As others have said, he's not played in his favored position here tbf, on the flip side I guess you could also argue he hasn't been good enough to warrant Barca playing him in his favored position though. Grandpa Busquets is still better as a lone DM and he can barely move these days.

Barca aren't really desperate to get rid but Bernardo Silva is far the superior player, especially for Xavi's system, it's an opportunity that makes sense, lower wages also help. Frenkie is essentially double pivot or don't bother, under ten Hag he will get to play that position again.

I do agree he is being massively overrated on here - he has games where he looks world class but he's very inconsistent and I think he might struggle with the pace of the PL personally. He still has a lot to prove.

I think it's his mental health / confidence that is the issue rather than physical health.

Also, he isn't a Haller type number 9 if that is what Ten Hag wants to get on the end of Sancho and Antony's crosses. That is why we saw the rumours of the Austrian Peter Crouch, but for Man Utd we want a big target man who is not 1 dimensional, but has a bit of technical quality (and they should press as well).

If we want to properly analyze this it's a shot out the back window of a vehicle, clearly indicating that Chelsea is in the rearview mirror now, meaning United are the only direction Frenkie is looking.

There's surely no way Chelsea can afford to sign Fofana for a world record fee, Gordon for £60m, Longnameyang for €20m and Frenkie on top of that?

Convinced another reason that journos are so pessimistic is because Utd haven't really got any assets to raise any money, feels like it's gonna take something miraculous for the usual suspects to get back on this deal again. They have clearly moved on to Antony but as we have seen in the past things can reignite again at the most unlikely of times.

The passion and atmosphere he would experience week in and week out playing in England he wouldn't get in Spain and at the end of the day, that feeling of stepping out on the pitch with supporters bellowing out your name b/c they fuking want you at the club should be more than enough to make the move.

And he could play in front of a proper average league crowd of 73,000 each week, as opposed to Barcelonas measly average of 39,800 for last year!!!
