I don't see how Tuchel keeps all those midfielders happy, they'll all be wanting to play a lot more than some of them will be.
He won't. He'll struggle and then come January you'll start hearing of some guys who want to leave id imagine

I've said it before and I'll say it again.

De Jong, IMO, would be an idiot to go to Chelsea.

They're (a) not a prestigious/historic club, there's no great legacy to build at Chelsea, there's zero great footballing legends built at Chelsea, zero

and (b) Tuchel might be/will be out by the end of the season, you're wilfully signing for a club that doesn't give a toss about coaches

and (c) you're off to a club that has just ruined Werner, Kepa, Havertz, Pulisic, Ziyech, Lukaku and CHO. Tuchel doesn't even know how to best utilise half his players.

We're not great in this department, I don't deny it. But we stick at it with talent we purchase as opposed to discarding them like trash.

And (d) the club has come in at the last minute, he's literally an after thought.

Maybe I'm bias, maybe. But I would have signed for United and had a clause that would allow an exit if certain conditions aren't met within 3 years.

It would have been good to get him in as part of the building blocks of ten Hag's new United regardless.
Oh of course. It’s a step in the right direction but getting FDJ and not improving our attack means we will not make champions league for 2 years in a row.

Did Tuchel say midfield is not a priority a while back? I presume this is a player being bought for him, a la Roman?

Plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose

My opinion is that Chelsea's interest is still at that, the interest phase.

Ornstein said that they're not at a bid making phase yet, and as far as we know, from him anyway, nothing has changed.

I just don't know whats true and whats not anymore... it just seems that everything is all over the place at the moment and people are reporting what they think is happening, rather than what actually is

a) don't think he give a damn about history.
b) we'll never know, he's been doing well and the club is successful
c) you could add every player pre SAF to our list of failures.
d) we basically just showed Chelsea he's available now. Never might have happened had ETH made the enquiry.

I think it's still "waiting for our move to break down" personally.

I think they'd have put in a bid otherwise. I think they are watching to see what happens to our deal.

SMS and Rabiot would be 10x better than Neves mate.
Rabiot is toxic and has never shown anything that makes me believe that he would be a good addition. Sms overhyped and overpriced. But he was the trendy player a few yrs back.. has some people still thinking he is world class, personally dont see it,average in my eyes. In my opinion neither are better than neves. Neves has a good character. Captain at Porto at 18 . Vice captain at wolves, now captain. Great passing, shooting and a bit of bite about him with the leadership qualities. That's my opinion anyways. Just cause we are some poor in quality in midfield doesn't mind go out and add likes of rabiot,we are suppose to be clearing the squad of unprofessional toxic characters. Not adding more on new 4 or 5 yr deals.

And how long are we a club going to keep talking about our history and not win shit? Pool did think it for like 30 years. Would you like to go on for that long?

Do you not find it odd that with them being quite similar player how they both potentially fit into the team together?
I view De Jong as a more mobile and athletic Jorginho who will play slightly deeper. He’s a player who keeps the game ticking over and pulls the strings I thought? Whereas Kova is a pure box to box #8.

Don’t see why these two couldn’t play together.

I just don't get this whole "waiting for a green light" thing. What difference would it make? Bid in or not, if the green light comes, then everything is ready to go.

Thats why i just don't think their interest is as solid as some reporters are making out to be. What difference would it make if they put their bid in now and he decides that he doesn't want to leave? No harm at all?

Especially when we're being told multiple times that "he wants to go to Chelsea if he leaves". They've nothing to lose from agreeing a deal.

Fair point. What do you think would happen with Gallagher/Kante/Jorginho/RLC etc.

Obviously you have too many midfielders this season. Presumably Gallagher back to Palace or something?

They've not. I just don't get why they're waiting for this green light?

It's like, why would you negotiate but then say "We'll actually bid when he says he wants to go" makes no sense??

Romano updates and adds absolutely nothing. Seems the media are either shooting in the dark, hedging their bets with ambiguity, or being told whatever each club (or perhaps even de Jong's agent?) wants to be reported. Don't trust any of those that have been the loudest, better to just wait for someone with a bit more credibility like stone or ornstein

Stone doesn’t do breaking news. He reports after everyone does.

Neves is a solid PL player, but no way is he going to be worth the fee wolves will want for him.
Michael carrick was a solid premier league player too....and loads of utd fans whinged when he signed.. we all know how that turned out. Wolves are a good team to deal with, they sell and sell at good prices, not over the top. Jota for example. 50m would probably do it,as long as its not the last few days of the window.

Or Sam Transfers?!

I honestly think Wolves would hold out for more. They know by now we are desperate if we don’t get Frenkie.
They will be the ones desperate if he doesn’t sign a new contract this year. His contract expires in 2024. They will get less than half of what they want this summer

Romano has been repeating the same things over and over. I think he's just saying whatever he can now to stay relevent. Of course he has his sources, but i think he's not had anything new on this one for a while and he's just repeating old news now

I take the piss out of him but he's an attention whore too. Does anyone find it a bit weird that Romano has barely mentioned or acknowledged the the FDJ to Chelsea rumors or am I mistaken?

My honest two cents to try and be balanced and not too pessimistic like my previous posts:

- our confidence has reduced from very likely to around 50/50 because of the Chelsea interest.
- it may favour Chelsea on paper but we back our charm when negotiations with FdJ actually take place.
- in the event it doesn't, SMS will join.

He's got 10M+ followers, he doesn't need to regurgitate info to stay relevant
