How do i earn stuff to upgrade and whats the point in building anything, do you just knock it down or ?
There's no upgrades as such, everything you find in game is what you use. Things you actually pay for are purely cosmetic.
As for building, it's about giving you more options in battle. If you are getting shot, you can build a wall and regroup. If you need to scale a mountain, you can ramp up to it to gain the high ground. If someone is above you, you can build a roof. Etc etc.
Ah ok, thanks, how do you put the roof on though, I built a square earlier but couldn’t see how to put the roof on it?
Build a floor above you.
I thought I only had the option of vertical walls, how do i level up and why cant I play daily quests ?
You can build floors, walls and roof tops. Theres a button for each. You level up by playing, getting kills and winning. Theres one challenge a day that will help you level.

Change it to solos / squads / duos and you'll start playing with others / levelling up.
Thanks Adam, i played last night but i never saw anyone, I thought id selected the right one, built something and collected stuff but there were some items I couldn’t touch and that was that.
I love this game! On with my full squad later (my three brothers) and I honestly can't wait. Sounds sad for a 30 year old man but with us all in relationships in different parts of the country, we're getting less time for each other the older we get, as is probably the case for most families. Fortnite is the perfect mutual interest where we can interact and have a great time without actually seeing each other.
Far from sad. Its a great way to interact with others in that you instantly share a common interest. And, as in your case, to "spend time" (if I can) with your siblings.
Most annoying thing ever:
Last 3 in a solo game, no more material to build and you start getting swarmed by PS invites from friends.
Luckily I used a bus for cover and won the game. Those cnuts were going to get one hell of a bollocking from me if I had lost that.

Yeah PS invites popping up in game are the worst, what a terrible idea that one is.
It's not sad at all, in fact it's a good thing. For example my two little boys have had a seriously rough time lately and have been forced to move schools, but one of the major reason they walked straight in and made friends is this game. All the other kids play it and they instantly bonded with them over it.
For all the shit this game and video games in general get, there's positives too
Excited for the new season. Especially if it has Ancient Egypt, Vikings, Feudal Japan, etc as rumoured.
Do you start afresh every time, im just not getting it at the minute, and why cant i pick up certain items?
It a player vs player battle. Everyone starts off empty jumping from the bus. You pick up stuff, cut trees for wood etc and try to be the last person standing. If you die, the game resets and you start anew. You can't save or retain anything you picked up before dying. Each game is brand new.
Yes, you jump from the bus empty handed same as everyone.
What are you talking about certain items? You can pick anything and everything up if you have inventory space for it. The only thing I can think of is that you are trying to pick up extra materials past the 999 limit, or you have a full inventory and you have your pickaxe out when trying to swap items.
Can anyone help me, or a regular player but my son and I play it sometimes.....do I have to turn on ‘aim assist’? I’ve seen YouTube vids of people locking into the target when they zoom to shoot, doesn’t happen with me
Ive opened a box for instance and pick most items up but then i cant pick up a rifle, it just wont let me , are you limited to 5 (i think) items?
If your backpack is full, you cannot pick up items when holding the pickaxe. You get a message saying backpack full.
Switch to an item in the backpack and then you can pick up new items...however the new item will replace the existing item.
If you are on a console, turn on aim assist. I don't know how much it helps but almost everyone has it on.
Me too. I hope there are some massive changes to the map. Dusty Depot and Loot Lake have to go. They are a serious waste of space.

Auto aim is OP, but that doesn't mean it's easy to use still. You have to practice and still hit your shots.

What is the significance of a new season? Is it basically a cunning way of restarting everyone's level to sell more skins? And updating the map by the looks of things?
And in terms of battle passes, I almost feel bad how much time I've spent on this game without giving the devs a penny, so I'm thinking I'll buy one. Is now the best time to do it because a new season has just begun?

Yes and yes.
If you play it a lot, you make enough vbucks back as you level up to get the next seasons for free. You really only need to pay for the battle pass once.
Sorry for the stupid questions, but how do you spot enemies and is it best to just land in the middle so you are safe from the storm, and how do you know you have a good weapon or item?
I think an issue for you is the choice of platform. You should be able to see people from afar on most consoles and PC.
And no, dont land in the middle. If youre new to the game, land away from named locations and get better.
All weapons are decent - you ideally want a shotgun, AR, sniper and some meds. Weapon go up in rarity and strength. For instance, gold weapons are the best, whites are the worst.
Thanks bud, im on ipad but what distinguishes my team mates from the enemy, I followed a team mate then someone appeared and beat the crap out if me, i just thought it was a team mate

I wasn’t taking notice, my fault completely, i did get 2nd last night but got out shot, getting the hang of it a bit more now though.
I was on a lot today and didn't see you.
Though I think that might be because of the wankers at Sony not letting us even see cross players.
