On a serious note, I wonder if Barca are digging themselves a hole for the coming few years. Presumably they are offering some new players, or have current players, on contracts involving deferred wages, which basically amounts to an I Owe You. If their business model is is any way reliant on selling those players further down the line, prior to the increased wages taking effect they could be putting themselves at huge risk if a number of those players don't agree to move. A lot of the players they've gone for recently or being linked to now are older as well, so no resale value, and at their age would be content to refuse to move. With Frenkie they at least have some leverage due to him coming into his prime years. I'd they eventually cave on FDJ, which most people think is the case, it also leaves them in a weaker negotiating position in the same situation in the future.
