Gaming Fortnite .

Is this your first video game? Or is this some issue with playing on the iPad?

No its not my first game, I just thought theyre would be an obvious sign they were your enemies or your mates, like clear blue arrow above friends and red above enemies, but @Redlambs says friends have names and enemies don’t, so I’ll check it out.
I thought it was because im colour blind and couldn’t tell the difference between the two colours.

It might get a little confusing in 50v50. But even here, our teammates will have a white arrow above their heads.

Anyone fancy a game on ps4?

I see with the drift outfit I'm unlocking additional stages to the outfit. Is that the same with all skins? Can I switch between skins without losing progress on each?

Depends on the skin. You'll know if you access the locker and the skin has a little circle in the bottom right.

Your progress is saved for all skins irrespective of the one you're wearing.

Found out about fortnitetracker.com about a month ago and have been comparing stats with my squad pretty much ever since. Added a whole new dose of healthy competition and banter between us. It's worth checking it out to see how you really stack up against the people you play with.

Wow.

Wow.

I technically won a solo squad.

3 of my random teammates died upon landing. Took out 4 people in Retail. Gathered resources until last few zones.

In the end 5 people left. Me vs full squad. They were trying to bait me to come out by firing randomly for me to think that there's a fight.

I had practically given up at that point. Zone caught up with me, took those rift things. Took their base on the high ground. They started pushing. My green tactical shotgun ready.

Pow, 1 down.
Pow, 2 down.
Pow, 3 down.

Wait can I actually do this?

Pow, slow motion. 4 down.

Victory Royale.

feck me that was intense.

Excellent man! GG's :)

I've clutched a solo squads win in similar circumstances, by complete surprise. I didn't even realise at first. Weirdly I find if I don't know how many players are left, I do a whole lot better

And here I am with just one solo win which was 4 months ago! You guys need to give me some tips

Just got off and honestly not sure how many games we won, around 10 I think.

What platform are you playing on and what is your experience with third person shooters?

I play on PS4. I have never played any third person shooter game before (probably why I suck at them). I'm more of a FIFA and open-world game player. But I have been playing Fortnite almost everyday for atleast an hour this month.

Nice! Did you save the replay?

I'll add you later on too.

The best piece of advice I could give to a console player would be to switch your control scheme to builder pro or combat pro. Either are so much better than the standard control scheme. You’ll make muscle memory mistakes to begin with but it’s well worth it. They’re both easier to use and more efficient.

Turn your sensitivity up too, it allows you to turn and build far quicker in order to defend yourself if you’re being shot in the back and you’ll find you’re able to move far better in a shotgun battle both in terms of making your opponents miss shots and keeping up with their movement in order to hit your own.

The rest of it is down to practice. I’d rather not think about how much time I’ve spent playing Gears of War over the past few years but it set me up perfectly for Fortnite. Things like right hand advantage and knowing when to push and when to camp are second nature and make the game so much easier. I think only experience can help in that regard.

Ah I wish I had 1 win, I am still at 0 having played like 150 solo matches  I manage to kill a few people and survive until there are only 2-3 people left but then I have no chance cause I find it impossible to build stuff on PS4... Pretty sure I made quite a few "Fortnite noobs compilation" videos on YT as I have been killed in some ridiculous ways when only 1 person left

I have been seeing a lot of kids doing dances, like at at random places in public. I said to my brother why do so many kids seem to like dancing these days? Now I know why :D

My missus is a primary school teacher and she says the kids are obsessed with it. Always talking about it, doing the dances and so on. Because of this, she finds it very confusing that grown men like myself are almost equally as obsessed.

We all have an inner child inside.

Inside ourselves not the basement you sick fecks!

I have already started playing with Builder Pro which helps me to build a bit faster. I tried increasing my sensitivity to 8/6 but my accuracy became garbage so I have gone back to 6/5 for now. Hope to slowly increase it as I get used to this. The bolded part is where I'm really bad. I have zero game sense. I either go charging in and get surrounded by a squad or stay too far away to do any damage. I also totally panic during a 1v1 and end up trying to shoot with a bandage  I guess if I keep playing I have to improve at some point :nervous:. The most I've killed in a game is 3.

Atlast someone I can relate to  I have had countless embarrassing moments in this game.

Some people are just out of touch with it, that's normal. Others are just big kids ;)

The amount of parents at my kids school who bitch about it it hilarious, I can't help but giggle listing to the old folk moaning. Thing is most of the younger kids don't even play it that much, they just love the dances more than anything. Besides, I can floss too so I'm sure that looks epic when I join in

Dude, it takes time. I think I was at around 150 myself when I got my first solo win. Try some squads, it's easier to win and gain confidence in the late stages.

I've just had a funny end to a squad game, we played duo vs squads and got down to the last team of three. Had the high ground, built a base and put down the obligatory hopeful trap. They launchpad in, and two of them land right in my base into the trap! The last one somehow manages to get above my teammate (newb!) and I turn around and headshot with a fecking rocket launcher. It was hilarious how quickly it all happened :D

Dude, I've had wins with less than 3 kills and my gf has a zero win on PS4, don't think that amount is pitiful! It's better than 2 or 1 or none, stay positive as it means you are at least improving. As @SillyUsername rightly says, it's about game sense more than anything and that comes with playing.

For example I'm at a point where 8+ kills and a win every couple of games is the norm, however I don't play that much really and if I stop even for a day I'm trash for the next few. It really is just about getting into situations and learning from them. Also, and I can't stress this enough, since playground mode people are using the building to a point where it hurts their play. The amount of people I'm killing because they are just building and forgetting to actually shoot lately is insane.

Best thing to do if you are getting shot at is build a protective wall, then ramp and if they are spamming their shots, you keep building a wall. When they have to reload, and they will, that's the point when you get up on your ramp and take control of the fight. The amount people panic when having their walls shot is silly, even with rocket launchers, you have more time than you think. Oh and another tip, when building walls waiting for them to reload, keep moving around. If you stay in one spot and just spam turbo building, you will still be hit. Strafe a bit.

Thanks bud. The last tip is a mistake I make often. I get hit even when building walls because I stop moving. By the way, what's the sensitivity that you use?

On Playstation? I think on the PS4/Switch I have it a notch or two up from standard. I think I have Y a little lower too though. I haven't played console in a little bit though, I keep meaning too I like it on them especially the Switch.

Look at MonsterDFace on youtube, he's mainly PC but he has some good short setting and aiming videos on PS4 about setting up and how to test it's right for you. His videos in general are well worth a watch, he's an excellent teacher especially when it comes to end game and how to avoid the noob mistakes we all make :)

What’s that?
I think it's when you try to make sure that you peak out from the right-hand side instead of the left so that most of your body is protected. PUBG has this option where you can change the gun holding hand but you don't have that in Fortnite.

What’s that?

There could be better tutorials than that on YouTube as it’s not something I’ve ever needed to learn myself due to years on Gears of War but the basic premise is explained in that video.

EDIT: I should add, 99% of the fights I push or instigate, I do so with right hand advantage. Without it, I’ll build, move, try and manipulate the fight to become my right hand advantage wherever possible. I won’t engage on the left hand unless I have no other choice.

Ah that makes sense, i've been wondering why people are so much better at peeking.

The tactic of double ramping, then the top one only build the left ramp and shoot from the right gap works every time too. People expect you to keep ramping rather then suddenly shooting.

On PC there's also stuff like the piano method. And let's not forget the lame feckers who use macros to do this stuff too.

But yeah on a basic level, your aim is right handed so if you try to peek left your body sticks out more. They'll probably add a switch button at some point I'd imagine.
