage TV rights with the inflation over the past few years.
Any inflation over an agreed amount goes to BarcaIs it a one and done over this period or is it a recurring injection over the 25 years? Seems like a long time to leverage TV rights with the inflation over the past few years.
Not too sure as i've also read reports that Xavi likes him as a player but does understand that he needs to be sold for financial reasons, and given the options he's got in the squad, he's happy for de Jong to goMy understanding from reading/listening to journalists who I believe are reliable, is that it’s the Barcelona board who want to sell De Jong, but Xavi wants to keep him
I’m sure the decision to take him on tour is Xavi’s and the board would have rather left him out
Interesting. I guess we ll see how it plays out over the next 30 days. They've made the statement based on signings thus far, up to Lewandowski.
For Silva & Kounde to arrive also I assume they would need to sell / raise further funds to register absolutely.
A bit odd now that ETH has such tunnel vision for this player, I'm not sure too many would be that bothered if we'd left this a while ago. People would have snapped your hand off for Neves and Eriksen in early June, which seems perfectly doable.
The fact we're hearing we could let this roll on until after the season has started is a bit worrying, as the longer we let it go the less chance we will be able to sign an alternative.
Interesting. I guess we ll see how it plays out over the next 30 days.
I think United have done all they can on this deal at the moment. It's just upto Barca to get their stuff in order. Maybe when this lever is activated, they'll pay his wages and he'll be gone, giving them the funds and FFP wiggle room to sign Silva at the very least, especially if a fee has been agreed alreadyYou have to wonder how much effect the Martinez deal has had on slowing this down a little.

I just think it’s interesting we agreed the price on Frenkie first and it seems Ajax have gotten more out of us. Could be possible that United wanted to know how much they would be committing to Frenkie before moving to finalise MartinezIt's the other way around?
We spent too much time on this deal and Martinez price went up a few mill.
Murtough & Arnold were in Spain prior to the Martinez agreement.
Keano would not want him.Yeah, sunglasses in a plane.
Move on to who? This is the player which ETH wants. There arent that many players who can do what FDJ does. We will give it that as much time as it is possible because alternatives may not suffice for ETH style of play. This is a waste of time, granted it’s interesting following the summer drama but there comes a point where you draw the line.
It’s already got to the stage where United are over paying…and the bloke still isn’t arsed about playing for United.
ETH…Move on please!
You don't know whats said in private though. It's been suggested that he's been advised to say he wants to stay to ensure that Barca give him what he's entitled too. This is a waste of time, granted it’s interesting following the summer drama but there comes a point where you draw the line.

I’m confused, now you’re saying there was reporting done by the press that supports your belief that the wages weren’t deferred but were forgiven in exchange for an increased wage in a new and improved contract….but are at the same time saying that the press that is currently reporting the issuing being non payment of deferred wages (which doesn’t support your opinion) is less credible? To me it seems as if you are just choosing to believe the reports that support your position while discrediting those that contradict you.The structure of the contract was reported at some point. Now lets say that we are talking about deferred compensations, then we are talking about earned wages that have not been paid yet, it's a fairly easy situation for De Jong and wouldn't require much negotiations in fact the quickest way to get that money or to be able to go to court would be by accepting to leave the club, as long as Barcelona are solvent which they currently are. To me everything points to unearned wages.
This could be the case. Dutch media also confirming VDS stepped in to speed up the Martinez deal. I think VDS told United's representatives to pay up or shut up and stop unsettling the player. Otherwise I can't explain how United have out of the blue raised their offer to this amount after weeks of lowballing.I just think it’s interesting we agreed the price on Frenkie first and it seems Ajax have gotten more out of us. Could be possible that United wanted to know how much they would be committing to Frenkie before moving to finalise Martinez
Rumour is that it is capped at current value and will not increase if the TV revenue go up. For example if revenue is 100m at the moment then they will pay 25m for next 25 years even if the TV revenue go up. But it hasn’t been confirmedIs it a one and done over this period or is it a recurring injection over the 25 years? The thing is, it was reported a while ago that Barca would accept a deal of €75+€12 straight away, and coincidently thats very close to what we've agreed now.I just think it’s interesting we agreed the price on Frenkie first and it seems Ajax have gotten more out of us. I’m more referring to the figures mentioned in the last few days by various sources. All of a sudden now it’s gone up an extra €10 million or so.They had stronger negotiation on the back of selling Haller & Gravenberch.
Money in the pocket so demand more for any other players also leaving.
I keep seeing this but why is it obvious? Isn’t the fact Barca need to sell and a promise to force him out if a fee is agreed as likely as De Jong wanting to come here? Why wouldn’t United agree to that and wait it out even if the player is currently unwilling to move? You don't know whats said in private though. It's been suggested that he's been advised to say he wants to stay to ensure that Barca give him what he's entitled too.
EtH has obviously recieved assurances that he wants to come when all the problems have been sorted and i don't imagine that personal terms will be difficult to sort at all
Yeah that’s a possibility too.The thing is, it was reported a while ago that Barca would accept a deal of €75+€12 straight away, and coincidently thats very close to what we've agreed now.
I think we've paid higher to accommodate the Lewandowski signing as Bayern wanted a fixed, up front payment for him (even though they won't see a penny of our cash until they sort the de Jong wage issues out)
It started at €40m. Should have finished the deal in early June.I’m more referring to the figures mentioned in the last few days by various sources. All of a sudden now it’s gone up an extra €10 million or so.
In what way would that weaken their stance? My reading of this is that the player has basically said he's not budging, as he doesnt want to leave and is owed potloads of money,. He's in the tour squad so they dont waste a good player and if he's in training and playing then that just supports his position at the club.they’re trying to sell him without paying what they owe, right?
presumably there is a point of contention there and if they left him out of the tour, they’d weaken their own stance in that “negotiation”
If it is the case, then it tells me that this is much more advanced than we think, and the going on tour thing is because he's still legally their contracted player.Yeah that’s a possibility too.
How do you figure? In what way would that weaken their stance? My reading of this is that the player has basically said he's not budging, as he doesnt want to leave and is owed potloads of money,. I never really doubted that he’d go on tour. I don’t really consider that a significant development because as you say he is still a Barca player and the deal is not close to being done. I don’t really think him being on tour with them is an obstacle in any way either though. I’m sure United expected him to go.If it is the case, then it tells me that this is much more advanced than we think, and the going on tour thing is because he's still legally their contracted player.
Still i don't think it is unfortunately. It would be nice to think so, and i do wonder how they've managed to find that much cash to pay Bayern as a fixed fee, especially after agreeing a fee with us with a higher fixed amount which would cover the Lewa fee.
It started at €40m. Should have finished the deal in early June.
Just put him on ignore. You actually think I care about that
A new low even for you
