That would be a sight to behold...
de Jong single handidly destroying the club he claims to love haha
So if he stays and makes them honour the contract, realistically what are we talking for barca?

Relax lads!
Its the same group of lads that got us 2nd
The Window hasn’t opened yet
Its not as if our rivals have bought anyone yet
The lads haven’t reported back for pre season

The lads haven’t gone on pre-season tour yet
We haven't played our first game yet
It's only one game into the season
Its only two games into the season
it's only three tames into the season
transfer deadline is for the best deals
It was never going to happen in one transfer window Ten Hag will coach our players from last year to all be in the all time XI
Ten Hag will use the youth
Ten Hag try the old guys again
Ten Hag just needs the January transfer window
10 year contract renewal for Jones and Maguire
January isn't a good time for signings
Ten Hag will use the youth
Ten Hag try the old guys again
half fan base...It was never going to happen in one summer, or one season.
Half fan base...sack Ten Hag
Summer 23 arrives, rinse repeat
Teeing this up

If he’s a lifelong Barca fan, why did they have to get him on a contract so massive from
Ajax? Is it because PSG were also interested?

Crazy.

PSG being involved likely gave him more leverage, but being a lifelong fan doesn’t mean much in these matters. I’m a lifelong United fan, but if I was a successful footballer and United was in for me, best believe I’m squeezing United for every penny I can get. Hold the club to ransom or however that expression goes.

Just all the usual negative nancy nonsense we see literally every time. You’d think these people would get bored.
I'm not even invested in the transfer stuff, I gave up muppetry a long time ago when I realised it was a massive waste of the summer to be scanning ITK's and obscure foreign media outlets for snippets of news, now I just wait for the "Here we go" Tweet and all is good.

But I really don't understand the coming in here and talking about deals being off or going backwards because there hasn't been another positive tweet in the last 24 hours. It will happen when it happens, or it won't and we'll sign someone else. Either way I think this season is doomed for shitness so I'd be more worried about that.

No he won't, he is rumoured to receive 16m euros if he moves
€16 Million euro contract + the transfer fee amortized over the length of the contract (Assuming €40 million and a 3 year contract it will be 40/3 = 13.3)

€16 million + €13.3 Million = ~€30 million

You’re still missing the point, just because they get 200m + 400m now, doesn’t mean they will next year, in fact, of course they fecking won’t, it’s a one time fire sale.
So if they use a large portion of that 400m to bring in these players, what the feck do they do next year when the massive 600m gap in the books from the previous year is there?
How the feck do they then register their players for 2023-2024?

They don't need to, I'm not missing any point.
Maybe you should understand first what predicament they are actually in, and what they are intending to use the cash advance for, then maybe you would understand the point being made.
No one said they would use 400m for transfers and they won't have a 600m euro gap from the previous year either. 200m was added to the previous seasons revenue which meant the year no longer ended in a loss.
The idea for 22/23 books would be to ensure expenditure is less than revenue, hence the wage structure and cash injection into this years accounts.

So how do they register players for 23/24, easy they won't have an operating loss for 22/23 so with La Liga they should be fine as long as they manage the wage structure (which is why De Jongs wages are a big issue)

It is a great study of human bizareness that so many of you are commenting on this with any conviction either way.

Who knows? Good chance he comes, he also might not. More updates from me to follow.

We found Antonio "Fifty-fifty" Valencia's account.

Lewa will take up €30 Million in salary space

So 16m in salary space and 13.3 in amortised transfer fee, not 30m euros of salary space...

In that specific scenario, Barcelona would need to build up €30m in fair play for his transfer. The 49% sale of BLM for €320m would guarantee €106m in salary margin, more than enough to register him and the other signings that have already been completed.

This drama has completely taken the joy out of bringing Frenkie in. Seriously. He doesn’t really want to come here, Barca is dragging their feet.

I’m happy just to move on. Another poorly handled window by United.

I’m betting this thread will reach 1000 pages, and what will we have had to show for it?

Although my heart tells me the club should do its best and take all the time it needs to bring FDJ in (because ETH obviously wants him as the marquee signing), if it doesn’t work we really should move on. Use the money to bring in a serviceable RB (rid AWB) and maybe another forward now that Ronaldo wants to leave. We can’t spend all summer chasing a unicorn who does not even want to come and tying down the budget leaving us very little time to tie down other deals.

Right so Lewa must have a sensible salary if he would cost 30m euros in FFP (which is the point I was making). Bare in mind that De Jong will take up 40m euros in salary alone (not including his amortised transfer fee)

The cash advance also explains why the are stalling on the De Jong sale since after it they would be able to spend 100% of any fee they receive, if they sell him before then they can only spend 30% of it

The article in question actually then goes into Frenkie helpfully:

Using the reported figures, say Manchester United signed him for €80m, and his current wage sat at €16m gross per season.

By subtracting the pending €40m amortization in his contract from the transfer fee, as well as adding the positive balance gained from offloading his wage, Barça could net €56m from his sale. And as per the 1/3rd rule, around €19m in fair play space could be generated.

And if they wait they could add 100% instead of a third. His current wages though wont be 16m euros gross per season and that's the issue

We have 2 pretty much done in fairness. Not sure how many clubs have more than 2?

So far Eriksen is the only that can potentially improve the team. Hard to find excitement for a backup left back when there's a need to fill the holes in ST, RW, RB, and the midfield.

Jesus wept. It will probably be every managers favourite Scottish midfielder.

No way he genuinely believes Scott is an option. Lad is so awful I honestly doubt he'd play for Brentford.

We should use Frankie money on other position and go into next season with McFred midfield

Precisely. He's very appealing to get rid of as he takes up a massive amount of space.

Unless he massively reduces his salary (which he of course won't) since his replacement would cost 85m euros+ if you believe reports and will command a good salary too.
Where as they have already payed off some of his transfer fee already, so if he reduced his wages it makes it more viable for them

This guy has been nailing our recent business in advance

Also claims Eriksen's medical and announcement will be tomorrow and that we're aiming to complete the FDJ deal in time for the official kit reveal on Friday

So barca want their player to stay and take a reduced wage and they do it by negotiating a sale with another club even before talking to the player?

He was adamant that Timber was still joining up to last week, even after all the stories came out about his change of mind.
So pinch of salt.

I wounldn't be surprised though for the following reasons.

1. He is back from holiday
2. Barca will this week raise more cash (which I believe is what they have been stalling for)

You laugh, but honestly I think having a good RB will help Sancho on the RW. Last season the attacks on the right side simply died when AWB got the ball, or he was so poor in terms of attacking positioning that Sancho was asked to drive past multiple defenders on his own. As such teams defended more on the left knowing the right sided attacks were not that dangerous. There are many holes in our squad and midfield is merely one of them.

Midfield is our most pressing need by some distance, we're not just lacking in quality but it number as well if not De Jong then another midfielder.

You’re in for a big surprise once you see Malacia play, I can guarantee you that.

I don’t disagree with that. Just hoping this doesn’t turn another a longer saga than it already is. If not FDJ hope we have a plan B and move on.

The live Twitter feed says that deferred covid payments to frenkie are holding up the deal. That and Barcelona havent managed to contact his agent for past few days.

Marca pushing this.
