Berbaclass
Fallen Muppet. Lest we never forget
It’s nothing but that.I’m still convinced that this is Barca just trying to turn the screw on us to get the highest price

Levers or somethingCan someone explain how you can sign new players if you can't fulfill existing contacts?
They’ve not been registered by La Liga yet and they have a wave of new money arriving in a few weeks. Can someone explain how you can sign new players if you can't fulfill existing contacts?
This is Saturday all over again isn't itLet’s not forget people this is just a negotiation tactic. Ornstein and Stones comments make it seem like things are moving in the right direction still. Barca obviously just being greedy and are publicly trying to pressure us.

Of course. He’s gone from saying I’ll do everything to keep him to basically I’ll sell when there’s an offer we can’t turn down. Put that with Romero’s comment last night and you have a bigger picture.Again if de Jong wasn't for sale we'd have backed off ages ago. This is all posturing on Barcas side. Make it seem to the fans that Barca and Laporta are doing all they can to keep him but eventually he'll be sold citing financial reasons
Of course -- but sometimes when you as a person is going up against a large entity, they could drag it out in the courts till it ain't worth your while.
My brother-in-law has some IP issue with Google but his university -- he teaches at an Ivy League school in NYC) -- felt that it wasn't worth their while. If an Ivy League school with their resources don't think its worth it to go after Google, what hope is there for an individual?

Don’t know mateYeah, but under employment law, surely that is for existing contacts first?
They probably didn't post anything from the Red Light District though
He’s not jeopardising anything. There’s a contract that says he will get x amount, Barcelona haven’t honoured that, they’re in a breach of contract so he has every right to make this a legal issue and transfer to United. Whether or not he says anything in public will have no impact on a legally binding contract. He doesn't want to jeopardise the package that's owed to him. Never burn your bridges when negotiating.
Ok now it's easy to see why this is taking long. Barca are trying to screw this guy out of a hell of a lot of money that he is owed
This is obviously not a true picture of what is happening in negotiations. Two T1 sources have both said negotiations are positive today.FdJ is a smashing player and would love him at utd but need to give Barcelona timeline, move on to other targets.
End of day if we pull plug on deal still Barcelona be in a financial mess. So happy to seem them struggle and the player should know how the club are treating him by way things are going.

I consulted for a few listed companies like that -- one in India still owes me a tonne. I have written it off. Its impossible to go through Indian courts to try & get your money back.
I don’t think they’re employment contracts, they’re most likely some kind of ‘consultancy’ contract which is why they have a fixed time and expire unlike employment contracts which turn ‘permanent’ after two years and can no longer have a fixed end date. Can someone explain how you can sign new players if you can't fulfill existing contacts?
We’re about to find out just how much he “loves” BarcelonaWhat are the chances of him being willing to do that though
Yes he can and he probably will once he leaves and they don’t pay him. They’ll be trying to keep him and promise him loads of money in 5 years of he plays for free between now and then. That way they avoid being dragged to court over unpaid wages. Can’t he just take them to court? He’s legally owed the deferred money whether he plays for them or not. They can’t just not pay him.
We better not be stupid enough to agree to foot some of that bill by agreeing to higher wages.

Meaning you can agree a contract to represent Barcelona at a return of x but they have no obligation to play you or even register you as a player, unless that is stated in your contract. Even then that could change based on circumstance.
I think this would be an issue for the PFA to sort out if Spain has the equivalent.
He won’t write it off. He will feck over other people by doing that who are also owed money out of the deal.Surely him writing off is curtains for us
I think the PR for Barcelona over this matter is far worse than the legal or fiscal ramifications. Try attracting big names when the world knows they won’t pay you and you have to sue them to get your wages. They probably won't want to get involved with their crown jewel club, so hard to see how this total mess gets resolved.
I’m also in favour of doing so to be honest. Not only will it go in our favour with Frenkie but it shows ETH we are backing him.Why not? If it means getting de Jong... im sure Manchester United can afford it after Pogba, Cavani, Mata, Lingard and maybe Ronaldo are of the wage bill.
i don't even understand Barca's end game any more. He's owed a fecking mountain of money, but they are threatening him with a sale to MUFC if he doesn't take ANOTHER pay cut? So what then? They are just never going to pay him? Nothing makes sense here. So when he's owed 100 million in back pay what are they going to do if he stays? threaten to sell him to Bayern?
I'm at a loss to what Barca think they are tempting Frenkie to stay with.
Which agent would willingly put their clients there too.I think the PR for Barcelona over this matter is far worse than the legal or fiscal ramifications. Try attracting big names when the world knows they won’t pay you and you have to sue them to get your wages.
They don’t have a choice, that’s why Laporte said that. Pretty much word for word what he said about Messi. So that's that then...
Ten Hag still might want him though.
If the player is in dialogue with Ten Hag and is open to a move, it still might be possible.
I think it's a question about money.
No reason to panic tbh. They can't sign any players without selling first. And apart from De Jong, it doesn't seem like they have any high value assets which they are willing to sell. It should ultimately happen but it also demonstrates our position. We are neither willing to pay extra to get it over quickly nor do we have enough balls to walk away. Regardless of the result, neither club will come out looking any better post this saga.
Yep, agents are going to work for free and maybe get a handout in 5 yearsWhich agent would willingly put their clients there too.
And they will absolutely blink first because they feel enough pressure to keep coming out with this shithousing PR campaign. He has a contract already. He doesn't have to sign anything to stay. Whether he gets picked is another matter. Barca are the ones who need to either sell or change his contract. It's just a game of chicken.
It’s not about being able to afford it. Why the feck should the club pay for Barca’s feck up?Why not? If it means getting de Jong... im sure Manchester United can afford it after Pogba, Cavani, Mata, Lingard and maybe Ronaldo are of the wage bill.

Funny how they now have a choice after selling some of their merchandise and TV rights for 25 years. Only 25 years. If they need more money they can just sell more or make it 100 years. Their future money is not even theirs. Never liked the "more than a club" bollocks but I guess it serves them right. They are no longer a club, they're a startup waiting for angel investors so they can burn more money."Unless we have no choice"
Oh my god what a cnut.
