Frenkie De Jong - Part 3?

we agreed a deal with Barca before. I imagine if we offered De Jong the same money he’s on, as well as the deferred wages he’s owed, we could get it done. But for obvious reasons we won’t do that, and De Jong won’t leave before he gets what’s his.

Couldn't he leave for whatever salary at his new club and still claim the deferred wages? You'd think they would legally still owe him his postponed salary.

They do but don't. If he stays for the duration of his contract, he will get his legally agreed postponed salary.

If not, a deal or agreement will have to be found. Barcelona are broke, and Frenkie wants his money.

But Barcelona wants to have their cake and eat it. They should sell him on the low, and pay the postponed wages if they don't want him anymore.

Thanks for the clarification. That sounds a bit wild, but also unsurprising. Seems like one of the least likable clubs behind the whole Mes que un club facade.

Barca has only themselves to blame for this as they're looking to make a profit on top of getting rid of his wages while the more reasonable solution being them taking whatever us or any other potential suitors would be paying them to pay of his deferred wages and cut of their losses.

Of course de jong would not be giving up on what he's owed.

So the Barça fans are booing him at presentation because they can't register Olmo/buy Nico Williams because his wages are too high, which is a result of him taking a temporary pay cut a while back so they could register new players. Baffling

Feck Barca. If they want him gone, they should paid him the money they owed him. Asking clubs to pay for his salary and 40 millions on top is deranged. Hope we don't bite.

Replacing McTominay and Casemiro with De Jong and Ugarte would literally make me nut.
Case had a great game against City but I'm unsure how his legs will hold up until the end of the season

McT is a no-brainer

Why they booing him?

Because they think he earns too much and should give back some money to the club out of solidarity.... or something. He is killing their muppet dreams with his evil ways. Can't even register Olmo, let alone sign Nico Williams.

Really?! They are in that boat again? What a ridiculous club they have become.

Won’t happen because of his wage demands but the club is almost perfectly set up for him to join. Pretty much everyone here has some link to him. Probably have his mum working the canteen

His wages are so high because he agreed to lower his wage in corona time to help the club but the club would pay his wages later on, which is now. If he would sign for us or any other club he could get a ‘normal’ wage, which is already high ofcourse, if he can agree with Barcelona that they pay his outstanding wage over the last couple of years. That would still be cheaper for them and they get a transfer fee.

But I don’t believe he will ever come to us, he likes it at Barcelona. Even if they want to sell, he won’t leave.

Disgusting how the current people who run it are misusing the pull and glory of the club to sign players without being totally sure they can register and use them, and therefore freezing out other players to force them to leave.

At the same time tapping up players publicly while they are under contract elsewhere.

I have zero compassion for them. They’ve dug their own hole.

You mean getting your rightful wages is called antics now?
Fecking hell don't get your panties in a bunch. Obviously means the bit where Barca still owe FdJ wages and he won't leave without getting paid, which Barca cannot afford to. Apparently they still owe Ajax money for the transfer as well.

They're fecked financially
It's mindblowing they are still allowed to operate as a football club when they owe their own employees (and former employees too) so much money. I can't understand why they were even allowed to buy Olmo, where did the money even come from? Another lever?

The chickens are coming home to roost now.
Only so much you can put on the never never.
Hopefully we don’t bail them out.

Not happening as long as he has a contract with Barca. Maybe if he is out of contract in 2 years we can sign him, not sure we will be interested at that point.

If United want him and Barca want him out because of his high wages and what they owe him in deferend wages then it could be a simple deal - assuming he's open to moving here which isn't a given

They sell him to us for a nominal fee, say 10 quid or something, we give him a signing bonus of what he's owed +a bit more to sweeten it and he agrees a sensible wage with us

Barca get him off their books, we get him for a price a fraction of what he's actually worth

Probably never happening but Barca have cut their oown throats so it's all on them
