If it wasn't for ETH, i'd be inclined to saying, "OK Laporta, you keep him, no problem". Let them rot even further.

His constant lies to save face is pretty tiresome.

Been a total mess in all honesty.

We might still get him but you'd have to wonder why the club were willing to enter into negotiations this ridiculously messy in the first place. Stinks of our usual naivety.

This whole transfer saga is messed up. You want to sell or you don't want to sell. Make up your mind, afterwards don't do a U-turn. Holy moly, getting sick and tired or Laporta's crap.

Let's try and get De Jong. Push this transfer till the end. Then, Barca can go into administration for all I care.

Now the cat is out the bag and it turns out Barca are in debt to FdJ, we can forget about this unless he’s willing to lose all that money.
Yep or he can stay at Barca, refuse the cut and quite probably single handedly bankrupt them with his wages

Ornstein and Stone are saying the deal is progressing. Laporta is being a twat and setting up De Jong to take the blame for the transfer, after swindling him out of money. Fecking scumbag.

Why would he lose it? He’s legally entitled to the deferred payments of the last two years. Him being being there or not does not change that fact.

I don't see how this will get resolved anytime soon, it's a mess and the club needs to look elsewhere.

Ok now it's easy to see why this is taking long. Barca are trying to screw this guy out of a hell of a lot of money that he is owed

Yeah exactly right which is totally bang out of order and with their financial situation makes me wonder how on earth he will get it.

Why is FdJ being so quiet? Surely you'd be livid at getting messed about like this?
aren't there loyalty bonuses in pretty much every contract? He probably costs himself money and leverage if he speaks. I think he and his agents have been very smart in this by just staying silent.

Harsh, we're in for him because of our own midfield situation and he'd be a massive and instant upgrade. There's not many of similar profile. But I'll agree that it's a problem of our own making. Why we didn't sign some capable midfielders last season when Pogba and Matic situations were known is absolutely our own fault

Maybe, or maybe he's just a nice chap. Interesting considering the circus at our place with CR.

Being quiet is in his best interests. He's getting paid whatever happens.

Not buying the contract stuff, it doesn't affect the deal, De Jong can just leave and take them to court for breach of contract and get the money he is owed at some point.

Don't see him doing that to his "dream club" though, maybe someone needs to ask one of these tier 1's how this can get sorted out.

Somehow its our fault Barcelona are in financial ruin and holding players to ransom for money they are legally entitled for.

Only on Caf

You're forgetting that this is who the manager wants. The manager was not here last season.

I cannot understand how they can say to a player “we’re not paying you your deferred money and we need you to take another pay cut”

and then be like

“Here’s Kessie and Christensen! “

I consulted for a few listed companies like that -- one in India still owes me a tonne. I have written it off. Its impossible to go through Indian courts to try & get your money back.

I think he would be livid but what can he do? Maybe he ain't great at finance and believes what Laporte is feeding him, after all he loves the club.

It's mental really isn't it? the likes of Dembele and FDJ being forced to half their wages while they sign new players right in front of them.

They're trying to get Raphinha and Lewandowski, how about pay your debts first instead? they are asbolute jokers.

I’m still convinced that this is Barca just trying to turn the screw on us to get the highest price

Let’s not forget people this is just a negotiation tactic. Ornstein and Stones comments make it seem like things are moving in the right direction still. Barca obviously just being greedy and are publicly trying to pressure us.

That's a legal issue surely?

Of course -- but sometimes when you as a person is going up against a large entity, they could drag it out in the courts till it ain't worth your while.
My brother-in-law has some IP issue with Google but his university -- he teaches at an Ivy League school in NYC) -- felt that it wasn't worth their while. If an Ivy League school with their resources don't think its worth it to go after Google, what hope is there for an individual?
