I disagree completely. Saying barca is my dream club and preference is to stay is not sitting on the fence. It's explicitly stating he doesn't want to move.

He could have said a generic " I love it here, but you never know what the future is. "
By saying that though you upset the club you are at. If he doesn't think he is going to be sold then why would he do that? it's shooting yourself in the foot. Barca fans especially don't take kindly to that sort of stuff.

He literally says the club have told him nothing about being sold or any offer, so why would he say anything positive towards another club?

If something does start to become concrete then he will change his tune.

I trust ETH and I want us to sign players that fit his plans but I’m not sure why we’re chasing players who don’t particularly if at all want to come, unless they are pushed for the move, let alone someone who hasn’t exactly set the world alight recently.

Haven’t we learned anything from the Di Maria debacle? And Di Maria was a better player than De Jong, joining on the back of his best season at Madrid and an excellent world cup.

I’m sure De Jong isn’t the only player who can fit the manager’s plan in midfield and there are plenty of quality players out there who will be happy to join Manchester United.

At this point we seriously have to nail every incoming transfer.

Has anyone made a woman analogy yet? Something along the lines of: An incredible woman is in a relationship and you always really liked her but her fella is after treating her badly and suddenly makes it clear that he doesn't really love her back and she is heartbroken but you are bald and Dutch and offering her a shoulder to cry on with ulterior motives- should you accept that she will never feel the same way about you as she does about the other chiselled abbed dreamboat who is currently eyeing up Polish birds or persevere in the hope that she will eventually grow to love you for enabling her to flourish as a deep lying playmaker in her preferred 4-3-3 formation?

It just isn't a real transfer saga without one of these.

We should really not sign players who don’t want to come. We’re better off signing players who are promising and looking for the next big move to make an impact. The player who will go on to be the next FDJ basically.

I got ridiculed yesterday for saying we shouldn't sign players who aren't interested just cause our manager wants them, I stand by that even more after those comments.

For the first time in this ‘saga’, I’m against this signing. For a player to come out and publicly say he doesn’t want to leave his current club, amidst such speculation, I think it says a lot

there's a massive difference between "begging for MUFC" and a player saying "well if my only options are not playing football again, and playing football...i guess i'll play football"

stop with the extreme ends of the spectrum. it's completely normal to be weary about the intent of player that obviously does not want to join us.

But you're literally doing the same thing. He's not turning his nose up at United as if we are some shitstain of a club. He just has a preference to play at Barcalona, a club he's long admired and there seems to be a decent project in the making.

Wasn't Ole and Liverpool fan? And Carragher a match going Everton fan? Players are allowed to have preferences. Ultimately, it comes down to professionalism and De Jong has shown nothing but professionalism during his career, and Ten Hag would know better than us.

I’d describe him as Jorginho with Kovacic’s dribbling ability.

If you go back a page someone posted a video of De Jong in Netherlands v Germany and when played in his best position he comes very deep to dictate the play, combined with nice driving runs and clever passes in the middle / final thirds.
It's hilarious, how people keep whining he isn't a DM, and then others (such as yourself) are saying his best position was a game in which he was the lone no 6.

Poor Frankie boy will only feel let down if Barcelona get rid of him to accommodate other signings. Ten Hag wants him and will feel wanted at utd.

Only thing is Man City owner again coming out with stuff like will further improve the squad for pep. I fear he will go to Man City.

Who ridiculed you?
This guy
You are honestly crying about the fact we might be able to take advantage of Barcelona's financial woes and pinch one of the best midfielders in the world at only age 25, who knows our new managers system extremely well, at what could be a really good price? I don't get it there's just no pleasing some folks, if he was the same exact player but from some obscure club in Division 2 of the Dutch league that would make it better for you? Our midfield is diabolical and one of the worst in the league, if we can aim high and try to get FDJ then we'd be absolute fools not to explore the possibility

#neverforget

I wish all youse cnuts would just accept it’s happening already

all this whining about Di Maria and wotnot will get you nowhere

Apparently there is a meeting right now in Barcelona about how to address their monetary woes.

I expect the de jong links to go in overdrive thereafter, especially considering that were pretty much the only ones in for him.

Some people on here really think persuading De Jong to join United is akin to their mom persuading them eat another plate.

I doubt ETH will try to trick Frenkie into a decision he'll instantly regret....

If he's not interested, he won't sign. It's as simple as that.

If he comes, it's because he decided we were the best option available to him. And there's no reason not to pursue that even if you're not his preferred choice.

Anyway I'm pretty sure we're getting him so I it's about who we partner him with knowing that he would be a nailed on starter here.

he went there for a reason, he obviously would prefer to stay there. comments are to be expected.

:lol: So everyone read the tweets in negative way while I see it as positive because he's not denying of possibility moving to another club and in fact he's admitting that he's going to take the call from other clubs.

He also confirmed without revealing much that he has been in touch with ETH

So one poster? I have read your posts from yesterday and apart from that one comment by one poster you mostly got sensible responses. Hardly enough to portray it like you got ridiculed.
That's a matter of personal opinion, I'd prefer to call them hysterical nonsensical responses. I think it's important to highlight my hardships in the face of adversity from those who have wronged me.

He might be interested, there's always ways to sign a player, mostly involving giving them big wages and bumper signing on fees, but haven't we learnt in the past through Di Maria and Pogba that just because you signed the player, doesn't mean they are overly happy? It's only natural, if you're already at your dream job, and the company forces you to move to another company for whatever reason, and you might be on more money, but that doesn't mean you'll be pleased about the situation. It's clearly not good to sign a player who already has a lot of reservations before they even arrive at the club.

Sport claim the club believes 'there will be a transfer agreement’ with them for around €75m plus bonuses

I know you are trying to shift attention by joking about it, but I'm pretty sure that someone who's trying to portray it like they have been ridiculed based on one response from about 10 responses is objectively the "hysterical and nonsensical" one.
