Frenkie De Jong - Part 3?

No thanks. He had his chance when we came calling last time.

Let's go build a team with the best young players who've got the drive and determination to take us back to the top. I'm done with players coming here on massive contracts towards the end of their careers

He would be a perfect fit for the new system. We won't get him though, Barcelona will hold onto him.

His contract expires in the summer of 26 and there’s no indication that Barcelona are keen on offering him an extension unless it provides them with a get out of jail free card considering the wages he’s owed.

How much is he still owed?

He is.... 27...
Yeah I know. It's less about his age but more about the fact that hes been on an absolutely massive contract at Barcelona and will be expecting a similar or more than likely, an even higher deal at United.

He had his chance to join us a couple of years back and that was with ETHs infatuation with buying up all his ex players.

That ship has now sailed

No idea, i think the original deferred wages was around £14mill that would be baked into his wages after a few years. I might have completely misunderstood the concept, but as far as i can gather it means that if he gets sold next season, he essentially forfeits a chunk of those deferred wages as it’s related to his current contract and not a seperate arrangement that they will fork out the exact amount he deferred.

Yes I believe you are right.

With Barcelona’s new levers, and FDJ’s partner wearing the levers in the relationship, this is about as close to impossible as it gets.

His age and and proclivity for injuries would be a major concern for any suitors, either he'll extend with Barcelona on more logical terms or he'll depart for Italy, can hardly seem him ending up in England.
