Is that right? Can you link something i can read, just woke up and saw 85 euros posted on Reddit.

Edit:

Hmm, I can't find it now - so probably heard it from someone and figured they read it somewhere. In other words it might be bullshit and I've been duped

Manchester United and Frenkie de Jong: Senior club figures in Barcelona to break impasse

De Jong is reluctant to leave Barca given what he feels he is owed.

United have consistently stressed they have alternatives should their attempts to sign the former Ajax man prove unsuccessful.

However, the fact chief executive Arnold and football director Murtough have chosen to fly in for face-to-face talks with Barca officials underlines the desire to sign De Jong.

Under normal circumstances, at least one of them would have been in Thailand, where United begin their pre-season preparations against Liverpool on Tuesday.

Well that's not at all what happened? They wanted £85M + addons, we are paying them £46M plus £14M in addons that will in essence be paid directly to de Jong.

Barca produce these talents every season - but only a handful actually become world beaters. There are plenty of Tello, Bojan, dos Santos, Romeu, Assusin, Munir, Montoya type players. No matter how people try to spin it, it's risky to bet on 19 year olds being able to continue their progression and go from wonderkid talent to world class star. Barcelona have had plenty of seemingly fantastic wonderkids, only for them to completely fall off the planet by not progressing as one would hope.
Is this true? Has there been some confirmation?

I find it weird that Xavi doesn't want such a supposedly excellent midfielder, given that Xavi himself should be the be best judge of talent in that area of the pitch.

Is that a red flag?
No. No red flags in here, only happiness and rainbows.

Xavi reportedly like deJong and wanted him to stay, but they have Sergio Biscuits, Pedrí and Gavi in the same/similar positions who fit Xavis system better. FdJ has been played slightly out of his most comfortable role which is why he hasn’t blazed a trail like he did at Ajax. TenHag will get the best out of Frenkie because he knows his game.

Reading through that Barca forum in the past they are so indifferent about De Jong, he seems to be their Pogba, full of possibility but rarely delivering. Hopefully he benefits from a Ten Hag style.

I'm starting to hope they want all the new signings for the Aussie leg of the tour.

That's my Muppet bias talking but I really hope Frenkie is done by the Perth game.
If you live near Perth then you already have enough in your life to enjoy, you lucky and selfish feckeroo.

I do think they want to keep FDJ - they just cant afford it. Especially when they have other areas where they need to strengthen

Can't believe I slept through 666. I will not make the same mistake with 999

They have Pedri and Gavi from the youth who are excellent. Easy money for them in an area they have plenty.

Ten Hag likes his team to keep the ball. Bruno likes to give that ball away. Its Hollywood or bust with Bruno.

With VDB, Eriksen and FDJ, Ten hag knows what he's getting and has worked with those players before.

Im more than happy to give Bruno the benefit of the doubt considering where we would of been without him the last few seasons.

He might not have to try the Hollywood passes as much in EtH’s system as you’d think he’d have far more options when on the ball. Whereas prior he’s had no runners or options and has had to force the pass to make something happen.

Yes he was poor towards the back end of the season, but I think his confidence was shot and he was burnt out. Hopefully with better squad options he will remain fresh.

Players are capable of changing under the right coaching. Under Ole I would guess he was given the freedom to do what he wanted as individual brilliance was the only way we could score.

Bruno could very well improve, while refining his game under ETH.

Hopefully once this gets done we can have a flurry of signings to beef up the squad. Seeing the travelling squad written down is painful

With Arnold in, it's going to look silly if the deal doesn't go through. Most likely already in wraps pending some financial commitments which only Arnold is authorized to do.

Bruno messes up the simplest of passes at times. Its more about his decision making/lack of concentration rather than technical ability. Pogba can pass as good as Xavi, but he cannot control the game like him. Bruno is a great final passer, but that doesnt mean he can knit the whole play together from #10.

Agree with this, a large part of why Bruno ends up trying the Hollywood ball is that the rest of our team is so bad at ball progression that we get mired in deep midfield all the time if he doesn't. If he isn't the only outlet, and if the only options he has aren't high risk balls, it shouldn't be hard to mix up his game a little more.

I hate this journalist. I really think I do.

I thought the British press were bad but the level of yo yoing from the Spanish press is really something.

It's on then it's off at least 3 times a day the past month and a half.

I mean 2 days ago one of the Catalan journalists said that Frenkie wants to join United over Chelsea then 2 hours later said the opposite.

Imagine him joining and being out-competed by Fred.

I know you're making a joke but watching a few of Frenkie De Jong's videos, his technical skill is a few leagues beyond of what Fred has ever shown at United.
