The deal is done between both clubs and the add ons are settled according to Domenech.

So we are sticking to original offer of 65M plus 20M in addons or giving them flat 85M.
If it is the latter, we seem to have agreed to what Barca originally wanted. So that they can pay FDJ to just go

Barcelona don't deserve Frenkie, they treat him so unprofessional and they don't even want him to be there. Come to Manchester United. We all want you to be here and be part of the key figure of ten Hag's winning team.

Spanish for ‘exit ramp’. As reported by Onze TV.

Little update for the Spanish lurkers.

Maybe someone already said it but that's not spanish.

Maybe catalan? Catalan looks like a mix of Spanish, Portuguese and French.

In Spanish is rampa de salida

Imagine him joining and being out-competed by Fred.
I still remember Fred's first game. He looked great in the first half and then looked like he was on the verge of collapsing from exhaustion in the second. Soon after, he disappeared from the starting line-up and rode our bench for the rest of the season.

Regardless of how highly rated De Jong is, he's going to need a period to adapt to the league as well. He'll need someone like Fred or McTominay beside him to carry the burden and do a lot of the running. That's why ten Hag would have to be crazy to make Eriksen his partner in midfield.

So if this actually happens then you lot need to all thank me for my negative attitude towards it happening which was a reverse jinx and made it happen.

Very good to see this sorted out now, people been reacting way too much to the saga, and I get that, but still, too much negativity.

Rampa de Sortida

Well done Arnold and Murtough for going to Barcelona to sort it out and have a night out at Port Olimpico while they're at it.
Certainly better than Woodward going somewhere to get the deals done when it turned out he went god knows where to get a new tractor sponsorship or something.

This one is in the bag.

I find it weird that Xavi doesn't want such a supposedly excellent midfielder, given that Xavi himself should be the be best judge of talent in that area of the pitch.

Is that a red flag?

Did It get done?

I want to say something clever but I'm just happy I guess. :D

There are reports that the entire package between MUFC and Barca is agreed now it's the personal terms and barca-frenkie saga. But it looks like Arnold and murtough have got it over the line by travelling to Barca for direct talks.

The big question now is whether we've essentially agreed through guaranteed addons to pay out 1 year of Frenkies owed wages and he'll have to fight Barcelona in court for the rest

Man, I forgot about Rafael Hernandez. All of the old aggregators are coming out of the woodwork!
He's been very quiet lately, probably due to Barca's financial plight.
I’m sure he was actually a Messi first, Barcelona second kind of guy. I remember him having *lots* of breakdowns when Messi left/Barcelona were doing poorly in the CL in spite of Messi

Didn't Arnold, when he talked with our fans, say that Murtough was already in Barcelona? The only new development is that Arnold has also went there, and we don't really know if it is to close the deal.

Not in Barca just said he was working on it every day, all Day.

Looks good, glad there were still people remaining positive that this will get done, well done to those ones, we deserve it! Will be a top signing excellent player

Thanks for the clarification.
It should be smooth sailing from here then.

Richard Arnold drinking their tears like...

I thought this was funny from a user called Givenchy:

It's a blemish that's somewhat understandably overlooked because it's his former manager ETH who made him a star that has come in for him.

Xavi is still below the bellends of Barcelona that got them into wages issue and debts. Remember Fergie's "no value in the market"? sometimes managers' hands are forced or tied to a specific decision based on circumtances.

Just because a footballer is a great player doesn’t make them an equally great manager.

All reports indicate that Xavi would prefer to keep de Jong, but Barca aren't going to be able to cover €600k a week + Lewandowski + Raphinha + w/e. So they have to sell him. It's very much the case of poaching an excellent player because the club isn't financially capable of keeping him, not the case of a club getting rid because he isn't good enough. He just happens to be sellable to a club with the financial muscle to pay for it all.

Note however, that the Barca spin machine will make it out as if he isn't good enough for them when the transfer goes through - because that is what they do.

Not necessarily. Great players make shite coaches all the time.

In de Jong case, it really is right player wrong time kind of vibes. He can’t play the lone no.6 Busquets role, and they have Pedri and Gavi (who are two of the best U21 midfielders around) who they’d rather continue to grow and give the game time to rather than fix the team to get the best out of de Jong.

I think reports are Xavi would like to keep him, but he wouldn’t be massively fazed if he goes because it allows him to target the likes of Lewandowski, Raphinha et al. in addition to the above.

Not surprised to see a major advancement. Didn't think this would drag on all window as it's not in the interests of either club for that to happen

Maybe somewhere in between. At this stage with so many uncertainly on the deal, I wouldn’t mind it to be 75m + 10m.

I think it's very likely we've gotten tired of waiting for Barca to penny pinch their way through negotiations with de Jong, and have agreed to pay the €17M in addons over the next 2-3 years for them so we can get our player and de Jong can avoid starting the season fighting Barca for what he's owed. In the grand scheme of things €17M over the next few seasons is nothing to us - especially if he is the difference between top 4 and top 6.

Something had to happen really. Was pleased to see the United guys in Barcelona yesterday because it then seems obvious they’re settling the saga, either to finalise the signing or to realise it won’t get done and move on

Those early PR interviews are gonna be awkward when he's asked how does it feel to be here :nervous::lol:

He’ll focus on his position and ETH, two massive positives for him.
He’s already mentioned weeks back that he prefers playing where he does for the Netherlands, where he can affect the game more.
So yeah, he’ll focus on the two big positives I’m sure.

It will be an easy answer, Barca are his dream club and he will say ManUtd is the PL club he supported when he was kid, watching players like VdS, RVN, RVP.

If it's true that Barca have won the race for Raphinha, then I think the FdJ deal might actually go through some time this century... umm, I mean week.

I'd like to know how a club can withhold a player's wages: do the Glazers secretly own the club? Is Woodward running things? (joking) Pretty much feels like the Spanish version of our shambles. How the mighty have fallen in both cases... I worked for a company that decided to cut the wages of those who could work to match the cuts of those who had to be furloughed - that was crooked enough, if you ask me!

It's good to hear the two suits have reportedly flown to Spain to try to finalise the deal (although I half expect them to report back that the flights were cancelled - joking again). Would ask why this didn't occur to them couple of weeks ago...
